Ginzburg tells a very touching story of a very close, honest group of friends whose main source of communication is the seemingly lost art of letter writing.

If you read anything by Natalia Ginzburg, read this gorgeous novel set in various houses and flats around Rome, Italy and New Jersey. The story is told in letters, but Ginzburg's characters are not emotionally-confined as one might expect with this genre. This novel examines love and its duration, across years of friendship and parenting.

I been reading this Bible for close to eight years now and love it so much, I am purchasing two for my 2 daughters.

The Cross Reference System in this Bible is an excellant reference tool for those new to reading the Bible. I purchased my first, after reading the introduction and preface. It is a new translation from the best available Hebrew, Aramaic and Greek texts.

The sectional headings, at the beginning of each book, Summarize the title, background, author, date of writing, theme of Book, and Message, which for me, enhanced my reading of each Book.

I recommend this as an everyday-use Bible.

Don't be mis-led by the photo at the top of the page. This Bible has a high-quality, plain navy blue leather cover with silver printing on the binder and silver-leaf pages.

As with all NIV's the print is clear and easy to read. The page is in a two-column format, with Christ's words in red letters. The layout is clean since there are no study guides or running commentaries (a plus as far as I am concerned; I find them distracting). There is a brief concordance with a few maps in the back.

It's a clear, readable, and convenient Bible that should last for years.

I just bought this book because after just having a baby, I was looking for less toxic cleaning solutions for my home and family. The recipes are sooooo simple to make, you won't have to spend lots of time searching for random items. Everything can be found at your local grocery store. It is easy to read and actually funny...this book threatens to make you want to clean your home. A recipe for general household cleaner includes water, borax soap, vineger or lemon juice, and a 1/8 teaspoon of dishwashing soap. You could use an even milder soap if you wanted. There are fun tidbits of history such as how the dishwasher got invented, how no one used to clean their rugs before the vacuum cleaner was invented. I liked it so much I want to by the other books in the series. For someone who wants to learn how to clean everything with everyday products that are safe and non-toxic, this book is for you. If you are looking for a serious "green" living handbook, I'd suggest a different book. This book would be fun for any mom trying to get her kids more involved in cleaning, too.

This book is great for getting back to the basics in cleaning, etc. The old ways are somttimes better than using a lot of chemicals

This book makes those hard messes seem so easy. with time saving tech I am able to spend more time with the family and not have to morn over somthing as simple as a stain in the carpet. The Author Jill C. Major, and Eugenia Chapman are simply the best!

This book is great. It is full of cleaning secrets. It includes information about how to clean all areas of your home and keep them clean. It is organized according to area (bathrooms, kitchens, floors etc.). The best part about this book is that it focuses on new cleaning shortcuts to help you maintain a clean home. That way, you aren't constantly cleaning a completley messy home. This book also includes recommendations for great cleaning products and tools, a stain guide to help you get out almost any stain, and recipes to make your own safe cleaning products. The authors have also put a lot of fun cleaning facts, statistics, and poems in the book. This is a great book for every household!

The book has alot of information. I own one of the old Machetes and it was quite interesting to read about it. I would highly recommend this bood to anyone owning a Collins Machete.

Since I appear many times in the text of this book as an observor, as a facilitator, and as a source, it may be considered presumptuous for me to review it. But since I am competent to do so, here goes. Ed and I knew each other from 1971 when we first met. Since I am in MD and he was in CA our face time was limited but we kept in close touch by snail mail and phone. He made many trips to the source at Collinsville and I dug a large amount of materials out of the National Archives, Smithsonian, and the Library of Congress. Since Ed focused strictly on Collins products and only on the sub lines of machetes and I am interested in all military edged tools and cutlery as well as axe work in general, we overlapped our interests. Is this the book I have written or would have? Certainly not, but I know for certain that it is all in focus and, unless there is a new vast discovery of documents, if there is anything more to be known about Collins machetes you can put in a very small pot. By focusing as he did Ed was able to find things that I never did nor even thought to look for. The ultimate test of this kind of book is is it interesting, and is it useful? I think it is so, and I wll be able to chop out all the corporate history which was in my original work and refer the reader to this one. Carter Rila

...that really work together. The photography of the rooms is beautiful. The back section shows swatches of the colors used in the room photographs. Very useful. This book can be used as a reference beyond home decorating -- it will be of valuable whenever you need to work with color.

