Fabulous Receipes
This is a must have for anyone who loves to cook "special" meals. The photos are beautiful, and the dishes look the same when you cook them. I've only had the book a couple of weeks, but have made four special meals just for my husband. The receipes are beautiful, but practical. When you have guests, they will be impressed. The Grilled Salmon Salad with Creamy Tarragon Dressing is worth the price of the book. I also found the book easy to adapt. For example, in the Fried Chicken Sandwiches with Cucumber Remoulade Sauce, I left out the cucumber and ketchup because I wanted to see how it would taste without it--it was wonderful. It was also easy to adjust the quantity for two people, which is a rare find. I will be purchasing more of this book as Christmas gifts.

Simply The Best Cookbook There Is
For those who have visited the Biltmore and tasted their magnificent food, these recipes give an accurate representation of the cuisine experienced there. Pay close attention to the Chef's Choice recipes. We have never been disappointed with any recipe yet! When we travel anywhere we know we will be cooking, this book goes with us. The pictures are gorgeous (and accurate) and the recipes easy to follow. We were given this book as a gift and have already purchased two to give as gifts. Buy and enjoy!!

Bounty of Biltmore Cookbook
Bounty of Biltmore Cookbook is fabulous. It is a must for every cook. Not only are the recipes easy to follow, but every recipe I have tried has been a winner. While flipping through the cookbook, one is sure to drool over recipes such as Filet Mignon with Mushroom-Wine Sauce, Marinated Stuffed Shrimp, and Peach Brandy Pound Cake. I have not been disappointed yet. The paper quality and photography are also superb. Enjoy!

Just buy it!!! It's worth it.
Very easy, creative and inspirational.
It's not like other books on the subject which eventually make you consult other books. Even beginner like myself can perform the projects easily. And you know what? The results are quite professional.

Colorful easy-to-create projects
This book is full of bright colorful designs and patterns to spruce up any object in your home. With so many techniques, you can pick and choose between them to create your own unique pieces of art. The designs are easy to create because they use simple shapes, color shapers and stamping tools. However, many are also elaborate, taking several layers of paint, so they can be somewhat time consuming.

The book starts out with instructions on how choose brushes, mediums, papers and other useful tools. It then explains how to prepare and finish surfaces. It also guides you through basic brushstrokes. Twelve projects follow including objects, fabrics and furniture. Each one includes a materials list and step-by-step instructions accompanied by photos and illustrations. Some of my favorite projects include a Bokhara pattern wall art hanging, a cool jazz candleholder and an English rose round table.

My favorite part of the book is the library of over 20 decorative patterns. Again, a materials list and step-by-step instructions guide you thorough each one. A large close-up of the texture is shown along with several small picture swatches of it a various stages. Some textures include the carpet-liner, bubble-wrap, color-wash, and dry brush.

From an enthusiastic student of Ms. DeSimone...need I say mo
Having seen in class what you will see as color photos in this book, and having been witness to the steps and techniques required to produce such interesting and delightful art, I can heartily recommend this book for the thoroughness, simplicity in technical description, sparkling creativity and talent, and wholeheartedness that its artist/author exemplifies in her person as a teacher.

Wait til you see her special brand of batik, her uses of printing, and what her methods of layering will yield. You won't want to leave your paints alone! Happy creating!!!

Refer to this book early and often
This is critical book in the collection any builder/restorer should have close at hand. The knowledge McRaven shares from his vast experience is a standout among the limited sources available to the restorer. While I am using several sources for my restoration project, I have referred to this one most.

outstanding reference about square-hewn appalachian-style
After stumbling upon a tattered copy of the earlier version of this book (now out of print) in the local library, I can only say that I called Mcraven several times LD from Germany in 1993 to check on the publish date of the revised edition. Really an excellent book- essential for the shelf of anyone with an interest in the authentic square-hewn type of cabin.

