Excellent book ! Wonderful folkart designs.
I think all quilters should own this book. The directions are easy and include both rotary and template patterns. The pictures of the finished designs are vibrant and beautiful. I taught a beginning quilting class and we used this as our "textbook". Many of the quilts featured can be completed in just a few hours. Also, my favorite part of the book is how the quilts are shown on display. These pictures offer great decorating ideas.

A great first quilting book
This was the first quilt book I ever bought and dozens of books later, I still think it is one of the best I own. The authors make quilting fun, not intimidating, and provide instructions so clear and simple that a child could follow them. Better yet, their style is very distinctive--elegantly simple, with beautiful color choices, and lots of pictures showing how to use the quilts to decorate your home. If you long to see what quilting is about, but don't quite trust your skills or taste, try "Little Quilts." You will learn confidence as well as skills...and everyone will love your quilt.

Inspiring for beginers!
I loved the easy to use instructions and the colorful examples. I really enjoyed the course I took given by the authors, Alice Berg, Mary Ellen Von Holt and Sylvia Johnson, in Norway. Thank you for your inspiring book. This is a definite must have book on any quilters shelf/night stand.

A very good written book with tons of ideas
I believe this book is very useful. We are looking for our first house now, so I've gone through a great amount of decorating books and magazines, and I was quite naive thinking that I know the subject pretty well. I was so mistaken! It's turned out I had no idea about basic principles of home decorating (though my friends find my home very cozy, yes, they really do!). I could never imagine before, that a book with few illustrations (but rich and great looking) may be so useful. But it isn't illustrations that count. This book is a must to read before you'll take any other book filled with pictures, because it tells you what's behind the scene and instead of copying someone's else idea, it teaches you to create you own. Also, it's written with a great style and humor, very easy and interesting to read (I even put away my detective story!)

how to bring style home with easy affordable decorating
I would love to get touch with Lina or someone who can direct me in the right direction on how to start a bussniess in interrior decorating or even work under someone in my errior i'm very interrested in becoming a home decorater. Please contact me on my email or reach me by phone (860)2258902. Thank you,

Thelma Mc David

Smashing book for novice or harried homeowner alike.
Very reader-friendly and user-friendly book for those of us who do not have a lot of money to spend to decorate. Because it is written in first person, Linda Dano, explains all facets of decorating wonderfully. Tips are very easy to follow. Visually, the book is very attractive.

Great Book!
I am currently building a Cabin and found Len McDougals book intresting. Whatever his publisher paid him for this story could not be enough money for me. Having previously lived in Michigan for 23 years, it brought back some fond memories of both camping and the bugs. I will most likely purchase another one of his books.

An excellent book with an incredible story.
Probably most people have fantasized about what it would be like to build and live in a log cabin the way our forefathers did, but almost no one ever does. Len McDougall did, and the stories he relates of that experience are just incredible. The brutal labor, swarms of biting insects, the injuries and loneliness, encounters with dangerous animals, and the sheer unfettered freedom he found all make this book a must-have for anyone who reads.

You won't want to put this book down!!!
This book is great, McDougall's writings put you right into the woods! If you ever wanted to escape the city life and head for isolation in the woods you will enjoy this book. And if you ever thought that being self-reliant was a piece of cake you need to explore the chapters of this book, written by an experienced woodsman. I Highly recomend this book!!!

Enjoyable reading with a wealth of information
I have been reading everything I can find about log homes. Most of the books I have read are more like an information text book. Lots of facts but boring. Logs Wind and Sun gives you the facts and how to use them along with a very enjoyable story of the trials and tribulations the authors encountered building there own log home. This gives you a much better idea of what to expect building your own log home from scrath or from a kit. The detailed information on solar and wind energy is a real eye opener. It opened up a whole new possibility of finding what my wife and I want in a piece of land to build our retirement log home on. We thought that land with no power was out of the question. Now we know that is exactly what we want. With this book you have nearly all the information you need to build a self sufficient log home. If your dream is to have a log home in the mountains far from the "rat race", Logs Wind and Sun is a must have book. Live your dreams!

