Talk about a right on time blessing! I received PRAYERS THAT PREVAIL as a gift from a friend. This is a book that is loaded with prayers for seemingly any and every life situation that is reinforced by Bible verses. In addition to the astounding, soul stirring prayers, it has an educational session at the beginning of the book that instructs, informs and guides the reader into their own personal prayer journey. This book is nothing short of amazing! I would highly recommend this to anyone who is looking to grow closer in their personal relationship with God and with himself. "You won't leave home without" this little book. It is one of the most astounding prayer books you will ever own. I have purchased at least sixty (60) of them for gifts. Every prayer is backed up with Bible verses that you will know, if you are a student of the Word. . . verses you will love to know, if you are in need of GOD and His Word. By the way, who isn't in need of GOD and His Word these days? You will want PRAYERS THAT PREVAIL FOR YOUR CHILDREN next ! And for those of you out there who love America, you will want PRAYERS THAT PREVAIL FOR AMERICA.

This book explains how to learn to pray. What things should be included in prayer. To get you started, there are lots of prayers (backed up with the Word) that you can start praying and personalize. It was wonderful and exactly what I needed!

I come from an art background, and I'm always a little worried about becoming the proverbial, "starving artist". This book provided me with a wealth of knowledge to get started on the right foot. I'm writing up my first year's business plan, creating a portfolio, and will begin marketing soon. This book is an excellent resource for anyone getting started.

This was a Christmas gift to my son, our family handyman who loves to dabble in wordworking. Family and friends have encouraged him to quit his job as an Engineer and do this full-time. He has accumulated an impressive collection of carpentry tools and books on "How to build....." (You name it and he has a book on how to build it.) Of all his books, this is the only one that provided him with a thorough insight of the business aspect of woodworking. He said this book is the only one that gave him the proper "business tools" to decide whether or not to make a career change. He hasn't made a career change yet, but reading this book has helped him understand the industry a lot better and what he will have to do to turn his hobby into a viable business to support his family.

I found this book very informative with many professional examples. It gave me an insight into all the necessary steps to start my own woodworking business. Well worth the money!

I found this book answered all the questions I had thought of, and many that I had not have considered. It gave a great deal of information and presented it in a way that did not overwhelm you.

This book documents what I have understood for many years. BLA is one the premier american residential architectural firms. Beautiful work! Fabulous projects! A joy to peruse. The book has interior and exterior photos of several "Pure" California design approaches from Spanish, to Coastal, to Tuscan style. If you are building a home, or enjoy good architecture, you will not be disappointed.

This book will bring give you a lot of inspiration whether you be an architect or interior designer. This is one of the best architectural/design books i've ever come across. great photography.

We are building a new house. The pictures and home layouts in this book inspired many new ideas. It was a great resource when feeling overwhelmed with so many options to choose from. Everything in these homes are first class.

The illustrations in this book are fantastic. My kids love the book because the artwork brings the stories alive. They are beautiful creations.

There hasn't been a wonderfully illustrated book of Greek Myths for over thirty years, until this lovely Random House book came out. Science fiction author (and anthropologist) Joan D. Vinge breathes vibrant life into the ancient stories so that they touched me as though they were brand new. Their universality is clear and powerful, thousands of years later, in the hands of this masterful author. And the illustrations by artist Oren Sherman are vivid and marvelously colorful. I'm eager to re-read them with children, so that I can share the wonder of these timeless tales.

Ideal introduction to Greek mythology, with gorgeous, deeply colored illustrations. This would make a great Christmas gift for bright children.

Although it's a large and heavy book, this is the best of its kind. Many of the selections were transcribed from more academic anthologies such as Andrew Lang's colored Fairy Books, but it's BEAUTIFULLY illustrated and has all the most famous fairy tales, including Thumbelina, The Little Mermaid, The Ugly Duckling, The Pied Piper, Cinderella, The Princess and the Pea, The Fisherman and his Wife, The Three Little Pigs, Beauty and the Beast, The Gingerbread Man, The Brave Little Tailor, Rapunzel, Puss in Boots, The Emperor's New Clothes, Hansel and Gretel, The Golden Goose, Rumpelstiltzkin, Goldilocks and the Three Bears, Jack and the Beanstalk, some of the Arabian Nights tales, and much more. Plus it has a few of the most well known of Aesop's Fables, such as The Hare and the Tortoise, and the most well known nursery rhymes, such as The Three Little Kittens, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, Mary Had a Little Lamb, Jack and Jill, etc. The only major fairy tale they left out, I felt, was The Little Match Girl (Hans Christian Andersen's crowning achievement, with The Little Mermaid). But if you're hunting for a book with the greatest assortment of WELL KNOWN fairy tales and nursery rhymes, look no further.