Excellent Book for Preservationists and log house occupants
McRaven describes in detail the steps necessary to ultimately live in a log house. From acquisition through to suggestions for decoration of the interior, this book clearly outlines what is in store for a log house enthusiast. The author also provides helpful suggestions throughout the book. Preservationists, historic resource surveyors as well as people interested in living in a log house will all gain from the content of the book.

The Only Book You Need
This will be the only reference that you will need to build either a porch or a deck. Far superior to any of the other three deck books I used from a library. A must own!

Courage for the beginning builder.
This book provides complete, concise, clear, step-by-step instructions for deck building. Great photos clarify text and make the project seem exciting. I bought two books on decks and returned the other...this one had everything I needed.

Excellent how-to book for deck building.
Searched through many how-to books before a friend let me borrow this one. It provided all of the specific information I needed to actually build a deck. The others were wastes of money.

The BEST Book ANYONE Can Read Before Building Their Own Home
I got this book because I was planning to build a house which I want to be accessible for future years. This book was really more than I bargained for. I think EVERYONE should read this book before designing their home, even if they think they don't care about needs for future years. One of the best features of this book is that it points out where required accessibilty, or accessibility standards are often completely insufficient--probably because they were developed by able-bodied people. They have now done a lot of research on what gives people trouble, and improvements on the required standards that are far better. This book covers every aspect and room of your home, inside and outside. It is well-written, in plain English, with plenty of pictures and drawings that are EASY to comprehend. This book is expensive, but well-worth every penny.

Answers question of where do I put..., how high should it be
It really helps to lead you in the design and placement of all items and objects, as well as the general layout of you houseplan, rooms and location of house on lot, to make it more convenient and easier for you to get around no matter what your age, height, or physical strength is. It helps you decide the right height for switches, outlets, windows, etc., where they should be in proximity to doorways, beds, work zones, etc. It also gives a good discussion on types of lighting, why and where each is best suited, types of switches, step heights, ramp heights and lengths, the need for less steps, proposing the need to consider letting mechanical aids do the work rather than tired or frail and aging bodies. Helps lead you to the thoughts of doing your exercise in the gym and not be forced to do it in the house. Gives an excellent discussion of what and how for heating, air conditioning, lighting, everthing that goes into a house. It also gives excellent pointers as to what scales to use in creating your house plan drawings to avoid confusion and mistakes by the builder in implementing your plans. Compares accessible building standards to the currently accepted building standards and provides the reason for the departures from the norm. A lot of information is provided on the methods of testing and developing the standards that this text espouses, sort of like in depth and pragmatic time and motion studies. Much of this can be ignored by the reader, but for the doubters out there it does fully explain and support the standards and approaches provided.

Required reading for home building/remodeling
The best single volume I've seen on designing a house that works for you (not against you) throughout your lifetime. Excellent information on decline of strength and ability with age, and some excellent ideas on making a "handicapped accessible home" that looks like a thoughtfully designed home instead of a hospital. Plenty of real-life examples, many of them no more costly to implement than the standard US housing market styles, and solid information on remodeling to fit needs.

Written for the general public, not specialized professions like architect, contractor, etc., it is readable and practical. It is designed to help you think through the possibilities rather than offering cookbook solutions and plans.

It should also be required reading for church building committee members, etc, though not officially addressing churches and other public buildings.

Buildings well-designed to meet the needs of people with various disabilities are also well-designed to meet the needs of people without disabilities. This book will help you do just that.

Butterfly House
This book is about a girl who saves a caterpillar
from a hungry blue jay. The girl keeps the caterpilar until it is a butterfly. My favorite part is when they make the caterpillar's little house. I LOVE the illustrations.I'd recommend this book to people who like butterflies.

A very warm celebration.
I saw a copy of BUTTERFLY HOUSE and bought it right away because I was attracted to the love and warmth that the book radiates through its story and illustrations on one of my favorite subjects, the butterfly. Butterfly lovers can look for MALINDA MARTHA MEETS MARIPOSA too, different in that it features the Monarch rather than the Painted Lady and different again in that it offers the dimension of acting out the life-cycle as a play. Similar is the love for the butterfly that the children will experience in each book. One doesn't seem complete without the other. Together a child will build a life-time of love and knowledge on this subject.