Interesting, informative and easy to read!
When I started reading Logs Wind and Sun, I imagined I would skim the more detailed parts about construction since I don't plan to build a log home. I bought the book because I was interested in solar and wind generated electricity. But in the end, I read everything. Whenever I tried to skim, I soon came across something that caught my interest and, before I realized it, I was totally entranced with the story. The framed inserts break up the flow of the text and add little tid bits of information just when some variety is necessary. Rex's Maxims and LaVonne's Verities are a novel way of introducing light humor while at the same time making an important point. The illustrations were very concise, attractive and easily understandable. The photography was out of this world and the photos very appropriately located within the text. Every photo enhanced the message on the page where it was found. Logs Wind and Sun is clearly a product of team work, the story of a couple who, working together, accomplished their dream. I loved it, and also learned what I wanted to know about solar and wind power.

A Must Read for Log Home Wannabes
Logs, Wind and Sun is one of those rare books that is both packed with useful information and enjoyable to read. I only wish it had been available five years ago when my husband and I started drawing up plans for our own log home. We spent hundreds of hours and thousands of dollars trying to get utilities to our remote mountain building site. This book clearly lays out alternative power solutions that can give you the freedom to live with all the modern conveniences you need miles from the nearest power pole. The authors personal experience provides the framework for the book, but they have obviously done their homework, and all their recommendations are backed up by copious facts. The book is generously sprinkled with photos and illustrations that de-mystify and explain and personal stories that entertain and inspire. LaVonne's Verities and Rex's Maxims give you personal insights and quips. And the writing is several notches above most other how-to books, offering emotional insights into the process of building your own home, as well as the more expected practical fare. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who's ever dreamed about building a log home.

A Fascinating Treasure, even for young readers
My 7 year old son, Aaron, and I have just finished reading Macon Treasures Remembered. He was totally fascinated with it! What a wonderfully done work. It was so special to me to be able to tell him about the town in which I grew up.

Macon Treasures, Remembered
This book has been needed a long time! The photos are spectacular! The anecdotes tickle your tastebuds for more. It makes you want to go on a tour of each home and learn more. Thank goodness these authors preserved the memories of times past and talents shared of people who cared about building a city of warmth and beauty in which to live out their lives and for generations to appreciate over a hundred and seventy years later. A great book to sit with by the fire and take a journey back in time and be inspired for today.

Exceptional creation!
This is a wonderful book. Venture into the world of antebellum Georgia as you relive the characters and mansions of beautiful, historic Macon, GA--the city that Sherman by-passed but General Layfayette visited. The authors and photographer have taken extraordinary pains in recreating the old South. Outstanding photography and dynamic history. Every home should have one gracing their living room coffee table. Excellent Christmas present for people who have everything.

Early and Innocent Lifetime of a Lovely Person and Place
I had the joy of reading much of this book on Father's Day. In addition to learning about the early and innocent lifetime of a lovely person and place, this book caused me to reflect on my relationships with the FATHERS in my life as well as to hope that my four children and eight grandchildren have as fond memories of their time with me as the author has had with her FATHERS.

The recurrent theme of this book is that the author's life has been and continues to be dedicated to two FATHERS. Her most important FATHER is her LORD and the other is her surrogate Father, Dadda Saunders.

This book provides a lovely description of the childhood and teenage years of a person whose life-experiences reflect God's love and guidance throughout her life. The book demonstrates that from an early age the author had a recognizable, but ill-defined, innate trust in God's purpose for her life. She knew that God had prepared her in His own way for His own purposes.

Dadda Saunders owned the Majuba House. Dadda was physically handicapped from injuries he suffered during World War I; but, his dedication to and obvious love for the author knew no boundaries. Portions of the book describe how he spent much of his time with the author. In brief, Dadda was the most important person in her life.

Dadda and the Lord taught the author to appreciate many things, including integrity, faithfulness, honor, and a love of reading. I have had the pleasure of knowing the author for several years and I am pleased to note that both she and her husband exemplify each of these characteristics.

