First off, I'm not a builder. I'm a guy with an office job who sits behind a desk all day long. I think the last thing I built was a birdhouse in third grade and it didn't even last long enough to hang it on a tree. So, I knew building a deck was a BIG project. But, this book made it SO easy! The photos are incredible. They don't use sketches and drawings, they have actual photos. The steps are easy to follow and the instructions are clear from the tools needed to the types of screws to use. If you're looking for a how-to guide on decks, this is the best one!

This book is fabulous for anyone who wants to build a deck but doesn't know where to start. My husband and I used this book to build a deck even though we had never built anything this complex before. After looking over the detailed pictures (not drawings) and easy descriptions, we constructed a 16'x22' deck with angles. This book was a great help and I would recommend it to anyone looking to save money by doing it yourself.

This an awesome book for the experienced and beginning haunter.
It takes you step-by-step into turning your haunt into a success.
it has scenes and scare plans which are a good starting point to build off of. Im going to use it this October. Its a great book for anyone starting or continuing to build a haunted house.

Tim Harkleroad covers many ideas for haunting your house as well as quite a few gags for the true Halloweenie that turns their garage or house into a Haunted House at Halloween . Tim is a professional comedian and his talent comes across in the amusing discriptions and illistrations that accompany the abundant ideas in the book , in addition to making the information easy to follow. I used some of Tims gags in my own haunted house and can say that if you follow the directions you will end up with proven scares that startle and amuse your guest or customers. Tim also address some of the concerns that you may face such as saftey or questions from church groups in the same fashion but his tact in handling the problems comes through in a lighthearted way. In an area void of good books on the topic of how to haunt this is a true must have and I would tell every haunter no matter if you are an old pro or a newbie to GET THIS BOOK !

I agree entirely with the reviews of this admirable book. But the buyer should be aware that it's an English publication and all the sources for supplies etc are British. As one who is having a tough time finding American suppliers of materials suitable for antiques who are willing to sell retail, I'm finding that's a fairly big gap.

The book starts by teaching about style through the ages with the help of period drawings and paintings... then a walk through materials and techniques. Even a list of addresses of suppliers of professional upholstery supplies is provided. This is an essential reference for anyone thinking about upholstering anything.

This was the first woodworking how-to book I bought and it has been very informative and I reference it often. With many helpful photos, the author does a good job of explaining all of the basic woodworking fundamentals (how to 4-square wood, how to cut joints, different projects, etc.). There is also a balance between using machines and hand tools. Recommended.

Looked over the book in a local bookstore and was intrigued by the furniture designs found in the book. Picked it up and found that the projects were as simple to make as indicated in the plans. Would highly recommend the book for weekend workshop hobbyists who want woodworking projects that are challenging and rewarding to work with.

It's amazing how much information is in this rather small book. You could keep it in your pocket as you built your own functional yurt. The writing is to the point and very informative. I've checked out many books on building yurts and this is the best. High points of this book for me: clear patterns, listing of materials and tools needed, time estimates for building, vocabulary of yurt parts, basic history of the people who use yurts, their various regions, and yurt variations. Get this book if you really want to build a yurt and do it right.

Despite a couple of glaring erros (Liszt had 2 daughters and a son, not three daughters) or the mispelling of the given name of Poulenc's 'aunt', it is easy to overlook all of this for what lies ahead in this beautiful volume. It is well worth owning and makes one want to go to the dwelling place where so much great music was created.

it's not clear to me why this book has not been released as I just saw it in a bookstore in downtown San Francisco. The book is a gem. There is enormous satisfaction in seeing the milieu in which a great work of musical composition took place. The quality of the photographs have nothing banal or boring about them and enhance the very message they so succesfully convey. A gorgeous book and more than a volume to grace a coffee table. The text is also very worthwhile.

What would you do if you are going to be free after seven years of prison, and you are involved at a jail outbreak?
The story is amazing and will keep you reading all the time that you maybe will end this book the same day you start it, maybe the chapter 1 is a little bit boring, but that is all, the rest of the book is great.
Here I have a question, how could you believe that the justice say that you have to go to the war and defend your country with your life, and when you are at home and kill someone in self defense you go to jail?
I definitely recommend this book.

While I was riding the "EL" to work I saw this book being read by a number of people over the last month, so I decided that there must be something to it. I recently moved to Chicago and am begining to look for a condo. I found that the authors writing style was not like any of those Dummies or Idiots Books prepared by the "HOW TO" writers but actually by a Chicago developer and broker who tells a good story. Mark hit me where I live, I enjoyed learning from his book because it is an easy read and covers the "never discussed" area's of what you really really need to consider before taking the plundge into home ownership. This man writes from years of practicle experience and it shows. I then realized that Mark had writen other books as well so I purchased those too. I think that after I buy my condo the next step will be investment property. Thanks Mark!!

Rae's Conservative Reformers does a wonderful job of taking an objective look at the 104th Congress and the Republican Freshmen involved. Not only does Rae look at this one Congress, but at one hundred years of Congress and their decline in power that made a reform group necessary. Rae does an excellent job of analyzing the budget crisis of 1995-1996 and what implications this had among the freshmen in Congress. For anyone interested in politics, this book is a "must read."

A comprehensive and scholarly treatment of the new majority has been long awaited. To the citizen desiring political knowledge, as well as to the academic, Conservative Reformers provides the most thorough discussion of the freshmen, their political motivations, and the institutional constraints they faced. Additionally, Rae weaves his observations, data, and interviews into a solid theoretical framework that beckons the philosophical. Particularly useful were the initial chapters, which provide an historical overview of the themes addressed throughout. For example, the author demonstrates that public disaffection with Congress is not a new addition to the political landscape in the U.S. Most humorous are the pages addressing the rise of the Republican candidates in the 1980's, as one can only imagine such antics in Congress. Finally, the chapter on the budget impasse was by far the most entertaining and engaging consideration of the topic that I have yet to see. Long after the Republican takeover ceases to be a current event, Conservative Reformers will continue to interest readers due to its analytical and theoretical richness.
