I do not measure up in a patriarchy, and I am dispensable in a matriarchy, so I am pleased when either of them is put in its place, as Sidra Stone does magisterially in this book about the 'inner patriarchy.'

Sidra Stone is the co-founder with her husband, Hal, of Voice Dialogue, a beautiful formula for experiencing and researching archetypal energies within our selves and between each other in bonding patterns. It is full of variations, like music-making. About the 'inner patriarch' she says that he is taught to women unconsciously by their mothers and remains disowned in their unconscious to devastate their lives, unless he is brought out of the shadows into awareness.

Sidra Stone has brought out and owned the patriarch in this book, having worked with him both alone and with other women whom she respects and admires. She gives advice that has been successful both for her and for them on how to deal with him. The antidote to the inner paatrach's idealising and denigratory power is to adopt his own strong qualities, so that he no longer feels he has to control and protect daughters, wives and mothers and demean women and their partners. Her advice is to own and cherish complementary and other non-patriarchal energies, both tame and wild. Her subtle and judicious mind clarifies the contradictions in the patriarch's prejudiced and dualistic thinking. She certainly gets to know and even befriends, if not sleeps with, her enemy.

Sidra Stone has the psychologist's penchant for lists and vignettes but not, thankfully, for quotes from her extensive book list. She recommends two books but does not use extracts from them -- instead, she quotes from dreams and archetypal energies. She is an optimistic writer. Her optimism does not come only from her privileges and gifts,but, I believe, from her celebration of the rich variety of archetypal energies and of how we can resolve conflict by celebrating sameness and difference inside and between us, so that we can become more fully human and equal inside and out. I love this book.

Sidra Stone shows us that the feminist revolution has to be an inside job. It doesn't matter how much we try to change the world outside of us - if we're still carrying the expectations of the patriarchy within our own psyches, it's not too likely that we'll be able to change. Dr. Stone not only shows how the Inner Patriarch functions within women, she gives clear and creative ideas about how we can disengage from this energy and even turn it into an ally. Working with this has been an enormous help to me personally on a daily basis. Since reading this book, I am much more aware of the messages I receive from my own Inner Patriarch and can take action to calm him down and rebalance my life. I think The Shadow King is one of the most significant books for women (and the men who are in relationship with them) written in the last 20 years.

I am grateful for Sidra's clear vision into the underpinnings of such a significant and previously unrecognized force of cultural conditioning.

This book is outstanding! Ward Kendall has given us a true masterpiece. This book shows the world's future when political correctness is taken to silly and deadly extremes.

Hold Back This Day is suprisingly well written science fiction -- the characters actually act how real people in such a situation would act. This is unlike the typical science fiction story where the characters are often flat and/or unbelievable. Ward Kendall has a good insight into human nature, and it is a welcome change.

He describes a future world where the politically correct ideas of today have reached their logical conclusion. He pulls no punches as he speaks out against the sacred cows of the liberal left - economic equality, racial equality, and social equality. Rarely do I find a book which makes me think like this one did, and a week later I am still thinking about it. You will definitely look at the world differently after reading this one.

Insanity.

Insanity exists when there is an inability to differentiate between that which is beneficial to survival, and that which is detrimental.

Thus an insane man may jump from a tall building, convinced that he can fly. But believing a thing to be real doesn't make it so. The realities of the physical universe must apply, and so the man plunges to his death.

Decadence.

Decadence is a form of collective insanity. Thus a society or race passing through a cycle of decadence will adopt customs, values, taboos and laws that they believe to be beneficial to their survival. But these values will in reality contain the seeds of their own destruction.

This book deals with societal and racial insanity. It shows us the world that must result if today's values of decadence continue to be applied. This means the 'glory' of an equality-obsessed state, a state that controls the world in the internationalist's dream of one world government. The nature of Man dictates that if such an eventuality comes to pass the results are precisely predictable ' totalitarianism, mass indoctrination and enforced racial extinction. Extinction not just for the white race, but for every race, everywhere. All to gain the 'prize' of a single homogenised mass of humanity. This is the dream of the internationalist integrationists of today, obsessed with their unquestioning beliefs and unable to conceive of the terrifying result of their dreams made real.

When my mother was diagnosed with terminal stages of colon cancer, our family was literally innundated with "grief coping" books. Being an avid reader, and desperate for anything to help make sense of the chaos and pain, I read them all. SAFE PASSAGE is the only one I have kept and have recently ordered several to have on hand to share with friends. This book is composed of short meditations that are appropriate for all stages of griefwork. I continue to refer to my copy, some nine months after her death. I find that this is a "living" book, with certain passages speaking exactly what I'm feeling, every time I read it - be it a week after her death or months after. Moreover, it is not specifically geared towards the loss of a parent, spouse, child, etc - my stepfather has found it as wonderful as I have. This book has been a lifeline to our family.