Respectfully submitted, Craig D. Turnbull, PhD

"A wonderful book"
"Joyce Brogdon is a gift from God! Her life's story of growing up in pre-world war 2 England as a child will touch your heart as she searched for acceptance and a sense of belonging. It captivated me as I read chapter by chapter. It was such a blessing to watch how God put just the right people into her life that gave her a sense of belonging especially in the Majuba House. The book takes you through World War 2 and the trauma of living in a country that was ravaged by war. But, the overwhelming message is when Joyce trusts Christ as her Savior and finds the forgiveness and healing that was so long needed in her life. In Christ she found eternal acceptance and belonging and a home that is forever. I wholeheartedly recommend this wonderful book"!

Thank you Joyce, for allowing me the privilege of reading this book.

The following is quoted from the back cover:

Majuba House is the story of a past era that has relevance in the new millennium. It is a timeless message of hope for people who are born into unusual circumstances, and raised amid times of uncertainty, strife or war.

The setting is a tiny village in Suffolk on the east coast of England, and covers the period from 1934 through the war until 1946 when the author and thousands of GI brides sailed to America.

The book follows the author's progress through the happy, innocent early years as a foster child, through the tumultuous teen years and into an abrupt adulthood. It recounts the national, family and personal turmoil that began with the outbreak of war, and shows God's merciful guidance in the search for eternal truth and everlasting peace.

The unique house where love abounded symbolizes life as it should be. It exemplifies dignity, grace and strength: qualities that endure in an ever changing world. It symbolizes in an earthly way how God's heavenly mantle of security covers us, guides us and protects us long before our spirits are awakened to the realization of His protective love and salvation.

Fantastic, a true home reference book
This book is fantastic. It provides guidance on just about every home/housekeeping problem, from how to fold a fitted sheet to how to remove smoke odors from a room to how to restore wood furniture and paint a room. It makes practical recommendations (like purchasing cleaning products from a janitorial supply company) and is very easy to read. I recently purchased another housekeeping reference book, Home Comforts, and was disappointed because, in my opinion, there was no way I could meet all the expectations discussed in the book for keeping my house clean. Mary Ellen's book, on the other hand, is very realistic and makes suggestions that anyone can accomplish --how to maintain your house without constantly doing housework. It even has a whole chapter of recommendations on how to quickly prepare your home to sell it. I plan to send this book to people as a housewarming present.

A book everyone needs!
This is truly an encyclopedic collection of housekeeping hints. Mary Ellen Pinkham has done her research. If you love to read, then most likely you don't want to spend hours just cleaning your home. Once you learn some of her quick and easy solutions to everyday problems, you will have more time to spend on yourself.

While I use just a few basic cleaners, you will find oodles of specific cleaning hints and tips. You will also be warned not to mix chlorine cleaning products with baking soda. I was surprised to find information on refinishing furniture, saving time, saving energy and saving money. Those are things we could all learn whether we like to clean or not.

I would recommend this for a new bride, for your own reference library, or as a gift for your friends who are interested in having all the answers to their questions in one convenient book.

Tremendous resource!
I received this book as a wedding gift, and have found it to be an invaluable reference tool in my life as a homemaker. Any question about how to clean ANYTHING can be answered with this book. The author includes recipes for homemade cleaning solutions that REALLY work, as well as tips for "frugal" living and ecological conservation. Illustrated drawings help teach how to "fix" things that the husband keeps promising he will and never seems to get around to doing. Everyone should have a copy of this book in their home!

A Great Resource!
I bought this book in preparation for painting rooms in our first home. Having always rented, I didn't know what all was required in preparing your surface or how to choose the proper application tools. This book started from the beginning and included these topics. The examples throughout the book are marvelous and the directions for achieving such great effects, as stenciling, colorwashing, stippling, sponging, ragging, etc. are easy to understand. The instructions also include applying the these techniques to not only walls, but objects like picture frames, candlesticks and furniture if appropriate. A must have for anyone who is redocorating their home and wants to stretch their budget a little further by using paint techniques.

Great book for any skill level!
I am a professional faux finisher/muralist, and I really enjoyed this book. I have literally dozens of books on decorative painting techniques, and this is one of my favorites. It's like an encyclopedia- lots of different techniques explained very clearly, with good general info. If you're not sure what type of finish you're looking for, this would be a good book to invest in. Also has a good color reference for help on mixing your own paint colors. Another nice feature is that there are finishes in both water and oil based paints. Some Faux books only deal with oils, which i personally don't like to work with because of the smell and clean-up, etc... If you're looking for a more advanced book, I'd suggest "The Art of Faux" by Pierre Finkelstein.

