must read for home owners or psychic healers
I am an ordained minister, shaman and experienced paranormal investigator. I have been doing a lot of heavy research into dowsing and geopathic issues in relation to paranormal phenomenon and can honestly say this book is the best thing I've read on geopathic issues ever. It's written in a very friendly, down to earth and concise manner. Roy and Ann share real-life lessons and experiences throughout the book with plenty of illustrations from their own work. Don't expect to learn the basics of dowsing or learn all the ins and outs of working with geopathic stress zones but do expect to get an outstanding overall perspective on dowsing for and correcting geopathic stress. There's even a chapter on discarnate entities (ghosts) and other spirits. I simply can't endorse this book enough. I'm making it required reading for my group!

Healing sick houses
Excellent book,I have very good results in my home, in accordance with this information.

HEALING FOR HEALTHY HOMES BY ROY PROCTER, ANN PROCTER
This is an excellent book. You really learn through the several cases that Roy and Ann explain in this book,I practice in my house with good results.

Great book, very useful
I learned a lot from this book. It's easy to read and has many good examples plus answers in the back of the book which really help. I recommend this book to any student who wants a good understanding of heat transfer.

Great Resource!
Tons of Great Examples in every chapter. Very useful for any type of heat transfer. Makes it very clear. This is a definately needed resource for any Engineer!

A great book...relates the theory to real problems!
I really enjoyed this book, and I feel that I have a pretty good understanding of the subject. The book teaches you enough theory to understand the concepts, but doesn't get bogged down in a lot of mathematics. It's easy to read, full of good example problems, and has answers at the back of the book for every other problem at the end of the chapters so you can check your homework solutions. There are worked application example problems at the end of every chapter, and application problems in the homework sets too. The appendix has all the thermal propeties you need to work the homework problems, and there are even curve fit equations of liquids and gases that you can use in computer programs for convection problems. There were a few errors in the book, but they weren't serious. I think that a person could even learn heat transfer on his own without a professor if he had this book, but it always helps to have someone there to explain it when you have questions. I highly recommend this book!

Quick education about home-buying
I looked over a stack of books about how to buy a home, and chose this one because it was the shortest! Since I made up my mind to buy a home, I wanted to do it now, and I wanted to equip myself with knowledge fast! Everything is here in a concise step-by-step format for the process of planning expenses, finding and evaluating a home, dealing with the seller and the real estate agent or broker (never knew there was a difference in them before), making an offer and a contract, getting a loan, going to escrow and closing. Many terms I only had a vague understanding of before are much clearer (and in case I forget, there's a glossary of terms in the back of the book), and I have a good idea of how to proceed and what I'll be encountering. Having this knowledge makes me feel as I step into this venture that I will be in control of what I'm doing, and not be at the mercy of sellers or agents.

The author really knows her subject, and I'm grateful for this book.

The perfect home-buying book for dummies!
My husband and I knew nothing about the process of searching for and buying a house until my boss gave me a copy of this book (it was an earlier edition, published in 1989, but it was still immensely helpful.) It has everything a first-time home buyer needs to know from the nitty gritty of financing down to the nerves you'll expereience when you close the deal. I've already recommended this book to other friends who are in the market for a house. And I'm sure we'll reference the book again when it comes time to sell and buy another house.

Excellent guide for every aspect of home buying.
This book is chock full of tips, checklists, and charts to help you through every aspect of the homebuying process. Learn to spot bargains, work with agents, negotiate a final price, and finance your dream house ... condo, co-op, or mobile home This one's a classic.

The Home Organizer
My usual way of organizing is to throw everything in a file and when the file is too full, move all the papers to a basket. The basket was nearly full when I was given the Home Notebook as a gift. What a perfect way to organize: mortgage & insurance info, contractors, painters and roofers, landscaping, and all the specifications of my 1870's house and it's renovation. Everything I need is now easy to find and all in one place!

Easy Tracker
"The Home Organizer" shows that extensive research was done to facilitate home organization for the user, both for first-time owners, as well as for the experienced. There is great attention to detail about basic house information, special features, appliances, measurements, etc, which we tend to ignore, or forget, until we need it. This is very helpful, especially when we are overwhelmed by a newly purchased home, or when remodeling an old one. Ms. Schmertz makes it easy for us. She acts as an experienced "Giminny Cricket," our organized conscience that will guide you in the process of coping and maintaining our home in good order. I also found the "storage pockets" very practical for keeping related information and decorating tips. Suffice to say that I have given several copies of "The Home Organizer" to family and friends, and I use mine on a regular basis.

Organized, at last!
Finally! When the air conditioner breaks down and I can't remember what company the service contract is with, when I can't remember the name or phone number of the plumber I liked, or when I can't remember the formula for the shade of paint I used in the bedroom, Home Organizer comes to the rescue! Colorful, thorough, and even with pockets to store wallpaper samples or computer disks, this is the best gift ever for a new -- or not so new but stressed out homeowner! Real estate agents take note: give these to your clients at closing time and prepare to be showered with gratitude and repeat business!

