It will also be useful for those trying to match the terminology in order to gain best understanding in the diverse multilanguage petroleum community in the world. "

Non-technical professionals will also find the book of equal value. ...will be a welcome addition to the bookshelf of any professional in the exploration and production business. "

Implementing Concurrent Project Management

An expert guide from one of the pioneers of the business
Concurrent Project Management is based on a simple premise: Instead of the traditional method of manufacturing where a design team dumps an unworkable process onto a production group, these groups work together from the beginning or conceptual phase, all the way through production and product delivery. This seems so obvious today but at the time Dr. Turtle was developing this methodology, it was unheard of. I met Chuck Turtle in 1999 as one of his students at the University of Rhode Island. This book was our textbook. The lessons taught in this book have become the basis for my project management career. This book is to project management what Homer is to classics.

Not just for Automation/Control Engineers
This book is not only a very good Industrial Ethernet guide, but is a fine overall Ethernet reference book. Every automation/control engineer should have this in their book collection. The only wish I had was for some additional examples and some real-world benchmark results of iE protocols. This book would also make a fine classroom instruction guide. By far the best book I have seen on this subject, and a very quick read.

Industrial Organic Pigments : Production, Properties, Applications

Amazon base price: $215.00

A must have for anybody using industrial organic pigments
I am a Color Manager for one of the worlds largest paint companies and even though I have been working with pigments for 15 years I have found W. Herbst & K. Hunger's "Industrial Organic Pigments" to be a great reference book which I wouldn't want to miss anymore.
It contains information on almost all of the currently available organic pigments, including chemical structures, properties and much helpful information to each of them.
It is full of information that one needs to make educated decisions on the use of organic pigments and their suitability for the intended purpose.
It is well worth the comparably high price, as this book will save you hours and hours by providing information that one would have to "hunt-down" from suppliers or other books. Highly recommended.

Indepth understanding of Gulf Industrialization
I have read this book because of my interest in the development of industry in the Gulf and particularly the UAE. The book starts with an historical review of the development of industry since the pre-oil era, and the review is concise but quite comprehensive. The book then discusses the population aspect of the UAE and its impact on economic development and it is obvious that the writer has an indepth understanding of the economic and social dimensions of the country. The following chapters are fascinating in that they give first hand experience of the problems that were faced in industrializing the country, and the author relies on his first hand local experience to propose various strategies in which the country can develop its industry successfully.

How Britain's aircraft industry prepared for war
The aurhor is a historian with the British Ministry of Defense so this is a semi-official history. In the late thirties the RAF started a program to expand the production capabilities of the British aircraft industry to cope with the needs of the anticipated war. This book describes how this program was handled. The only criticism one might make is that the lenngth of the book is too short (283 pages) to completely cover such a large subject.

An excellent resource for Acceptance Sampling
I have struggled over acceptance sampling terminology and concepts over the years.. almost the whole duration of my student life in the USA, and working life in Malaysia both in the industry and the academia.

This book explains very clearly the interpretation and use of the OC curves. It tells me especially what AQL and LTPD are, it also tells me why the producer's risk is related to AQL while LTPD is related to consumer's risk (read page 79-80).

This is the first time in my academic career (as a lecturer in the Malaysia Science University) that I have gone further (and more confidently) in explaining about OC curves. This book has certainly enlightened me v-e-r-y m-u-c-h on acceptance sampling. I have actually used many different books for my other operations management classes but I hit the wall when I come to OC curves.

This book also proves my assumption about the sigma in Cpk wrong (read page 70 line #1.) Had it not been for this book, I would have continued to assume that the sigma (in Cpk) is the same sigma as in variance (sigma squared).

This book is succint. Straight to the point and in clear language. The authors do not "beat around the bush". The figures clearly explain the concepts talked about in a particular section for example fig 5.5, and also figure on page 73.

This book has enlightened me, and uncovered many of my wrong assumptions. More to go. Yet to savor the rest of the book.

I would certainly recommend this book to practitioners or students who are serious about quality.
