Your Body Is Your Best Doctor
Dr. Melvin Page, D.D.S. developed a system of body measurements to determine one's inherited glandular pattern. He measured thousands of patients and was able to correlate various glandular patterns with different degenerative diseases. The deviations from an ideal glandular pattern were not gross abnormalities that you would find in endocrinology text books, but slight deviations that neverthless make significant effects on one's health. This book does not deal with his techique of measurement. This is dealt with in another book titled Degeneration Regeneration. This book deals mainly with the diseases associated with various glandular patterns. It also deals with personality traits that may be associated with the different patterns. He also presents his diet for health. This diet was presented over forty years ago and it stands the test of time. This is a must read for any student of diet and nutrition. Raymond C. Forbes, D.M.D.

Getting the information edge
In this informaiton age, how information is collected, managed and used will determine the success of modern organizations. From a slow paper based information system to high speed digital information system the modern business came a long way and now the quantum of information that flows in has been increased multifold. Though informaiton is a must for modern organizations, not all the information is relevant to all the people. For managing modern organizations in this complex boarderless world, one needs greater focus. One page management helps in solving the problem of processing of high volume information and creating focus for managers of all levels to run the business in the right directions. Written in the style of "One Minute" books of Dr. Kenneth Blanchard, this book helps managers of all levels in setting key success areas suitable for their level of responbility and allign their goals with the organization's goals. A must read for all those who is managing in today's complex business and prefer clarity and focus.

Just what I needed!
Simple and effective tools to help with the complex and difficult job of achieving high performance from a large group in a fast moving organization.

A very practical and simple approach
A mythical Brian Scott was selected as president and CEO of a struggling company for his unique ability to get to the heart of the problem and implement effective solutions, being given two years of freedom to implement change. As he took up the challenge he planned a short-term strategy of cost controls, inventory reductions, cash flow and firing key people while seeking a long-term solution to ensure the future growth of the company. But he also knew that "If you don't know what's wrong, you can't fix it." Scott was aware that financial statements could not tell him the whole story; he also needed opinions from top management. So he asked everybody open-ended questions such as " Why do you think the company is in trouble?" He found that almost everyone blamed someone else or a different department and it was clear that coordination and cooperation fell well short of the optimum. Lack of communication, finger pointing, refusal to accept responsibility, information overload, and lack of concise relevant data were among the symptoms plaguing the company. Scott was unable to get answers to his basic questions and the fact that he was ten levels removed from his first-line supervisors did not help.

He realized that he had to find the truth for himself and that relying solely on the impressions of others might give him a view that could be far from reality. Scott had two problems - getting to know a new, large company quickly and then keeping abreast of what is going on. The reporting process did not give him the real problems nor did it give him the opportunities being missed. He had a pile of information that had to be screened - a process he did not have time for. He decided to put all key information on three one-page reports:
- Report #1: Focus Report giving key information on what you do
- Report #2: Feedback Report giving the good news and bad news about what you do
- Report #3: Manager Report giving the good news and bad news about what your people do

He then had to answer the question "How do you define success?" This leads to defining success factors such as profitability, market share, debt ratio or a motivated, productive and unified work force and then putting a number to each factor to show where he was now and where he wanted to be within a specified time frame. He finished up with too many factors which required culling to determine the Critical Success Factors. Then he had to relate the Critical Success Factors to the departments providing the information.

The information above was culled from Part I of the book which continues with Part II: One Page Management, Part III: Linking the One Page Reports, Part IV: The Power of One Page Management. In today's competitive environment many companies will go out of business in the next few years or will at least face a tough struggle. The approach in this book is very helpful as it focuses attention on getting key information. It is difficult to see how this book could not make a difference to most people. Few of us have the perfect system in place. When was the last time we asked "Am I getting the information I need to be successful in my job in a speedy, concise and useful form?" The fact that Dennis Scholl, President of Signal Capital Corporation could write "I was so excited by One Page Management that I spent the bulk of my vacation reading it three times. We have now implemented the system for our sales force and it has already made a noticeable difference", suggests that the authors have pinpointed a problem experienced by many companies and that the authors have presented a solution in a readable and readily applicable manner. dwillis@afs.edu.gr

Don't Study the Massorah Without it
This main reason to buy this is for the annotated glossary od massoretic terms. It's the best guide to use those oh-so-cryptic massoretic notes on the margins of BHS. Many detailed definitions of the words and abbreviations-- far more useful information than most other similar introductions to BHS. I give it four stars instead of five because I wish they had done the same thing for the critical apparatus at the bottom. Other books cover the critical apparatus, but I think these authors could explain it much better than any other book currently does.

eureka
Indispensible tool for any serious Hebrew student: this book answers most questions that I have concerning the notation of the Masoretic. I recommend all Christians to own and study this book whenever they could.

An excellent grammar
This is an excellent grammar with lots of very clear explanations and Biblical quotes. I would use it as a reference tool only, not as a Hebrew manual since the content of each lesson can be quite overwhelming.

Warning answers not included
This is a great beginning book. The lessons are well laid out and extremely straightforward. Kelley's starts you off with a core set of words that he continues to use throughout the book adding a few more words every lesson but still using the old words. This gives you the benefit of being able to become extremely familier with some important words, it also has the added benefit of allowing the student to focus in on the grammer instead of having to spend all the grammer lessons on trying to translate the meaning of the words you can concentrate on the conjugation and such. The book starts with nouns and adjectives and only after the student has a firm base does he move on to the infinitly more difficult verbs. Hey what did you expect it is Hebrew. One caution, although the book is full of excercises there are no answers. To get the answers you have to buy another book the handbook which accompanies this book. This is somewhat annoying and is the only reason this manual doesn't deserve 5 stars. The exercises are however extremely helpful in practicing and developing language skills.