I do not know Molly Fumia, but I do know the subject of grief. I wrote THE JEWISH WAY IN DEATH AND MOURNING. I have never read so profound and beautiful a work on this subject. I underlined it all, and ordered another clean copy. It is memorable; a work of art, a Divine inspiration.

This was one of the first books on Griveing I had bought. It was a Great "pick". The everyday "passages" hit right how I felt. The words were very comforting and like the author was writing this book for me to try to understand all the feelings and the "loss" I was going though. I Highly recommmend this book for a person who is going through a Loss of a Loved one.

This story is so good that I didn't want it to end. I want Arwen Elys Dayton to write more tales about Shall, the floating city. More intrigue, more danger, and more quest. Another book please! If you like a good story, you will like this book. If you like a great story told from a unique point of view about a strangely familiar time and place, you will love this book!

Sovereign's Hold is a fantastic adventure! Following the lives of this unique cast of characters I found myself on a journey through incredibly cerebral heights and horrifyingly harsh depths as each of their individual quests intertwined. Incredibly rich in texture and imagination this book is a thrilling blend of adventure, action, political intrigue and romance woven together in a story that captivates the spirit as well as the mind.

And hats off to Arwen Dayton for creating strong *and* sexy female characters whose powers of seduction are only surpassed by their skills in combat - think Sigourney Weaver in 'Alien' or Demi Moore in 'G.I. Jane' - yeah! ; )

Sovereign's Hold will capture you. From the very first chapter I found myself intrigued, finding it difficult to put down the book. I was truly carried "out of this world" and into several fascinating worlds that Ms. Dayton had created. The characters are rich and the several threads of their lives are skillfully woven. The author has a mastery of the art of suspense and puts a great deal of action into the narrative. The traditional subject of the conflict between good and evil is put forward with a subtle understanding of the "human" character. There was never a moment when the book's momentum flagged. The book is written simply and directly with all the subtle details of description and action that one finds in a great writer. I can recommend this book to young as well as old readers. I was surprised to learn that this is Ms. Dayton's first novel; I am looking forward to more books from this imaginative mind.

I'll advise all the people who are in an unhealthy relationship to buy this book.This book will open your eyes and break that pattern of obsessive behavior.

This book helped me break the Infatuation Cycles I had developed. It is written in a very concise and non-invasive way so as not to offend and make you feel...well...like a deranged and sick person. My behavior was deranged and sick, but after reading this book I made a determined and solid decision to move on AND not look back. I have not repeated my Obsessive Cycle since.

When I first got this book, I was so addicted to a person that I did not realize I was stalking him and invading his privacy. This book deals out some harsh truth in the beginning. At first I felt no sympathy for my painful ordeal and I couldn't read it. I would recommend reading this book after you have explored why you are the way you are and accepted that are obsessed or addicted to a person. Before reading this book, you might want to try How to Break an Addiction to a Person. That book is a little more sympathetic to how you feel and it helps you to understand why you are acting the way you act. Once you come to terms with yourself and your problems, read Obsessive Love. It gives clear concise directions on how to stop obsessing using behavior conditioning. The psychological techniques in this book really work because they do not focus on appealing to your logical mind but to your illogical emotions and thoughts. This book also provides some insight on how you got this way and it helps you to understand how the person you are obsessing over feels. That is important. This is a great book that really helps deal with a sickness appropriately. It is not a quick fix it is not cheesy. It deals you the truth and then tells you exercises to do everyday to help you deal with the pain. It takes work and dedication to make yourself a healthier person but with this book, you can do it.

This book delivers, I did not know about options prior reading, the simple and yet comprehensive presentation allows to develop a good grasp of how to use options on a conservative and solid fashion.
What he advocates (protection and enhancement) of a portfolio is well presented and plan to use his advice.
More likely will now seek more information and knowledge with more elaborated books (not sure is really needed) but the basics are here.

I found this book to be just what I was looking for. After a complete introduction to the topic, Mr. Wolfinger helps the novice options investor clearly understand one conservative strategy. The author is very dedicated and thorough in explaining the concepts. He makes no assumptions that the reader has previous knowledge of what he teaches, yet he is never condescending. I also appreciate the easy to read font size. The text is large enough that I can read it without my glasses! Many thanks to the author for having the patience and know-how to start a beginner from "square one". I look forward to other books on the subject by this author.

Enjoyed this book! It delivers as promised. I picked it up hoping to get a clear understanding of options and how they work. I was more than pleased, as this book provided all I was looking for, and more. The author presents material in pleasant, easy to grasp language. I now have a very clear understanding of options. The covered call writing strategy sounds good to me. I never knew it was so easy to obtain some safety for my stocks. I have already opened my options account and my broker is offering encouragement.