What a treat!! The color schemes in this book are wonderful. I have several different books on color and this is by far one of my favorites. From deep browns to pale pinks, this offers something for everyone. And the photography will blow you away...

This book had me absorbed day after day examining the photo's and advice. It's the inspiration to overcome those white walls and neutral tones you see in every house you visit on the block. To decorate with a flare and have the confidence to use color, the book is a must-have.

Ms Wills has a wonderful way with words. She has a great way of presenting the detailed "why and wherefore" of the color decorating decision process, yet never runs the danger of losing her readers. A feeling of involvement throughout, i.e. "We're in this together, let's have fun." A great book to hold as a reference, and one you can easily recommend to friends.

I am studying Interior Design...and this book is great! It is easy to read and very helpful!

I own about 25 books on interior design and home decoration. This is certainly in my top three, and probably the most oft consulted of them all. Each chapter covers one of the basic colours, from green and blue through to pinks and neutrals. But after this sparse description it is hard to convey the beauty and depth of this book. When I say cover a colour, I mean really explore it. It's cool version, warm version, soft, light, borderline with its neighbouring colour on the colour wheel.

And the way that each colour is covered is unique. Very minimal (but useful) text, and instead full page pictures of utterly inspiring interiors featuring the colour tone/intensity on each and every page. It uses excellent photographs from a wide and rich range of interior design. All true to life from real (moderna and historical) homes - and usually illustrating a good marriage between a particular colour/shade and the style it most compliments. Going through it, one soon becomes aware of one's taste. The pictures are so good - so evocative of the theme of that particular colour - that one has a simple emotional response of things like "love", "comforting", "not me", "does nothing for me", "joyful", etc. Using this book and trusting my visceral response to the delightful, subtle shades on each page, I virtually decorated my whole house.

A very sophisticated book on colour, that speaks to us in the most simple of ways - through the eye to the heart.

I have read Community Houses of Prayer in the context of a participants group. I looked forward to the debriefing sessions when we were often humbled by examples of God's faithfulness in answer to our prayers. My participation in CHOP made me realize that I could be involved in evangelism for the first time in my life. What may be unique in Dr. Gale's approach is the intertwining of strategic prayer with an emphasis on spiritual warfare and the keeping of a record of one's experiences during the twelve week CHOP program. The content is sharply focused to encourage the participant's spiritual renewal. I recommend this publication to Christians who want support in undertaking lifestyle evangelism.

God clearly calls His people to be faithful witnesses of His saving grace to the communities where He places them. As I seek to lead a church to fulfill this responsibility, I've found the CHOP ministry to be extremely effective in directing the participants (myself & others) to think more carefully about those contacts God has already given to us. With these contacts in mind, we are not told 'to just do it', but encouraged and
instructed first to see that our efforts are to be 'bathed in prayer' and then to seek to impact the lives of others by building these relationships with a demonstration of transforming grace in our own lives and the Word of God.

Buying a house without reading this book first would be the biggest mistake that you will ever make. This book resides on the top shelf of my bookcase where it has remained for seven years. There are his & hers bookmarks and twenty plus folded corners in my copy. The wife let someone borrow it once, for ONE day (never again!). Now we are looking for a new house and this book is just as valuable today as it was many years ago.

Several years ago this was the best single book about home buying which I could find. It covers financing options, renting vs. buying, new homes vs. old, maintenance and replacement, the buying process, things to look for when inspecting property, remodeling, etc. Currently out-of-print, but still an excellent reference. Most of he material is still relevant to today's home buyers.
