In a word, gorgeous!
I'll just make this short and sweet for this short and sweet book. I only wish it had more pages! Inspirational style... if you like bohemian luxury, Indian decor is for you. Get this book to get your ideas rolling with colors, textures, textiles, furniture. Eye candy!

Full of Creative Ideas
This book is excellent for those seeking to add a little Indian Influence into the room. Most pictures focus on living room or bedroom areas. However, there are ideas for almost every area. One thing I admired about this book was the use of various color schemes. They show ideas for bold colors like blues and purples and other room designs for quiter elegance such as cremes and beiges. There is something for everyone with a little fondness of Indian Style!

A good basic primer on India Style
This book has beautiful photographs of both interiors and exteriors. Most elements of this style, as shown in this book, can be translated by people wanting to incorporate India style into their home. The book tells you which design elements in each photo represent India Style. This book brings India style into the present while still paying homage to the past.

Like other books in the Architectual & Design Library series, this book is great for people who are just starting to explore a style and/or people who want to add a book representative of a style to their collection.

I recommend this book to everyone.

Wonderful recipes and easy to use
This is a cookbook I can't get enough of, every recipe I've tried has turned out fantastic. Directions are easy to follow and spices easy to forgo or subsitute with great results. Would recomend to anyone vegetarian or not. Can't stop making the Dal and Sweet Saffron Rice. Mm.

Easy & Delicious
My husband and I both love Indian cuisine and have tried many times over the years to cook it, much to our disappointment. We've purchased many Indian cookbooks, but we could never get the recipes to turn out very good. We had almost given up and resigned ourselves to only eating Indian food at restaurants. Then I found this book. It came recommended to me by some Indian friends who said it was easy, authentic & they enjoyed most of the recipes. So far, every recipe we've tried has been great. I am getting results as good or better than restaurant fare for the first time in years! And the recipe presentation is so easy, I'm even trying to make some of the recipes that I used to think would be too hard, like some of the stuffed breads. I have a lot of cookbooks, but I find myself making recipes out of this one all the time. There are also plenty of quick recipes, so even if you've had a long day, you can still have great Indian meal in a half an hour. If you like Indian food, you won't be disappointed with this book.

Easy to make, authentic tastes, lower-fat Indian food
I can say quite accurately that I have tasted every single dish in this excellent Indian vegetarian cookbook. The genesis of this collaboration between Ms. Humbad and Dr. Boger is described by the publisher's review. What emerged from this collaboration were accurate and well-tested refinements of classic Indian dishes: accurate to the tastes of India, altered over the years of collaboration to lower the fat content - but not too much to change the taste. Substitutions of ingredients were tried to accommodate availability but were rejected in cases when this compromised the result. The make-ability of these dishes was tediously worked out, simplifying a process classically done by a retinue of expert cooks in a wealthy household. Humbad and Boger simplified the process of the recipe creation down to easy to follow directions that can usually be accomplished in minutes by any competent cook who can follow clear directions. The recipes span all kinds of dishes, and the clever cook will find it easy to add just one "Indian dish" to an otherwise ordinary lunch or dinner menu; you don't necessarily have to gear up to make an entire Indian meal. The presentation of the menus themselves is done in a unique fashion, listing both the ingredients by category, so the cook can assemble the dish easily, and then listing step-by-step instructions with all the ingredients repeated now in order of use. The illustrations are evocative and the whole book is the kind of thing you'd be happy to toss into any gift package. How do I know so much about this book? I am Dr. Boger's husband, and, as I said, I have eaten every dish in this book, both in their final, fool-proof form, and in the many preceding versions before they were perfected!

Excellent book
This has been a joy to go through. I am a novice at this. Its hard finding a good first book to start with. This is it. It has great pictures for you to match your plants to and enough detail on how to take care of them without loosing you in a bunch of detail. I would recommend this book to anyone starting out.