If you're going to have dessert, then have dessert. That said, why try to bake diet fudge cake? Ironically, these aren't actually the heaviest recipes I've read for desserts - the sour cream fudge layer cake (0kay I slipped in fat free sour cream with no harm!) is actually quite reasonable in the calorie department and fabulous. Oh, who am I kidding? This is no diet book, simply one of the very best baking books with foolproof recipes, explicit instructions, a friendly tone, and enough variety to please all. I recommend it as a classic for perfect baked goods. It has a place of honor on my shelf. Cookies, cakes, frostings...simply the best. Everyone will think you had a friendly grandma who taught you everything.

I bought this book in a used bookstore - hard to imagine! I love baking but have been let down by one to many recipes in my time. This booked looked different though - the title itself goes along with my thinking of baking. When I bake I am not into the diet - fatfree form. I intend to indulge in all the delicious flavors that only come from "real" ingredients. I tried several things and they all turned out perfectly. Then I baked the pinapple upside down cake and my father-in-law who isn't the biggest talker - couldn't stop talking about the "best cake he had ever tasted". Try the brownies, the carrot-pinapple cake and the chocolate chip cookies too, oh and the pie crust recipe - simple and perfect every time. You will never find my copy of this book in a used bookstore. This is just simply the best ever baking book I have ever owned.

If nothing else, you must try Rosie's award-winning brownie recipe at least once!!! They are phenomenal! It is the perfect combination of fudginess with the right amount of chewiness / gooeyness. Rosie's Boom-Boom's on the following page add a cheesecake-like topping which gets swirled in and that dessert is to die for too!! The stories added on to each recipe are cute, and the recipes I have made (mostly from the cookies and bars sections of her book) have been fairly uncomplicated and turned out delicious every time!

Author Al Arsenault offers a complete view of chin-na (gripping/grappling) techiques for the ground, from initial standing position to the ground application. The level of this book is basic to advanced--a person with little experience (you'll likely need some grappling experience to understand any book on ground or throwing arts) can hone their understanding through practicing and studing the explanations in the narrative. Advanced concepts are also demonstrated and explained in an organized manner.

The format in this book endears itself to study, with photos and diagrams clear and easy to comprehend. Arsenault goes beyond simply showing a technique which might be difficult to apply without an experienced instructor by explaining through detailed narrative precisely how one must manouver and position oneself. We also learn WHY the techniques and positioning are done as they are done, how they work, and how to get the most out of a technique. This practical and sensible approach can be appreciated by grapplers and strikers alike.

The square construction of this thick book makes it less likely to flop shut when you spread it on the mat to experiment with the techniques shown within. All in all, a straightforward offering which can offer new ideas and applications regardless of one's style of practice.

This book is extremely well written and well photographed. Any and every person, both martial artist and lay person, will be able to learn directly from this book. This is a "must have" reference work. The material is well organized. The text is very complete and nearly exhaustive in presenting the principles, theories and submission holds of ground fighting chin na. This is a truly remarkable "martial science" reference written by true scholar/warriors. I recommend this book to everyone who wants to broaden their knowledge base for truly fast, effective and powerful martial arts techniques. I eagerly await Al and Joe's next book.

This book is invaluable to any martial artist who wants to expand they're ability.. As someone who has studied this type martial art for over 30 years, its the first of its kind to "bridge the gap" on paper. Al Arsenault has taken the art of control and restraint to another level, most haven't experinced. His explinations are clear, concise, easy to understand. So many books written are full of "filler jargon", this book is exploding with factual, practical information. I have recommended this book to all my students and all my friends that practice martial arts. One of the best martial arts books I've ever read. It took me a long time before I got around to reading this book, but once I did, I wondered why I hadn't read it earlier! Dumping prisoners on an empty planet is a fairly old Si-Fi concept and has been used many times, but never with the angle Longyear takes on it. Not only is it facinating as a fiction novel in itself, but is also a psycological book that will open your eyes to the modern day prison system and its flaws. Although I have never been very interested, or had many opinions on 'Justice', this book has helped me form some of my opinions on it. I found the book to be very realistic portrayal of the criminal mind/society and I would recomend this book to EVERYONE!!!!! I have already recomended this book to my history and psycology teachers after hearing concepts in their classes that this book could apply to. Please give the book a try. I garenttee that you will be glad you did! I was! :)

I first read this book many years ago and was totally intrigued with the concept of dumping prisoners on a planet to fend for themselves. Their development of law was fascinating to me and keeps coming back whenever our current laws somehow fail. I would love to see this book as a movie.