After an exhausting hunt though Amazon, the library and the bookstore I found this 'treasure'. I though I would end up with three or four separate books to get what I wanted - fairy tales, mother goose rhymes and Aesop fables. Whew they are in here. The style is keep fairy traditional and only updated when needed. There are graphics on every page making enjoyable for young readers or listeners.

This book is beautiful to be read to children and the illustrations are fascinating. This is a must-have for all parents!

For those of you who are getting bored with conventional crossword puzzles and want to try something different, try a cryptic crossword. It combines the grid and clues of a regular crossword with a bit of wordplay to make it tougher and more interesting. This book provides excellent instructions on how to solve one, with plenty of examples and 8 warm-up puzzles. Next come 15 standard block cryptic puzzles for you to practice on. Then comes the type of cryptic puzzle that Cox and Rathvon are known for: their variety cryptics. These puzzles have a extra twist to them, such as missing clues or grid letters, words changing direction or position in the grid, modified letters, and other devilish permutations to keep you on your toes. These 50 variety cryptics are taken from the pages of the Atlantic Monthly. Finally, Cox and Rathvon provide a couple of chapters on the rules and strategies for creating your own cryptic puzzles.

Once you get the hang of it, solving cryptics is like eating potato chips... you simply can't stop. So you will be happy to know that there is a companion book to this one, called "Atlantic Monthly Cryptic Crosswords," that picks up where this one leaves off and provides another 45 devilishly difficult variety cryptics for you to enjoy.

Cox and Rathvon are the best in the biz at cryptic crosswords, and this is an excellent introduction to their work. They have written a very clear and helpful explanation for how cluing works in cryptics, and also a variety of puzzles to practice with, ranging from those for rank beginners to some "variety" cryptics that will challenge savvy, experienced solvers.

The American crosswording public is largely unfamiliar with the cryptic crossword, and are baffled when one turns up. No more! Cox and Rathvon introduce us to this clever and entertaining form of wordplay, taking a very effective phased approach, teaching us the tricks one by one until we're ready to set off on our own. The book also includes eight practice puzzles and 65 full-sized puzzles, graded by difficulty. Anyone who loves word games will want this book. But beware! You'll become hooked on cryptic crosswords; don't say I didn't warn you!

This is a GREAT value. Very in depth and very thorough. This book covers it all, it even has the fingerspell alphabet and numbers in the back of the book. As far as a sign language dictionary this is the very best one I found, and I looked at several. Not small enough to carry around in your pocket but I don't think anything with this much information could be that small.

This dictionary was recommended to me by my sign instructor. The signs are clearly illustrated and the definitions are in great details in this dictionary. I think this dictionary is right for all levels of sign students.

This book has wonderful pictures for most of the words in the book. It also has nice instructions on how to form the words and letters. In the back it includes the alphabet and cardinal & ordinal numbers. It is also at a very good value!

This handy reference book contains a lot of info for its size. Not just a list of words, it includes other sections such as "sound-spelling correspondences" and "words commonly misspelled" (spelling one of the most "misspelled" words correctly!). It throws in brief definitions when necessary, as in the distinction between "hare" and "hair." And if you want to know how George Bernard Shaw came up with spelling "fish" as "ghoti" it tells you that too. Grabbing this books is way easier than hauling out my beloved but heavy American Heritage when all I want to do is check the spelling of a word.

This book is a lifesaver. It contains word forms that can't be found in large dictionaries or online dictionaries. When no one else can document a word spelling in their big ol' clunky dictionary, I just grab my handy Webster's Spell Checker..., and voilà!

This dictionary is useful even in today's age of computer spell checkers. This paperback edition is portable and convenient to store and use. Not only does it contain the root word, but also the most used derivatives of that word. Also included is a section on accepted abbreviations. Highly recommended.
