Great Addition to Personal Library
A must read for men and women of all cultures! My wife and I met Ms. Bibb this summer. It was wonderful to talk with her about the writing of "Women's Liberation, Jesus Style". My wife and I were honored to get an autographed copy of the book.
God bless you Stephanie Bibb! WLJS will indeed become a future onstage production.
A New Resource for Local Church ProgrammingI can visualize a women's retreat that focuses, for its theme on "Women's Liberation, Jesus-style". This book could be used as the resource for the retreat, with all who sign up for the retreat purchasing and reading it. Then, at the retreat, participants could select a chapter, based on their particular needs at the time, and attend the workshop that focuses on that particular chapter. Facilitators for the individual workshops could be selected from within the church congregation that sponsors the retreat. Perhaps a woman minister could be invited to be the plenary speaker (perhaps even one who has contributed to the book.
It can also be used as a text for a women's Bible study in a local church, or as a Church School elective.
I give it five stars!!!

Jewish doesn't always equal Yiddish and bagelzTo me, jewishness was almost always inextricably linked to middle-easterness.For those of us who don't hide our Middle Easterness under one Jewish "we," it becomes tougher and tougher to exist in an American context hostile to the very notion of Easterness. As an Arab Jew, I am often obliged to explain the "mysteries" of this oxymoronic entity. That we have spoken Arabic, not Yiddish; that for millennia our cultural creativity, secular and religious, had been largely articulated in Arabic(as well as judeo-arabic and aramaic. Maimonides being one of the few middle-eastern Jewish intellectuals to "make it" into the consciousness of the West. His famous "Guide to the perplexed" was written in arabic under the title "Dalalat Al-Hai'reen"); and that even the most religious of our communities in the Middle East and North Africa never expressed themselves in Yiddish-accented Hebrew prayers, nor did they practice liturgical-gestural norms and sartorial codes favouring the dark colours of centuries-ago Poland. Middle Eastern women similarly never wore wigs; their hair covers, if worn, consisted of different variations on regional clothing (and in the wake of British and French imperialism, many wore Western-style clothes). If you go to our synagogues, even in New York, Montreal, Paris or London, you'll be amazed to hear the winding quarter tones of our music which the uninitiated might imagine to be coming from a mosque.
I strongly recommend this book!

Great book!1. animal rights (why do animals have rights? What animal rights is not, etc...)
2. Violence towards animals (speciesism, selective compassion, the foundations of cruelty, etc..)
3. Companion animals (attitudes towards them, puppy mills, trapping animals, being a responsible caretaker, etc...)
4. Vegetarianism (what is it? why is it important to animal rights? Health factors, etc...)
5. Factory Farms (what are they? the cost to family farms, environment, consumers, and animals)
6. Research, Education, and Testing (vivisection, animals in classrooms, military research, product testing...)
7. Wildlife in crisis
8. Animals in entertainment (circuses, zoos, TV, etc..)
9. Taking action (steps)
10. Animal Advocacy Organizations
11. Vegetarian organizations
12. Products and services
13. Further reading
I found that ALL the chapters had helpful details to spread the word to other people. It's not just a book for vegetarians, it's a book for everyone; so that everyone can see how we exploit animals, the environment, cover it up in the name of science, and what we can do to stop it. A GREAT resource book for beginners and non-beginners.
A must have for anyone who wants to know the truth!

A Must Read Understanding of Bio-diversityReviewer: Professor Richard Lester from Montgomery AL
John Kunich has done it again! In this superb book, Kunich presents a fascinating and extraordinary map, guide and survival manual for protecting the worlds' endangered biodiversity. In more than any work on the market today, Kunich has written a most important and well-balanced book on this timely subject. He clearly explains how environmental neglect is destroying our quality of life and polluting us to death. His explosive, blockbuster style details the wasteful exhaustion of the world's natural resources. The issue addressed is a megaton bomb ticking. This is a must read. John Kunich's book is clearly a most intelligent, compassionate and totally understanding publication on this most important subject of universal interest. It demands our attention. If the academy had a Mount Rushmore for authorities on protecting the world's biodiversity hotspots, John Kunich would be up there.

Extremely thorough guideThese steps help you keep control of your life when health problems could otherwise overwhelm you. As Landay says, "preparing for the worst allows you to expect the best." I followed his recommendations in coping with multiple sclerosis and applied some of them in my book The Art of Getting Well.
It's not always the easiest read; it's long and packed with info and resources. But I consider it a vital reference; I don't know of an equal one on the topic.

GREAT book!!!Amy Bartlett makes me feel I'm there. Great writing, a moving style, and genuine insight into the tragic events of that day. By all means pick up a copy and read it!
Amy got it right!I was moved to tears over and over as I read her descriptions of New Yorkers' reactions to this disaster. Amy allowed us to get inside her skin and relive this event as one who actually lived in Manhattan. I came as a volunteer, and only briefly touched the lives of ordinary people who lived through this. While my time was with the rescue workers, her focus was on the thousands of ordinary people who lost loved ones, and had to find the strength to go on living long after the last body part was recovered, and the last wreckage was removed.
Anyone who desires to drink deeply from the cup of sorrow endured by so many, and yet also drink freely from the waters of hope and renewal, should read this important book. History will record the facts of this tragedy, but Amy's book will forever capture the heart of the people, and their struggle to regain that which was lost. Her words give us strength to rise out of the ashes of the rubble and take the hand of God, who will never let go.
Superb ReadingBeing there was a life-altering event. Reading this book brought all those feelings back. It is a cliché but in this instance an apt one, this book is a MUST read.

A fine and much-needed look at pop culture and the ChurchThis book is so needed today. So much of pop evangelicalism and even the mainline churches have unwisely and unthinkingly schmaltzed the Church's glorious message into a dumbed-down, styrofoam, homogenized pop culture framework and are submerging the Church's heritage into it. (See Marva Dawn's book "Reaching Out Without Dumbing Down"). I refuse to listen to my local Christian radio station because they've pretty much pancaked their format to just watered-down pop Christian music, pretty much devoid of hymnody or anything with any history to it. What if the World War II generation had demanded that the Church's glorious history and hymnody be replaced by Lawrence Welk-style tunes? That's exactly what's happening today.
Read Myers' book to find out the values of popular culture and how they compare to high and folk cultures. This book will provide you with much great background, and, most importantly, helps you to think Christianly. It's creative, intelligent and a very enjoyable read.
