Chris Campbell is an unusual person who managed to go deeply into addiction yet retain enough awareness and intelligence to write about it as she went along. Her story reads with the innocence of a naif in the jaws of evil. It's hard to stop reading once you start, and it's all to easy to imagine yourself or your kids in the same situation - good and caring and bright yet unable to say no. Sampbell's story may be more complicated than is related in this narrative of adolesence, but the simplicity of her view is a message in itself.

This book features widow Camilla struggling to keep her small dairy (and mixed) farm afloat, after the death of husband David in a freak accident. Both her late husband and her uncle have made her promise not to sell to neighbour Quinn Fraser, but why? Again, no spoilers, but the rural setting is beautifully described as are the neighbors. (As in Regency romances, where there are plenty of lords and especially Dukes around, Donald's novels have wealthy landowners/ gentleman farmers galore).

Camilla rejects help from Quinn; in the meantime cousin Karen (a nice person) arrives looking for a job. But how is Camilla going to keep herself afloat, and how will she repay her bank loan? Small disasters that quickly become major ones, a possible thief or rapist, and Camilla's growing attraction to a man who has been forbidden to her...

A pleasant and competent story, although not one that sticks in your mind a few days after reading.

Inflated volume - better published as a booklet

Although I found the information contained in this book very helpful, I felt that I was overcharged for it. The book could have easily been condensed down to a booklet or even a magazine article, at less price, without any loss of substance.

The text is not only written in large type on small pages, the format is interspersed frequently with quotations in unnecessarily very large type. Some of the information is repeated too often, as well. Yes, this was a useful book, but I feel as if I have been cheated out of a real book after having paid the price for one.

As this is not my type of humor in reading material, I only wish to describe it. It's basically NY metropolitan area material overheard by a comic illustrator and editorial art director. The author worked for "The Village Voice" where these comic strips ran. Some titles of these strips are "Friday Night at Maxwell's Plum", "Two Sex Scenes: Westchester and Manhattan", Vernal Equinox at the Hayden Planetarium", "Thanksgiving Weekend, Port Authority", "Walking Tour: SoHo Art Through Anarchist Eyes", "Views From the Suburbs", "Indoor Activities at Grossinger's", "Symposium on Marriage at St.John the Divine" and "Bug Watch in Rye, New York". I would classify the humor as "New Yorker" magazine style but I could be mistaken.

Save the money and just buy his newsletter if you really must, the book basically an advertizement for the newsletter. As one of my old bosses used to say .. it's easier to make a million dollars by getting $1.00 from a million people than a million dollars from one person. Rather than putting the $ into this newletter ..There is a newsletter out there that has been rating investment stock/equity newsletters performance for well over ten years, probably like mutual funds ratings - I've read of it I never subscribe to it though - that would be my starting point ... before I starting investing in newsletter. I would be getting a subscription to the newsletter that rates the other newsletter, initially before I bought Bowsers. I read yesterday, "there are special software companies" (source of information below) out there that blocks negative reviews that are published on the internet for a fee of course - so don't put to much weight on no negative comments absent from the internet sites - specifically this information comes from Taking Stock byline? Malcome Berko, the article in question there was Optionnetics program .. in the Gainesville Sun, newspaper, Monday April 28, 2008, I believe his articles are syndicated in many newspapers - hard copy.

Do not buy this book. All these positive reviews look very similar. The titles are all in capital letters. Obviously a scam just the title is. If it sounds too good to be true it usuall is!

As I see it there can only be three categories of people writing positive reviews for this book. 1. Mr. Bowser himself. 2. Mr. Bowser writing under a pseudonym. 3. Someone else that Mr. Bowser got to write a positive review.

Not what I'd consider a book on investing

I recently purchased this book, having been curious upon seeing its title. I assumed that I'd be purchasing a book that explained the hows and whys of an investment system.

I must say that I'm extremely disappointed. The book appears to me to be a justification for why Bowser's "investment system" is a good idea compared to traditional "large cap" stocks or mutual funds. I didn't see anything that struck me as actually explaining the system itself. What I did notice was the book's mention that "all you need to get started" is to subscribe to Bowser's newletter for $54 a year and see his specific stock recommendations. In my opinion this book is not a description of a "system" - it seems to me more like an advertisement for another, more expensive product.

I didn't find anything of value in this book, other than the general sentiments that "sometimes Wall Street misses a bargain", and "don't invest all your money in one stock". Worthy points, but not what I was expecting out of the book. I don't see anything that I'd consider unique investment advice in this book.

Misleading title........

Where's the system? You're not going to find it in this book.Buy the newsletter Mr.Bowser is preaching about, maybe you'll find it in there. This book is basically an introductory offer to the newsletter.Misleading title, very dissappointed reading it.....
