Hold the Line Please! =: Methode Bilingue de L'Anglais Au Telephone
Published in Hardcover by Prentice Hall International/Accent Internatio (January, 1991)
Author: David Alexander

Very helpful!
This book is a great find for anyone whose native language is not English (or French) but who would want to improve the ability to use a telephone. The book has dialogs in English and French arranged on pages next to each other.
It's actually written for the French, I believe (it has a foreward in French). But it doesn't really matter. Dialogs are identical in both language. They may help you to make an approintment with a doctor, to reserve a hotel room, a car or a table at a restaurant... Basically, this book has lots of useful phrases for those who want to communicate on the phone without mistakes.
It helps with words needed to leave a message on someone's answering machine, to deal with secretaries at all kinds of offices (or to play a secretary yourself), and to make all kinds of inquiries. It's actually useful for any small talk, business or personal. You would be even able to express yourself to your lover!
I used this book many times when I was not comfortable with my English yet.

A fun answer book to some practical questions
Of a lighter tone is The Diagram Group's How To Hold A Crocodile, which provides a fun answer book to some practical questions on handling wildlife; from handling a hamster or crocodile to measuring a horse. In all fairness, wildlife isn't all that's covered here - this all-encompassing 'how to Bible' includes tips on playing bagpipes, measuring humidity, surrendering, and more.

196 Pages of Chock Full of FUN and INTERESTING Facts
This book is packed with really fun and interesting things to know. Want to know how you break a thread in a sealed bottle? Use the glass as a magnifying glass to burn through it. How do you photograph a fish in a fish tank and keep it from swimming away? Put a sheet of glass behind the fish and trap it near the front of the tank. How do you put a whole pear in a bottle? Tie an empty bottle to a branch and let the pear grow inside the bottle.

How do you play fox and geese, hex, tlachtli, ringo, pachisi, nyout, conkers, and so on? What do the signal flags on a ship mean? How do you tame a tarantula? How do you fire a cannon? How do you figure out when Easter is? There are lots and lots more including some things that most folks think they know such as how to mount a horse, and there are some things I would not recommend such as putting poppy seeds in your shoes so that you can walk unnoticed among people to whom you owe money.

So how do you hold a crocodile? You grab it behind the head with one hand and underneath its legs with your other hand. The catch is that crocodiles grow very rapidly and soon it will become too big to hold. Then you may want to have read page 9 so you know how to RUN from a crocodile.

Winning-Over Your Audience
This is one of my favorite books on professional speaking-and I've read a bunch of them.

Art Fettig describes The First Two Minutes, Icebreakers, Using Humor and Showing the Audience You Care. The most valuable advice is his list of seven things to cover in your first two minute on the platform. Use them and your audience will love you for the rest of the speech.

Art Fettig is a veteran of thousands of professional presentations on industrial safety. In these pages, he generously shares what he has learned.

As the author of 113 books (including revisions and foreign-language editions) and over 500 magazine articles, I recommend this volume to anyone who has to promote him or herself, their book or speak to groups. DanPoynter@ParaPublishing.com.

How to Hold It All Together When You'Ve Lost Your Job (Vgm Career Books)

Financial Sanity When Everything Else Goes Crazy
Townsend Albright has written a wonderful book about holding it all together financially when the unthinkable happens. I loved his ideas about negotiating with mortgage lenders, and for that matter, negotiating with everybody, as an alternative to bankruptcy or other less desirable options. Albright's book helps you keep the wolves at bay while trying to figure out your next step. When all else is bedlam, this must-read provides a sane approach for making it through the night. As an attorney who has helped financially-troubled individuals and others hitting the financial skids, I thought this book was an excellent, non-legal way to survive it all.

How to Win and Hold a Husband (Women in Amer Series)

This book must be read by every finance prior to marriage.
This book is written by a woman posing as a man for a newspaper. Her column was an advise to the lovelorn. The book teaches you about relationships. I had one edition and had left it open at work. Well the chuckles that came from that table and the remarks were precious. She chronicled all types of relationships. This book was originally published in 1938. Times were not so different. Don't the notorious marriage of the King of England to the divorced woman of his dreams. Dorothy Dix is a pseudonym. She mainly taught you to be not be so close to your husband. Keep him at a distance and let him come to you and don't volunteer anything. By keeping him guessing the sparks in the relationship will never die. Now the problem is getting a copy of the book.

I'll Hold You in Heaven

This book belongs in every church library!
What happened to my baby after he/she died? Will I ever see my baby again-and will I recognize him? What happens if I've had an abortion? Does God have a reason for letting my child die? How can I help a friend who's in grief?

These are some of the questions addressed in this thought provoking book. Pastor Jack Hayford approaches the subject in a manner which makes the reader feel he truly empathizes with the situation.

As Pastor Hayford says in his book, "This isn't myth, fable, legend, or a selection of poetic thoughts for the sorrowful. This is truth to set us free. Here we are specifically freed to expect to meet children in heaven, to recognize them and to be with them."

I've had three miscarriages, and wish I'LL HOLD YOU IN HEAVEN had been available for me to read when I was recovering. Not everyone understands what the mother is going through as some offer inane remarks that are not always comforting. In I'LL HOLD YOU IN HEAVEN, Pastor Hayford offers encouragement not only to the mom who miscarried, but also to the parent who lost a baby days or weeks after birth, and to the woman who aborted her baby and later regrets her decision.

If you know someone who recently lost a baby or if you're going through that sorrow yourself, I'LL HOLD YOU IN HEAVEN is a great book to read. It's a book which should be in every church library so it can minister to those hurting. A Remembrance book is also available. I recommend I'LL HOLD YOU IN HEAVEN.

Well Done!
A "must read" book for all "singles" out there! I first read this book when it came out in the 80's and liked it very much at that time. I re-read it again recently and found that I had been following many of the suggestions which Ms.Harayda makes for single people and have had many positive results. If you are single-read this book!

What an incredible story.
Although this book can be emotionally difficult to read at times, it's the type of book you find equally hard to put down. I have done AIDS volunteer work for the past 8+ years, and rarely see the type of devotion depicted here. Jimmie was so lucky to be surrounded by this love & comfort during his final days, but I have no doubt that he gave an equal amount (if not more) in return. I learned alot from reading "Just Hold Me While I Cry", and truly believe that it's made me a better person. Thank you Bobbie for sharing this most personal time of your life with me. Jimmie was as lucky to have all of you as his family as you were to have him as your son, brother and friend.