Very Reliable Help
As a novice houseplant keeper, I rely heavily on the books I read for information I need to keep my plants healthy. This book helped me identify ALL the plants I own, which was no small feat in that most were given to me by others who didn't know the variety. It has easy to read information on caring for plants, and I am able to understand the language used. Some other encyclopedia type books make it difficult to get the info needed, and are geared toward professional horticulturists, rather than laymen like myself. I found this book to be very useful, and would highly recommend it to others who have "hobby" plants. The pictures are great, too! They provide a good explanation for the written description of problems common to houseplants, and are a great guide to diagnosing ailments.

Great gift and/or reference book.
The photography and text of this beautiful book are well-done and easy to follow. The authors cover most aspects of plant care, from basic watering and lighting to reproduction and pest control to extensive entries on houseplant varieties. Every plant entry seems unique, breaking from the dull template of information that the more encyclopedia-like plant books have. This engaging style is a strength of the book, but it is also a weakness because the style lends itself to inconsistency. For example, the entry on Saintpaulias (African Violets) specifies the height at which artificial lights should be placed above the plants, but many of the other entries do not give such information. Another complaint is that the secondary plant list in the back does not feature a photograph of every plant. For the price I paid, I would have willingly give up a few of the extra photos in the front if it would result in a more comprehensive photo collection in the back. Identifying p! lants without pictures is very difficult. Nonetheless, no plant book is perfect, and this one comes very close. It combines two types of books -- the coffee-table book and the reference text. All too often plant books do one at the expense of the other.

A good taste of life
Japanese architecrure was firstly influenced American master architect----Frank Lloyd Wright, which you could occasionally find such trails of a natural simplicity acted super perfect in his mid-life works.Wright had using many of Japanese architectural tecniques within his residential projects:for example, the garden sitting, that he agreed traditional Japanese architectural philosophy-----the private garden may bestly mirrored owner's taste of life.Consquently,Wright was a picky architect that especially paying more attention on the rendering of a small enviroment.I am appreciated the choises of materials for Japanese architecture,no more greed, just got sufficient things they need, even for the palaces, still builded without any wasting,it must be hard to looking for another country to comparing with. The structures of Japanese architecture were mainly copied from China. In the same way,it added some new thing different with Chinese architecture.Like wells,beams,doors.lanterns...etc.,Japanese improved those details, and involved in their cultures. The architecture surely centered Eastern intelligence ,moreover, the love of the life.....

Excelent Book
The book is Excellent. It is filled full of high color textures. This is one wonderful reference book for anyone interested in Japanese Architecture. The book is the closest thing to actually being in Japan and looking at the architecture on these buildings.

Simply Beautiful
If you are an architectural students or professionals, you must get this book for your visual reference. Beautiful photographs of details and traditions of Japanese architecture... you will know why it's so influential to world and modern architecture.

Outstanding!!!
When I ordered this book I had no Idea of what I was in for. You have to read it to understand what I mean. If you are a woodworker of any type or have an interest in Japanese Culture. You will love this book. I have never met Toshio Odate yet I have great respect for what he has done here.

Omnibus of Traditional Japanese Woodworking Tools
I have never seen some of the variations of tools detailed in this VERY thorough catalog of tools. I have a couple of books on the subject, and this is the most detaied by far.

Illustrated with well-executed line drawings and photographs, Anyone without personal experience will be able to "pick up" the methods of traditional (non-power tool) woodworking from Japan. Those with experience will see the insight of some of the tool's design for their applications.

Odate explains how to use the tools as well- Not a "How To" book, but enough to begin to practice their use.

What I wnjoyed most was Odate's personal anecdotes of his apprenticeship- a lifestyle lost in the U.S. This is where "...their Spirit..." comes in.

Inspiring!

This book covers everything about Japanese tools.
This book starts with the workshop description and layout. Toshio Odate uses his own unique experiences as a craftsman to show how to use and care for the tools. There are chapters on saws, chisels, marking tools, and handplanes. Japanese tools are much different than western style tools in their appearance, use, and care. All of these are covered in this excellent book.

