Plonk Goes the Weasel
Published in Paperback by Infinity Publishing (28 November, 2003)
Author: Joan DelMonte
Amazon base price: $14.95
Average review score:

Plonk Means the Sweet Wine of Revenge
This book is a fun romp through the various (and devious) ploys used as payback for a slimy Hollywood 'big wheel' named Zoltan Diesel. If you enjoy seeing the little guy get even, and an Ego get deflated, then order this book. It's a great way to spend a couple of free evenings - (I picked it up and there went my weekend.)I couldn't decide who the real people must be that the book was mirroring. Del Monte writes like people talk, not like a stilted grammar book. It reminds me of Edward Abbey at his best ("The Monkey Wrench Gang") and I would recommend it.

For those who'd like to sing along...
Have you ever wanted music for some of the songs in Tolkien's "Lord of the Rings"? This book will let you do so.

Consisting of six poem/songs from "The Lord of the Rings" and one from Tolkien's poem cycle "The Adventures of Tom Bombadil", the songs move in tone from seeking adventure ("The Road Goes Ever On) to melancholic ("Namarie") to just plain rollicking fun ("Errantry").

The music fits well with the words, almost as if Tolkien himself had been leaning over Swann's shoulder dictating. It's easy to play, as well, leaving the performer (and the audience) to concentrate on the words.

Finally, in the back, there's notes, translations, an explanations for "Namarie" and " A Elboreth Gilthoniel". Adding to the prettiness of the music, the script on each page is in Tolkien's own hand.

All in all, it's a worthy addition to any Tolkien-lover's shelf, especially if you're a musician.

We would follow Stephen Huneck's black Labrador, Sally, anywhere--to the beach, to the mountains, and certainly to the farm. The Sally books are wonderfully witty glimpses into the simple psyche of a dog, where exciting new smells and tastes reign supreme. Sally first meets the golden Lab Molly, and after a comical round of introductory sniffing, her new friend proceeds to introduce her to Bessie the cow, who squirts them with milk. The doggy duo then eats like pigs, horses around, plows a field, and narrowly escapes a goosing. Each oversized illustration explodes with generous, boldly colored woodcut prints, as Huneck artfully captures the gorgeous striped geometry of farmland and fences--along with amusing canine antics. Simple sentences in a large clear font (designed by the artist himself) ensure smooth sailing and happy endings for early readers, but adults will enjoy the dry humor of these books just as much as kids will. (Ages 2 to 6) --Karin Snelson

The Best Book Yet in Huneck's Series!
Delightful! Colorful! Enchanting! Stephen Huneck knows exactly what dogs think and what they love to do! Sally has certainly been on some wonderful adventures, to the beach and to the mountains, but going to the farm is just the most humorous and delightful story yet. The artist's charm and wit is magical. Everyone will love this book! And the woodcut prints that illustrate the books are absolutley fabulous! Anyone with a love for dogs, colorful art, or humor should buy this book (...)

Janice Chaffee has done a wonder job in giving hope to any woman who have gone through divorce and infidelity, as well single mothers and single women to know God loves them beyond all hurt and pain. An absolute delight!
Many stories take one away from the day to day. "A Small Country Living Goes On" takes one away from everyday. The reader is unknowingly transported to a time not of fiction or fantasy but one of reality. A daily routine which many readers wish will, one day, be their own. We find charm in the mundane, whimsy in the daily flow. Back breaking yet delightful. I found myself viewing my dog within a new light. A wonderful read!
