Great for folks just starting out.
This book will tell the newcomer all the basics and touches upon the economics in a non-technical manner.

The book is a good source for adults and teens.

Ron Parker has done a good job simplifying technical jargon so the novice has a chance to avoid pestering other shepherds with strange questions.

solders and soldering
It was an interesting book that could of had more where soldering actually came from, i enjoyed it and should recomened it to people with an interest in soldering. The instructions were good, though could of had more examples of things you could make, and how to do so. an all up enjoyable book for people who enjoy soldering.

Strategic Operations: Competing Through Capabilities
Published in Hardcover by Free Press (March, 1996)
Authors: Robert H. Hayes, Gary P. Pisano, and David M. Upton
Amazon base price: $50.00

Reaching
A solid work, for the most part. Good distillation of Operatins Strategy. The first half of the book lays out the basics in the right amount of detail. And the second half explores some of the more "interesting" options available to managers today.

While I thought Pisano and company did a good job overall, they seemed to underestimate the power of simply being better than the competition in ALL arenas. This is a strategy that, if achieved, would really make JIT, TQM, and so forth, superfluous. Interestingly, this receives no mention thoughout the entire text.

Transgenic Plants: A Production System for Industrial and Pharmaceutical Proteins
Published in Paperback by John Wiley & Sons (18 December, 1996)
Authors: Meran R. L. Owen and Jan Pen
Amazon base price: $105.00
Average review score:

An Emerging concept - Well handled
The editors have made a sincere and good attempt at introducing the reader to the emerging concept of using transgenic plants as a production system for valuable industrial and pharmaceutical products. In the first half of the book the editors have compiled the various topics which are the fundamental aspects of recombinant protein production in plants, thus making the reader aware of the intricacies involved in genetic manipulation of plants. The editors have also included examples of industrially and pharmaceutically important proteins that have been produced in plants. A few chapters have also been devoted to highlight the potential of using transgenic plants as production systems on comparision with other systems in terms of downstream processing and commercial feasibility. The illustrations are appropriate and in compliance with the text. The editors have also included a number of references at the end of each chapter which makes useful further reading. The only drawback is that the book can be comprehended only by graduate students of biology; and a more simpler version, abundant with illustrations and graphics might be necessary to enlighten the novice. On the whole the book is well organized and a lot of effort has been put in; although there is always scope for improvement.

Screen Printing History
If you want a good history from the 60's of screen printing then this is the book for you. It was first published in 1963 and hasn't been updated since. Old black and white pictures are included that would be seen in an old Popular Mechanics to include the hand drawn illustrations. If your looking to review or learn new techniques or just refresh your memory this is not the book to get. I'm starting my own business and after being out of it for a few years I was wanting a refresher book I could look to. This was not the one.

don't waste your time
if you are looking for a D.I.Y. book on silk screening look elsewhere. this is more of a historical review of the process. the book was copywritten in the '60's so there isn't any "new technology" in the content.

Complete Step by Step Process
This book gives a clear and complete picture of every aspect of press operation and silk screen technique-from individually operated manual presses to modern automatic presses capable of turning out 2000-3000 impressions an hour-and indicates the subject, this volume includes practically everything of importance known about the silk screen process.

The Basics of Mistake-Proofing

Authors: Michael R. Beauregard, Raymond J. Mikulak, and Robin E. McDermott

Just a pocket book
If you just want to know ABC of mistake-proofing, this book will be a very succinct guidance to you. But if not, this book will be very disappointing - too simple and not specific. It makes sense that just 66 page book can't contain details of how to implement mistake-proofing solutions.

Succinct; met my needs.
This book delivers exactly what the title promises. Due to its conciseness, it is a valuable tool for managers who have little time to read, but who need this information.

Cemented Tungsten Carbides: Production, Properties, and Testing

TUNGSTEN CARBIDES PROPERTIES
THERE ARE DETAILED PHASE DIAGRAM,FURNACE MECHANISM,PRESS MECHANISM ETC

A good text book
This book approaches the subject from a scientific point of view rather than an industrial one, which is typical of such a book. The discussions are based on research literature published by well known people in the field of cemented carbides. This book will be helpful for advanced students, and researchers. However, some more data on commercial brands of cemented carbides (a more elaborate discussion in Chapter 14, and 16 on how to select grades for a particular application) would make it better.

save the trees
this book is a complete disaster. As its mysterious title indicates, the book is very vague and does not explain any of the proposed matters. It seems like the author gathers information from here and there and throws it at you in an attempt to make up the chapters. To make the matters worse, the quality of the print and paper is almost as bad as the author's work. Although this book would make a great door stop, it's still a waste of a good tree. PLease save the trees and your money and don't buy this book.

Great Review/Reference
"Electrical Energy Systems" provides easy to understand descriptions and sample problems for the reader. An excellent reference for anyone involved in the Electrical Power Industry.

Planning, Scheduling, and Control Integration in the Process Industries
Published in Hardcover by McGraw Hill Text (10 May, 1995)
Authors: C. Edward Bodington and Edward Bodington
Amazon base price: $69.00
Average review score:

Confusing compound of disparate texts
If the process industry really is consulted by stuff like this, then it is a wonder that process automation serves to enhance productivity. This confusing conglomerate of disparate accounts is likely to be understood only by the authors themselves.

Comprehensive Planning and Scheduling Technologies
I was mainly interested in refinery planning and scheduling technologies. I found the book to be a useful and comprehensive discussion of the various technologies in the planning and scheduling areas. In the latter chapters, the book discusses how the various functions may be intergrated.

I found the information about the EPLP (Extreme Point) LP modeling to be very useful. Although this is not widely used today, there are a number of useful applications for this technology for global refinery modeling and planninng.

I can't believe I bought this book...
Very poorly orginized. Concepts are referenced before being introduced. Explanations are at best superficial. Elemental information is nonexistent. Numerous mistakes in the text and diagrams. Feels like extra information thrown just to bulk it up.

A sloppy and oversimplified overview of CNC
This book tries too hard to cover all aspects CNC and all types of CNC machining. It fails on both fronts. Conversational programming methods are woefully simplistic and often inaccurate. The diagrams are confusing and repetitive. There are not enough examples of actual CNC programs and proper explanations of each individual code. There are far better CNC books on the market. Anyone with no CNC background will gain little form this book. Those with CNC experience will shake their hands and correct the numerous mistakes in the text.

I am a engineering
I am a beginer on cnc so I want you give me some detail book I can chose it Thank you for your help