JIMMY IS THE BEST!
This is another awesome album by the king Parrothead himself.

Growing Older and Laying Down
Buffet has grown longer toes, but has not "layed down" over the years. This album took me to the Keys of Florida, back home to Alabama and back down to the islands a time or two. If anyone has ever been to the lower latitudes of the United States (Florida in particular), this compilation will take you up AND down A1A as many times as you can handle it!

Thanks for this one, JB!

THE joinery book for EVERY woodworker
This book is simply amazing. It shows you any joint you could ever want to build and how to do it and it does it with full color photos and drawings. There is not a single page of fluff. Every page gets right to the point and tells you what you need to know. It is also extremely well organized, not only by being intelligently divided into sections, but also with color coding so you can find what you want with ease. In addition, there is a joint index in the back of the book that shows small pictures of every joint in the book so you can flip through it and find what you're looking for if you only know what it looks like, not what it is called. That alone is worth the money but, fortunately for us, the publisher went the extra mile and made this book with a spiral binding so it stays open, and printed it with a really thick and glossy cover so it resists wear when in use around the shop, and the interior pages are all printed on thick paper stock. It's also compact (but not too small) so it isn't bulky or in your way when tyring to use it as a reference while working. This is a true book for use around the shop and it has gone beyond what I ever expected to find in a joinery book. I can not recommend it highly enough.

Awesome
So many books show the woodworker bent over the project instead of the actual pieces of the project coming together. This book shows detailed, helpful pictures of each step of the many different joints. The spiral-bound format makes it ideal for the shop -- you can lay the book down and have your hands free for working. This is by far the best guide I've seen for joinery.

very informative
I am just beginning this wonderful woodworking hobby and this book is exactly what I was looking for. I had no idea there were so many ways to join wood together. I'm sure this book would be invaluable to experienced woodworkers and novices alike. This book lays out the information is a way that is easy to understand with lots of drawings and pictures to help see how the joint looks before, during and after assembly. I would definetly recommend this to anyone who is just beginning or has been doing it for many years.

MONTOYA: MASTER OF CLASSIC ELEGANCE
This masterful book is one of the very best design books out today. the fabulous photos give richly detailed images of how the mind of Montoya turns dreams into reality. Colorfully planned rooms evoke reverence for things past and present. Montoya's use of religious references inform us of his link with humanity. Indirect lighting mixed with many different kinds of stone, granite, marbles and limestone create theatrical yet uplifing interiors that make beckon us to linger. Always sensitive to his clients' desires and wishes, he incorporates scale, harmony and balance while implementing function with style. Montoya is a master of surprise, you'll go back to this collection of his work time and again.

Design excellence captured in print.
This 400 page pictorial of Juan Montoya's work, past and present, is an engaging look at the designer's commitment to creating living spaces with flair, refinement, and cultural aesthetic.

Juan Montoya reveals the inspirations for his designs - both furniture and interior design - coming from a broad range of technology; to foreign cultural artifacts that are used to enrich and enhance spaces.

The spaces he creates are magnificent - a miriad of textures and colors that blend harmoniously into a defined living space - which the self titled book reveals quite well. Large color images enable you to study subtle details of the various rooms. This book also gives you a certain time line of his experience and influences during recent decades. Much of the text is reprinted from Architectural Digest, among other periodicals and books. Not to miss is the spread that displays the custom furniture designs that have been created, and used in various client's residences and office spaces.

This is a great addition to anyone's design collection. Definately a keeper, as well as a great design resource.

A wonderful book!!!!!!!!
I read this book in two days(and that's with having to care for a baby too.)I'm sure if I'd been alone I could have finished this book within a few hours. But you all know how it is with a baby;barely get anytime for yourself.Anyway,"Julia's Hope" is the perfect book for those of us who are tired of reading books that have just sex, foul language, and more immoral acts. This was a book set during the depression when life was hard on everyone, but it was more of a simpler time than in today's world. This book had such an impact on me...to remember the blessings that we do have and to turn the other cheek when someone does us wrong. This book also strengthened my faith that God will provide for our needs.I can not stress it enough that everyone should give this book a try. Most people, I think, will love it!

