This is the first book ever written on the English lute-song, a style of song most popular in the Elizabethan and Jacobean periods. Heseltine's information is occasionally dated and inaccurate (the book is eighty years old), and the book tells one as much about the musicians who rediscovered the lute-song in the 1920's as it does about the Elizabethans. Some of the opinions in the book are frank critiques of the music--Corkine's airs are dismissed bluntly enough--but it is remarkable how close the book still is to modern perceptions of this music.
If you're into Elizabethan lute-songs and want a general overview, there are more current biographies of Dowland and Campion which correct some of Heseltine's errors, but this book remains a good source on neglected figures like Robert Jones and Tobias Hume. And there is no other book about the lute-song as a genre.

As a beginner to intermediate level student of the classical guitar, I believe that Debbie Cracknell's
"Enjoy Playing the Guitar"-Books 1 and 2- are the best of the many currently available for any new beginner (regardless of age) interested in getting a good foundation in learning to play the classical guitar.
It teaches basic music theory and uses easy-to-play pieces applicable to the material learned.
It will prepare the student to move into more advance studies.

I learned to play recorder using this book 40 years ago.
It is clear, concise and teaches the recorder one note at a time. It starts with the easiest notes on the recorder and progresses to the more difficult notes. There are duets, trios and quartets included in the book and an excellent fingering chart that includes alternate fingerings and trills.
There is also a version of this book for recorders in F.
I highly recommend this book!!!!
Buy this book if you want to properly learn to play recorder as the true musical instrument that it is.

There's an amazing amount of information packed into this little book. Topics include history, flute making, flute playing and the literature. It's a wonderful read and is illustrated with excellent color photographs and even has an appendix containing lists of flute makers, recordings, books and other resources for the Native American flute player. You can't go wrong with this one.

Clark brings both Granados and his music back to life in a brilliant work that sets new standards for musical biography.

the book is a great book for any Enrique Iglesias fan ! an excluunet source of information and a great read! try it for youself!

I found this book very useful for myself, a fairly new researcher without much background in the enzymology field. One of the best things about this summary is the complete and detailed bibliography that is included for each procedure and area of study discussed.

L.B. and Jim have exhausted every resource to write the most comprehensive history ever of the original Ephiphone company. Nearly every page is loaded with photographs, advertisements or sidebars, and there are also interviews with guitar greats like Les Paul (describing his experiments creating the solid-body electric guitar). But my favorite is the actual Epiphone history. Here the authors have managed to capture an American tragedy as the Stathopoulo family struggles to maintain a beautifully crafted line of musical instruments. Put this book on your coffee table, and your guests won't be able to resist paging through it

"The Eric Clapton Guitar Collection" is a wonderful and impressive piece of work. It gives you the impression that Clapton has really produced a fine body of work and this just covers the first twenty-five years or so. The transcriptons are accurate and large enough to be easily read and printed on quality paper all in an attractive slipbox . When one couples this with his "Crossroads" CD set and the "Unplugged" CD you have perhaps one of the finest instructional guitar packages available.Oh yea, there is also a fine five page introduction and a brief page on Eric's guitar style!

Being from Austin, TX I have known about Eric Johnson for years. I hope he would get the international recognition he so richly deserves. There used to be a joke in Austin that the first time you see him play in person, your jaw drops and has to be surgically reattached! He has incredible speed, perfect technique and a really cool sound. This is definitely worth a listen!