Top 10 Guides to Buying and Selling online
Ms. Evans has written one of the most up to date books on real estate with such great clarity and style. The book provides an insider's look into how the real estate industry works not yesterday BUT TODAY. It shows you how to use the Internet to your advantage. If your not using the Internet in the home buying process and have not bought this book you have missed the boat!...

The best way to sell or buy a home in 2000 and beyond
Blanche has taken the worry and confusion out of using the Internet to buy and sell a home with her down to earth and common sense approach. Home owners and prospective buyers alike will find a selective amount of resources, websites, and information Blanche has reviewed to make this book a must have for any homeowner or Real Estate Agent. This book is going to help shape the Real Estate Market into a new level of knowledge and understanding.

TWO "CLICKS" WAY WAY UP! :-)
Ms. Evans has scored big with this phenomenal book. As a Realtor who does the majority of my business off the Internet, I am going to enthusiastically recommend this guide to all of my Internet clients. There is great information contained on every page... info that every person potentially looking to relocate should gather and digest. Somewhat selfishly, I must say that Ms. Evans does do a good job crediting Realtors, unlike most books which portray ALL agents as salespeople "just out for the sale". She emphasizes that people SHOULD select a Real Estate Consultant to assist in the home search and relocation process.

Kudos to Ms. Evans for writing a book that consumers AND their Realtors can read and appreciate!

Aesthetically pleasing and eminently practical
Ideal for anyone seeking interior design inspirations for evoking a country atmosphere, The House & Garden Book Of Country Rooms is a simply gorgeous showcase filled with full-color photographs compiled by Leonie Highton (Editor-in-Chief of the British "House & Garden" magazine) of aesthetically pleasing and eminently practical country-style room designs. Descriptive captions highlighting balance and arrangement compliment the stunning and inspirational illustrations in this very highly recommended interior design reference.

Mouth-watering!
This book is chock full of wonderful photos of absolutely gorgeous rooms located in England (mostly), France, Majorca, St.Lucia, and Greece. Graceful, nonpretentious elegance at its finest! If you love aged patinas, threadbare Oriental rugs, mellowed heirloom antiques, vintage linens, and a dash of eclecticism, this is THE book for you!

A Gorgeous Book!
Like the other books in this House and Garden series, this is a wonderful reference for anyone interested in traditional, classic, elegant design. In my opinion, it should be in every interior designer's library! The interiors pictured are varied in their themes and beautifully composed. These are not cutsey, overdone rooms. They are timeless in their decor - informal and comfortable, but with style. I get new ideas each time I go to this book! The chapters are arranged by room type so that if I want to see kitchen design I can go right to that chapter rather than search through the entire book. Although, once opened, I rarely shut this book after looking at only one or two pages!

A sensational read!
I was hooked from page one! The House on Briar Lake is a heartwarming romance you won't be able to put down. I've added it to my keeper shelf, and Roxanne Rustand can add me to her list of fans!

Fantastic read!
Roxanne Rustand has another winner in The House at Briar Lake. Lauren McClellan is a woman with a past she doesn't deserve and the mother of a very troubled little girl. House sitting and caring for an eccentric friend's menagerie of animals, the last thing Lauren needs to deal with is jaded big city lawyer, Michael Wells--a man who wants to know what Lauren is so desperately trying to hide. But when a fire forces them to reside in the same house for an entire summer, more than just the temperature outside heats up. Ms. Rustand has done a beautiful job of creating complex characters and a richly draw plot that will make you laugh and cry. I can't wait for more from this very talented author.

Roxanne Rustand has written another winner!
You'll love this heartwarming tale about a disillusioned lawyer who falls for a quirky house-sitter with a troubled daughter and a dark past. The author paints a compelling picture of two lonely souls thrown together by circumstance who overcome seemingly insurmountable problems to forge strong family bonds and a love to last a lifetime. Love the humor provided by the disruptive menagerie that serves as 'chaperone'. A very moving and uplifting book. Don't miss this one!

The House at Pooh Corner & Now We Are Six with Book

The House at Pooh Corner & Now We Are Six With Book
This is a wonderful recording of the Pooh tales...Mr. Dennis makes the tales come alive. These are familiar friends and the rendering of this collection is excellent. Mr. Dennis provides all the voices and the stories are read as Mr. Milne wrote them...as stories, for children, to be read aloud.

WORDS CAN DANCE BEFORE YOUR VERY EYES
Peter Dennis does not so much perform the writings of A. A. Milne, as he is possessed by each and every inhabitant of the Hundred Acre Woods. Like a spiritual medium, Mr. Dennis seems to directly channel Pooh and Piglet, Owl and Eeyore, Tigger and Christopher Robin. To hear him conduct his magic on tape, one presupposes that he must have recorded each voice in successive takes, but to see him perform, is to watch a man's entire demeanor change as quickly as the sunshine can burst out from behind a cloud, and to realize, contentedly, that beautifully written words can be lifted straight off the page and can dance before your very eyes, in the hands of a gifted performer.

The real Winnie-the-Pooh has finally stood up.
CLASSIC POOH

The real Winnie-the-Pooh has finally stood up. Kids inundated with movies and merchandise featuring Disney's version of the Bear of Little Brain deserve to be introduced to the real thing: English actor Peter Dennis' telling of A. A. Milne's tales.

