A Reliable Antidote to Ill Humor
Van Amerongen's zany cast of characters may at first strike the reader as so far out there as to be slightly beyond the horizon, but I defy you to read through the entire book without laughing out loud. This collection of single panel comics features the bored, "Glenn is pulled along in the slipstream of Beverly's life", and the overboard, "The encroachment of adhesives on the fabric of the family", as well as tanatalizing drawings that portend the intrusion of the latter into the lives of the former.

This book belongs in every community leader's tool box
Having been involved in a politically driven issue that threatened the serenity and security of my neighborhood and having to do battle with a variety of special interests, I can honestly say this book is a "how to" with substance.

The Tiny Books are Great for Beginning Readers
The Tiny books are outstanding for beginning readers. The pictures in the book correlate well with the story and help the new reader figure out the words they may not know. My beginning reader loves these books and she's read them many times. In this book, Tiny and his owner go the library where his owner finds books on dogs, books on frogs, etc. Also, every page has a little blue bird that my daughter loves to find. Overall, I highly recommend these and hope that there are many more to come!

This book displays a variety of manufacturers' lines of farming equipment.

Up Goes the Skyscraper!

Perfect for the preschooler or young grade schooler
In her appropriate matter-of-fact style, Gail Gibbons, explains how a skyscraper is built. The language chosen is well suited to children age four and up.

The story starts as the reason for the building -- people needing a place to live and work. It briefly touches on the work of the engineers and architects before it starts describing the actual construction. Although it doesn't go into great depth, enough information is provided to spur further research for older children. For younger children, their questions are easily answered by adults and/or by looking at the wonderful illustrations.

The illustrations are perfectly detailed -- not too complex nor too simple. They do a very nice job of depicting all the work that goes on during the construction. They show everything from digging and building the foundation, through building the framework, the interior finishing work and finally the tenets moving into the building.

The book covers some rather advanced concepts that may go over the heads of younger audiences. The core of the building is discussed, as is fireproofing the beams, and building the curtain wall. Still, they are not covered in such detail to lose younger children.

This very nice book is currently one of the favorites of my two and four year-olds. Gail Gibbons books are always well-liked.

This slave book was the best one we read.
I liked this book because I like Indians. They are friendly. This book was exciting because Pa got bit by a snake. Another thing I liked was how they almost died. They faced Indians who were friendly, but Ginny's family thought they were mean. Pa faced a rattler that poisoned him. They also had little water in the desert. They were trying to get to freedom. All of these incidents made the book interesting.

The best book I've ever read!
I have read a lot of books in my life, but this is one of the best that I have read. Usually it takes a while for a book to catch my interest, but this book caught my attention from the beginning and I couldn't put it down until I finished reading the hole book. If this book doesn't become a movie, then the movie business has really lost a winner! This is a brilliant book.

My four year old neice recited the entire book from memory last time I saw her. I guess she loves it.