Julia's Hope
What a wonderful book by a new author. I picked this book up at the library on a whim and loved it. The book tells the story of a woman who despite everything that happens to her and her family continues to have faith and hope that all will work out for the best. This is a subtly Christian novel. The author does not talk about religion directly and yet it is definetly a story of a Christian woman. We all can use this reminder of what faith, hope, and grace are all about. I recommend this book highly and look forward to Leisha's next book.

A delightful story of Hope!!
I enjoyed this book very much!! It has a clean fresh approach!! The only four letter words were hope, love, and pray. It tells a story of a much simpler life where hard times were approached with trust in God and neighbor helping neighbor. The characters were based on the hard working, church going type of people our Christian ancestors were who settled in this great country of ours and made it as great as it is today. I only wish we could go back to a time when we lived life with the same outlook that the characters in this beautiful book portrayed. It showed the true teachings of Christ thru their lifestyles of loving God and your neighbor. Thank you Lisha Kelly for this reminder of what we were placed on this earth for.

Not for the faint of heart
Upfront here: If you're the sort who likes to have your space organized, if you dislike the shabby, the thrift store look, the impression of disrepair, do not bother with this book. Purcell leans heavily on the idea that interior fantasy is built up of layers of eccentric, aged, lived-in objects and artifacts, and the result, while remarkable, is not going to be to everyone's taste.

Purcell's aesthetic is dark, and even a bit threatening. It's eccentric rather than whimsical, and that's not a bad thing. It's just that it can be a bit overwhelming. (If you're looking for a modified version of this, one with a lighter feel, check out Tracy Porter.) It makes heavy use of thrift store finds, but in these days of shabby chic, this look isn't as thrifty as it used to be. One room features a grouping of very large composition dolls. Granted, they're damaged and rather ratty-looking, but all the same, scoring a single large compo doll can be pricey. Half a dozen is likely to set you back quite a bit of money. And that's more or less true of many of the design ideas here. Very nice things (or at least things so odd that you're going to have to go to some lengths to find a good analog) artfully arranged so that they look kind of neglected. Cha-ching! That's gonna cost you.

Over all, I'd have to say that Interior Alchemy, is a great book for those who are not timid about their decorating, who have either some serious spare change or spare time, and who are already more or less on this path of crowded, eccentric spaces. The fantasy level here is enormous, and if it's worth it to you to do the work, then this is a grand resource. To most people, I'd say, start with something a little less ambitious.

Eccentric and Electric
This book caught my eye and I could not put it down. Well written, full of great photos and inspiration. This is not your avarage book on interiors, so conventional cookie cutter types should stay away. If you want to personalize your space this is a great place for inspiration and tips for making the place "work". Having seen her windows and adds in magazines for ABC Carpets in NY, I really appreciate Rebecca sharing her ideas and those of the other artist in this short but compelling book.
I actually see the world with new eyes. Thanks Rebecca!

Interior Alchemy
If you buy every new interior decorating book on the market, and you open each book with the believer's prayer, which goes something like, let there be one idea worth stealing in this book, then you're in for a faith renewing experiece.

Purcell has managed to come up with new ideas, as well as some new terms, guerilla architecture, Do-It-Yourself Art, and Attention-getting Mechanisms, all of which gave this jaded professional an almost religious experience.

Perhaps because of her background in retail display, Purcell takes an irreverent approach to putting together a room. The photographs and text make you slap yourself on the head and ask, why didn't I think of that?

Decorating books tend to fall into two categories, either how to's or beautiful pictures. Interior Alchemy combines these two styles, providing excellent, revealing pictures and text that tells you how to produce the same results, either by aging, no talent carpentery or as the title suggests by magic.