Your Best Bet
I am currently finishing up my studies in Kelly. This work book is very solid, Kelly has taken a very in-depth and detailed approach to biblical hebrew. I am a Bible and Theology Major studying under one of Oxford's finest Hebrew profs. This work book can be used by anyone and is great for teaching yourself. Just make sure you buy the Handbook with the answers too...that is a life saver. If you are planning on teaching yourself "biblical" hebrew, then Kelly is the best route you can go, in my opinion of course.

Great book
I had a chance to review this book. I think the authors can make us much better understand, particularly one who is about to learn the concept of statistics. You can apply this book with the SPSS program in order to interpret the results. Anyway, I still like the calculation parts which are removed in this edition (3rd) compared with the last one. I think they can help someone, who is very interested in statistics, to understand better before go ahead to use the computer. It's a great book for the beginner.

A very user friendly approach to understanding statistics.
An excellent beginning reference book for anyone in need of understanding or interpreting univariate and multivariate statistics. Geared toward health care research, with many examples. A data set is provided with the book for students to use with different analyses. Reading audience is upper division undergraduate or graduate student.

Statistical Methods for Health Care Research
A very well-written and helpful statistics book. It was required reading for a course in Quantitative Nursing Research last semester. Overall, the concepts such as t-tests, correlation and regression were explained in relatively simple terms. Examples with answers were found at the end of each chapter and the book came with a data disk. This was the most user-friendly statistics book that I have used so far!

Practical for Sunday School
This book is very useful for Sunday School teachers (pre-school age). Not only does it give you a clear instruction on how to make the finger puppets, it also gives out ideas on using it for lessons. The idea lessons refers to certain Bible verses besides everyday life experience. Once you get the hang of making the puppets, you can even be creative and design your own puppets! (the basic patterns are pretty similiar; it's the details that vary) Great book!

an informative book on a fascinating subject
The author describes the unwrapping and examination of the Egyptian priest Horemkenesi's mummy, which dates back to the 11th century BC. Based on his research, the author has been able to picture the death and mummification of the Ancient Egyptians. Divided in two sections, the first one takes the priest's life in the Twenty-First Dynasty into account, and the second one focuses on his mummy. Illustrated in color as well as in black and white, this recommended book will be most enjoyed by the mummy enthusiast.

Powers of Evil

ack. what IS this?!
no no no. for one thing this book doesnt even deserve ONE star. for another, although i have nothing against Christians, i'm a Demonic Hunter(and witch), i track and consort demons often in other words. the author of this book doesnt seem to know a lot about Demons. i found it a rather pathetic attempt to make you feel safer and happier with God. ...and i never will be but this book was just ridiculous.

Theological research how it should be.....
This was a very interesting and informative read. The author had clearly done his homework. Instead of propping up his personal and/or denominational agenda, he gave equal play to various interpretations. At the same time, he would explain why a particular interpretation was strained or altogether wrong.

I have yet to find a better Biblical exploration of the subject of demonology. Far to often such books are full of paranoia, speculation, and extra-biblical quotations. This was a well-grounded and scholarly approach to one of the tougher subjects in Christian theology. Favorable consideration should be given "Powers of Evil."

Excellent Writing on Satan and Other Evil Spirits
Page's "Powers of Evil" is an excellent study on Satan, fallen angels, demons, and evil spirits from a Christian perspective. The book is such a fine approach to the topic that a motivated person reads straight through the whole book. It seems the author's motivation for writing this book derives from today's confusion about Satan and evil spirits. People "are confronted by a bewildering array of conflicting ideas and claims" about these supernatural beings. The author is convinced that "the [Christian] Bible's authority is primary" for understanding the nature and actions of Satan and his angels. Moreover, it is wise to read the Holy Scripture for getting a true picture of these celestial beings and being able to distinguish between a meaningful statement and nonsense about Satan and evil spirits. He writes: "One cannot expect to be able to assess contemporary phenomena with discernment without having a solid grasp of what the Bible actually teaches". Dr. Page uses the Christian Bible very carefully as the main authority for his research and conclusion. Furthermore, he takes into consideration many commentaries and other writings about the topic. Page's book is very well developed and outlined. First, he writes about Satan, fallen angels, demons, and evil spirits in the Old Testament. Afterwards, he is focused on Satan and Jesus in conflict as well as Jesus' mastery of the demons (New Testament). Finally, Dr. Page writes about the apostolic teaching concerning Satan and the powers of evil (New Testament). Page's discussion of every explicit reference to Satan and other evil spirits in the Christian Bible and the brief excursus on exorcism in the modern world are very insightful and supportive. Analyzing such a difficult topic and referring to modern forms of appearances through God's Word, extensive research and a clear mind make this book an excellent academic and valuable writing. Page's book can certainly assist people to understand the "world" of Satan and evil spirits as well as the mastery of all these evil spirits through Christ Jesus.

Great read
During the summer of 2001 I had the privilege of studying with Mike Stuart at Cambridge University. Mike displayed wonderful examples of good company: whitty intellect, humorous, personable and easy-going. I have read this book several times, getting something new and insightful each time. I feel this is just the beginning of great works by Mike and I would strongly encourage the reading of, The Pages of Yesterday.

A book of Memories
This novel is a very well written book which will take your soul through all the highs and lows of growing up as a teenager, and the transformation from child to adult. The author should be comended for his works a great first piece I only expect further great works from M.H Stuart.
