If you read Ibe's ATM book and like it get ready because you are going to LOVE this book even more. Dr.IBE knows his staff.

If you are a technical person this book will became your bible. If you are not a technical person this book will make you feel as if you were technical but most important will help you understand the subject in not time. (SALES, Managers, QA... Guys take note).

I do not know how he does it but a difficult subjects become clear after he explains them. I been following his writing and I must say that there is no one in my opinion who can explain complicated subjects the way he does. Check his ATM book and you will understand what I mean.

WELL DONE IBE...

This is a great book that goes beyond VoIP. It covers all major network architectures, and the latest enabling protocols like SIP, H.323, MPLS, and H.248. I found the discussions of Voice packet processing and Access schemes particularly helpful.

I thought I knew everything about wireless. But while I was reading I figured a big thing out. I figured that my knowledge about wireless was in the range of 30%-55%. Pretty sad for someone that works in this field. The good news however is that after reading a few chapters I gain SOOOOOOOOOOOO much knowledge that now I can have a knowledgeable conversation with anyone and make perfectly sense.

If you are wondering what technology will take over the world and YOUR "OWN" LIFE in the next few years, you just found it. WIRELESS is what we all must learn in order succeed in our careers not matter what you do for living. If you are a technical person or planning to become a technical person, DO NOT waste your time. Learn WIRELESS you will not regret it.

If you want to have an overview rather than dig into the details about ATM network, this may be your best choice so far.

An excellent book for those who are interested in the new wave of data technology. I highly recommend it to EE's, business development managers and IT managers. It is very easy to read and has become a part of my easy access library.

The number of topics this book hits (although not in-depth or thorough) in 200 pages is quite amazing. I have plenty of reference books on the subject that don't even introduce some of the basic topics that are covered in this book.

TMN, ILMI, CAC, MPOA, LANE, RSVP, IPOA, IISP, PNNI, etc -- they're all introduced (and I do mean just introduced). Ibe is a good technical writer who uses concise, easy to understand language. There are several diagrams that illustrate points that are difficult to visualize and the topics are discussed immediately (you don't have to scan around several different pages to get the gist of something).

I am a programmer writing ATM DSL test automations, so I'm someone who often has to deal in-depth with the many different sectors of ATM technology. Since I have to jump topic to topic within the technology, I find myself having to "remind" myself how something fits in the whole picture. I do this with Ibe's book, so it's definately on my shelf -- but it doesn't gather dust b/c people are always borrowing it!

For someone new to ATM but not a technophile, this book should wet your appetite to get to the more robust (and dry) reference books.

Note: This book is for general introduction/understanding -- not as a reference tool.

If you need to learn about remote access technologies and how they work, this is not the book for you. Although a great deal of topics are included, they are only summed up in brief sections or paragraphs, not explained in depth or related to systems overall.

If you are interested on the (guts)details of romote connection this is your book.

It makes a lot of sence.

Very good book.

As an overview of remote access technologies, this book is excellent. It gives you a starting point when considering remote access options for a business environment. Chapter 9 brings up some good points about security.
