The International Encyclopedia of Hard Rock & Heavy Metal
Published in Paperback by Trans-Atlantic Publications (December, 1991)
Authors: Tony Jasper and Derek Oliver
Amazon base price: $42.50
Average review score:

This is an incredible reference guide.
This reference book is one of the most in-depth works on heavy metal music that I have ever found. The entries for major bands are accurate and interesting, but the real value lies in the entries for lesser-known and regional bands. This book is a must-have for anyone interested in hard rock or heavy metal.

IH Photographic History
This is an excellent book all the way around. Klancher did an EXCELLENT job writing this book. It is easy to read and well organized. It has great original photographs of most models. I wasn't previously interested in pre-letter series tractors (Titans, Mogals, etc.) but this book got me interested. I would HIGHLY recommend this book to anyone. It's one of the best of my twenty or so IH and other tractor books.

Iron Maiden, still slaughtering after 25 years!
Up the irons baby, Iron Maiden will never die! For all the initiated fans of the Lords of Metal this book is a must, and for those who aren't what is wrong with you, don't like heavy metal, if not I'll hunt you down and show you the error of your ways! Anyway enough of my ramblings, "A Live Dead One" is an excellent companion to any Maiden album, and enriches both your knowledge, and respect for one of the greatest bands in the history of metal. This book chronicles the band's humble beginings in rural Englad, as well as their triumphant rise to metal masters. If you consider yourself a fan of great music first, buy either "Live After Death", or "Piece of Mind", along with this book and you will not be dissapointed. Peace.

Excellent history of John Deere engineering and development
This book was an excellent history of the behind the scenes work in the John Deere design studios during the early days of farm tractor building in the US. A superb overview of how Deere and Co. arrived at the design they built.

Information for beginners and for experienced restorers.
Who would have thought that someone would write a book about the exact tractor model that I chose to collect? Why did author Pripps write about this particular tractor? The way he explains it, the first reason is, it's a John Deere! Secondly, it is the perfect size, not too big to handle, but not too small to do some useful work. Third, because there were enough of them built so that parts are still common and affordable. Finally, because there were enough changes and variations over the seventeen year production run that there is something interesting for beginner and expert alike. This is where the book excels; the keyword in the title is "guide". Pripps takes you through the history of the development of the Model B. You not only learn where and when the parts were changed and improved, but also WHY. It's not a "how to do it" book, it tells WHAT you need to do, what's correct, what's incorrect, and what to watch out for. You'll find out how to do an accurate restoration. The entire book is illustrated with clear vintage photographs, excellent shots of recent restorations, and diagrams from actual John Deere manuals from the Model B era. I have been collecting model B's since 1990 and I found the book to be very useful.