A beautiful story of a girl her grandfather and butterflies.
This was a delightful book written by Eve Bunting highlighting her wonderful style of writing. This book caught my eye at first by the beautiful cover but then I was spell bound by the wonderful illustrations and the delightful story. I was also attracted to this book because of the butterflies. I am a teacher and my first grade class just raised painted lady butterflies, just like in the book. It was a wonderful book to share with my students, especially on the day we released our own butterflies. The book helped explain that it was okay to cry but to be happy at their new found freedom. I would recommend this book to anyone at any age.

Buying A Home

CRITICAL information, no matter who you are!
This book is packed with information that will help you if you've never bought a home, or have done so a dozen or more times. Everyone, and I mean EVERYONE, should read Chapter 3 on selecting an Agent... If you are buying, selling, thinking of a career in Real Estate, or are already an Agent!

Mastering Home Buying Approaches for Newbies
For many people like me, the home buying process is alien, confusing, and full of pitfalls. What I needed was a guide to help me quickly and effectively understand the entire process, along with the plethora of associated considerations.

David Rathgeber's home buying book gave me almost everything I needed to quickly make sense of the home buying process. He introduced me to all the major issues and considerations that I was about to face. Not only did he clearly address the most pertinent issues, but he also concisely provided abundant advice on each aspect of home buying, to include difficult issues such as understanding the emotional and psychological aspects that both the buyer and seller face. In this book, David even helps the reader understand how to get the appropriate professional help at the right time. This is done in a constructive manner that demonstrates to the reader that he is only one part of a team that is focused on making the home buying process successful.

Along with David's personal help in purchasing a home, this book provides almost everything that a home buyer needs, especially if the buyer is completely new to the home buying process. It is actually quite comforting to read this book in that David teaches the home buyer how to develop a healthy respect for all the participants no matter what their role may be. Toward this end, David articulates the human aspect of a stressful process that often can appear to be impersonal.

A man who knows his real estate!
We have read both of Dave's books and he is certainly knowledgable in real estate. Dave also has helped us in the buying process, and all has run smoothly. We consider Dave a professional in all aspects of real estate. The book is filled with data that we did not truly know about concerning the market.

Caballo De Troya 5/Thosan House Book 5

Vale a pena lê-lo!
Já li os outros 4 vols. e continuo maravilhada pelo seu conteúdo! É deveras difícil por em causa o que está descrito, dado o detalhe e realismo dos acontecimentos.A sua leitura transformou-me.Sinto-me mais ligada a Cristo.

Carpentry

Outstanding
This is the book to own if you do any type of carpentry. Carpentry is one of the best manuals I've seen. Reminds me of my college text books.

Comprehensive
This book is great. It has definitions of the buzzwords of construction, discussion of all aspects of construction, and hundreds of drawings detailing what you need to know.

Carpentry
Carpentry is the most comprehensive book on the subject out there. I bought my copy in 1986 when I was building my house and found every answer to every job I was doing. When the building inspector came for the rough inspection, his coment was " if the contractors in town did this good of a job, my job would be easy". Today I am searching for this book for my brother inlaw who like myself, before I bought the book, has no clue of how to build it right.

A Great Read.
I picked this book up and could not set it down until I had finished it! It is suspenseful and well written, not to mention thought provoking. A definite recommendation!

Riveting Tale of Suspense and Substance!
Great quick read! For such a suspenseful book, Carrington House makes some very poignant societal observations. I found the story to be just as thought provoking as it was engrossing - instead of letting you down quickly after the climax, the book actually leaves you pondering humanity...

true depiction of hazing
This book kept my interest from the beginning. It's scary to think that something like this could happen, but the way it is presented, it is very believable. Very good book.