Dennis, who lives in Southern California, is the only person granted permission by the Pooh Trustees to perform Milne's stories and poems in the theater, and his one-man show Bother! has won many awards. He's now released a Classic Audio CD Collection of his unabridged, award-winning recordings of Winnie-the-Pooh, The House at Pooh Corner, Now We Are Six and When We Were Very Young. A book you will read to the end. I enjoyed it immensely.
This book is so much better than I had imagined it might be. It's great, it's literature, not just another book. I enjoyed it immensely.

A haunting and vivid tale
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. All of the principal characters are brought to life in a deeply compelling way. It's unfortunate that so few readers appear to be aware of this extraordinary work. It is as evocative as the best stories of Nevil Shute and H. E. Bates. Superb.

Superb family drama from a unique perspective

In the 1940's, the war in the Pacific hit home for the many British citizens living overseas. In 1942, the Japanese military invasion of Malaya leads to the capture of many foreign expatriates, including the British. The Cartwights managed to send their two small children, the infant Victor and his seven-year-old sister Isabel, safely back to England. However, the older Cartwrights disappear without a trace.

For the next three decades, the events in Asia still haunt Isabel. When Victor has to go to Malaya on business, he invites his sibling to accompany him. Without consulting her spouse Adrian, Isabel eagerly accepts. When they arrive, Isabel's obsession takes full root and she begins to investigate what happened to her parents. Reluctantly at first, his sister's enthusiasm and spirit snag Victor, who soon joins her quest. As the truth begins to surface, both of them realize that they must finf out what happened even though they might not like what they ultimately learn.

HOUSE AT THE EDGE OF THE JUNGLE is an incredible family tale that provides a unique perspective on life. The story line is brilliant as the Cartwright children return to their birth place in a worthy quest to find closure. Mary Morgan is a magician as she succeeds on several levels, making this must reading for those who enjoy reading about the impact of war on the younger generation.

HOUSE AT WAR by Allan Dorfman

Historical Fiction

Xlibris Corp., Philadelphia 492 Pages, Softcover. ISBN No. 0-7388-2201-9

Book Review by Simon (Ski) Hasinsky, SGT., USMC (Ret.)

A House at War is an exciting and absorbing read. It's a thriller with a unique plot and sub-plots that depict the exploits of Commander Mark Kurtan, an intrepid naval officer, and four generations of his family. some of the characters in the story include President Roosevelt , Adolph Hitler, Winston Churchill; Admirals Nimitz, Yamamoto, and Pound, as well as other important and world famous political and military leaders of the time. Set in 1940, before America's entry into World War 2, the historical background and dialogue carry the stance of authenticity. The story is a fictional account of the first U.S. warship equipped with radar and Hitler's attempt to capture it. Its first mission is to escort the battleship transporting the gold reserves of Britain and other Allied Nations to the United States. Sub-plots are interwoven throughout the adventure like strategically placed fuses. Who is the German spy aboard the ship? Will the secret battles plunge America and Germany into war? Will Roosevelt be impeached because he has diverted secret funds for the development of the vessel without the consent of congress? Will the protagonist risk his ship and the lives of his crew in order to save his wife and son who are being held hostage by the Germans? The detail is rich and fascinating, giving the reader a convincing feel of the times, the intrigue of the secret operations, and the exciting sea battles. This book is a must for those who enjoy sea sagas, thrillers, and whodunnits...

Hitler Tries to Capture US Ship Before US Enters WWII
Prior to America's entry into World War II, Mark Kurtan, an intrepid U.S. naval commander, on a top secret mission, must fight covert sea battles against parachuting German commandos, U-boats, and aircraft attempting to capture the first US warship equipped with radar. Assigned to escort the battleship carrying the remaining gold reserves of the defeated Allied Nations, he must also contend with a spy aboard his ship, the capture of his wife and son by the nazis, and the marooning of his grandfather's ship loaded with gold near an exploding volcanic island. And that's not all! American gangsters attempt to pirate the gold. Franklin Roosevelt, Adolph Hitler, Winston Churchill, and other prominent world leaders and important personages of the time (1940) are characters in this most intriguing and exciting saga. Historically acurate events of the period are woven into the story and mesh well with the adventure, and the trials and tribulations of the four generations of the protagonist's family.

Action, spies, and a dashing hero in World War II arena
This is fascinating fiction set in a historical background, its time span covering June-October, 1940. The protagonist is a dashing American naval commander, Mark Kurtan, whose dynastic family ties lend a colorful touch to the story without slowing down the action-packed plot. There's something happening all the time: warships battling with U-boats, exploding volcanoes and nazi spies, gold-laden ships -- even some Mafia pirates thrown in for good measure! Supporting characters, handled in an imaginative yet believable style, include FDR, Churchill, and Hitler. The author has obviously done his research, making the technical material and battles credible and exciting; and the human side isn't neglected either, as Kurtan's relationship with his wife and son is brought into play. All of these facets are deftly handled by Dorfman, and the combination of exciting battle scenes with the hero's personal life add up to a terrific story -- which would, incidentally, make a great movie!