An excellant start for a beginner or a expert...
I am currently reading this book as I prepare to redecorate my home using painting techiques. This book is excellant in the volume of information it contains from a discussion of colors, paints, glazes, brushes, and tools to specific techniques such as sponging, ragging, stippling, color washing, etc. I found the contents to be very specific yet simple enough for a beginner like me. The best feature however is the variety of color pictures that accompany each topic. Once I have mastered the simpler techniques, this book will allow me to move on to the more advanced techniques which are also included. Happy painting!

If you have never read any of Max's books, I urge you to do so. His writing style is easy to read, and you will learn things about God painlessly. I am reading Just Like Jesus and I can't put it down. I am underlining so much and taking notes, what insight! An enjoyable yet informative read. I can't hardly put the book down. Thanks Max for all you do.

The opinion of my better half
I have still not been able to get this book away from my wife long enough to read it. She is VERY impressed with it, and in fact is buying ten more copies to give to friends and loved ones.
We have read several of Max Lucado's books, but this is one of the best (I am told).

Thank You Max
The inspiration, humour and pure joy I received when reading books by Max Lucado cannot be counted. Max has helped me answer many questions in my walk with God. He is funny, and Max, I have to say you have a case of "stuckititis" with me. I am looking forward to my next purchase of a Max Lucado next week. Your penmanship, your ministry, and your love for humankind shows in your writings. I thank God that I have found this treasure.

Thank you Max

Miscarriages, Abortions & Stillborn Babies (In The House of God)

From Another To Another
As A 27yr.old Women who has had two(2)natural abortions and who has deliverd numerous"STILLBORN" babies(spritually). I must admit this book has not only changed my life, but my mind set about forgiving myself. As women in the chruch there are so many people that are afraid to share there testomoines, and because of that, there are millions of women and men across the globe that will perish form a lack of knowledege. This book not only shares an experice, but offers you away to experice the thought of "DESTINY". YOU WILL KNOW THAT THE SRIRITUAL CHILD IN YOU MUST BE BORN. I know this book will help you if you are being tormented because of a abortion, or even if you have given birth to a child or ministry, but its not fully developed yet.Get this book and Glean from the revelation for you future. Theres hope, understanding, and mostly theres away to be healed in this book. This book has truly enriched my life and others I have shared it with.Don't miss the opportunity to invest in your deliveance, and HEALING .

An absolutely annointed knockout for all women.
This book is a must read. Lorna Wren allowed God to use her in such a way that all women can relate in some form or fashion. Naked and not ashamed she reveals her pain, not just her pain but the pain of so many women in the house of God and out of the house of God.

A Prophet's Perspective
I was very impressed with her book for many different reasons. Lorna addresses some very real issues that arise in the church. Pregnancy and abortions are a underground tunnel that seems to have no end. Even though she comes from a natural metaphor there are some very serious spiritual implications. I myself have aborted some spiritual babies myself and felt very dead inside. I had no one to tell me how to handle my baby or even nurture it. God has sent forth much healing through this book, and I also believe that there will be many more healings that will take place around the world. From a prophetic perspective Mrs. Wren has foreseen a coming of the next move of God in the Apostolic and Prophetic. It is imperative to be free from such horrific issues of the past and to face them upfront because if we don't face them the devil will expose them for us ( in this next move ). I'm very proud of this writing and I pray that she will come with the sequel very soon. It is very easy to read and heartfelt, I like her realness. I'm of the persuasion that God can't use anybody who refuses to be real and share with the hurting that We've been hurting to you're not alone. Even though this book would appear to be for women, I charge and urge every man that has a relationship with God to allow this book to minister to them. It will also teach us the importance of pushing our spouses into purpose and support them in what God has called them to do and not be jealous of them. I'm a man and this book touched the very core of my spirit and my being. If you haven't lost, aborted, or miscarried any natural children check out the spiritual one's. According to Mrs. Wren we're going to have to answer to God either way. I applaud her.
