Great begginer level letters and sounds
My 3.5 year old loves the Timothy Goes to School series on PBS. That is why when I saw this book, I grabbed it immediately and I was not wrong.

Based on the Timothy characters, the book is not as much a story as it is a set of fun excersises that let kids learn and practice letters and sounds. The level of difficulty is manageable for a 3 year old who knows some of the letters. The activities are fun and not complicated. We read this book on our bus commute every day and it helped my son grasp not only letters, but also sounds and rhymes.

Definitely a good one.

A Spiritual Journey Continues---
Philip Gulley is not only a great story teller, he is a resource for spiritual enlightenment. There is a "lesson(s)" in every chapter! Readers will see themselves in the characters because all of Gulley's "people" are human--open/closed minded, loving/hateful, confused/focused, assertive/passive; Pastor Sam realizes that he has not been honest with himself--haven't we all been there at one time or another? The fourth novel about the little imaginary town in Indiana called Harmony and its parade of characters is a wonderful read. .The book lifts up the "human condition" and helps us understand that our pains, sorrows, joys, frustrations, and loves all have value in shaping who we are and what we are becoming. Every page is spiced with Gulley's humor that warms one's heart and brings laughter and chuckles to the reader. The last two pages of the book is full of love. . .God's love.

Life Goes on: Adult Poetry Concerned With Life Situations from Birth to Death
Published in Paperback by Stonehaven Pub (August, 1987)
Author: Eugene L. Vickery

Thoughtful, meaningful, and riviting poetry that inspired me
This slim volume of poetry is, like Sandburg and Whittman, very readable and completely accessable, even for those who do not, ordinarily, find themselves drawn to poems. Each, of the more than 85 pieces, is a precious and intimate view of the many stages of Life, from birth to beyond death, that illuminates and inspires. Dr. Vickery drew from his own experiences as a country physician, father, and community leader, and imparts a simple, yet abiding wisdom that both children and adults will find to be a valuable tool to living. His insights into all the aspects of existence reveal a clear vision based on an unflawed perception of morality, what has come to be known as "family values". This book, along with another of Dr. Vickery's works, titled "Dad Calls Me Jack", offers a well rounded and thoughtful presentation of a remarkable man and his philosophies. Never pedantic or "preachy", his words are simple, yet direct. His are the words of the wise father or grandfather who imparts his wisdom in an Aesop-like fashion, that is eminently readable because his style is so down-to-earth. One of the clearest things I found in Dr. Vickery's writings, was his love of Life and the people in his life. His flat-out appreciation of Life's many miracles, the great ones like love, birth and faith, as well as the small ones, like the fall of evening, remind me that every moment is cause for celebration and gratitude. What greater gift could any author hope to convey?

The Bold and the Beautiful
This 1975 "coffee table" book is just what you'd expect--and that's why I recommend it. The focus is on the famous: Great big photos of silver screen idols from the silent days through the studio era and beyond. There's a bit of history (mostly tangential to the people making the movies), a little scandal, good "behind the scenes" images and facts, and some attention to non-American film, but this is mostly the public face of Hollywood. "Life Goes to the Movies" features an outstanding collection of large format photos, many of them familiar (although many of them will be new to readers). The overriding spirit is a celebration, not of "film," but of what fans know and love as the "movies."

A delightful day for a 2 year old girl
This board book, full of realistic photos of a day in park, was the favorite of my toddler daughter for at least a year! In images that might seem dull to an adult, it charts a trip to the part shared by Lily and her mom, with simple activtites like swings and sandbox to fill Lily's afternoon.

Limo Louie
The 36 limo stories are really very, very funny! I always wondered what went on in the back of those huge, super-stretch limos and now I have some idea. Unbelievable! The stories are really hilarious! I think it would make a good movie, or TV mini-series with someone like, Leslie Nielson, or Jim Carey, or Robin Williams posing as the driver.

This book is really a gem, and I enjoyed reading it and laughing out loud..so much that people began to stare at me until I showed the cover!

Little Rabbit's Sick!
Oneday Little Rabbit got home from school. He told his mom, "I'm don't feel good." His mom took his tempeture and she he'd better go to the doctor. But he told his mother he did not want to go. He had to obey his mother so he went. His mother rang the doorbell and the nurse let them in. Then he wrote his name on the nurse's clipboard. While he waited in the playroom he saw his friend Bunny. Bunny let him cut her on going to the doctor. The doctor said he had an earache and had to take purple medicine every night before he went to bed. He also got a lollypop. He took his medicine like the docter said and soon he could play with his friends again.

Little Fox Goes to the End of the World
Little Fox is tired of having to play in the same area day after day. She wants to travel to the end of the world. When her mother asks about the end of the world, Little Fox tells her of the many dangers and problems that she will have to face to get there. From deep forests to the island of the One-eyed Cats, Little Fox is determined to make it. Her mother is frightened, but Little Fox explains how she will overcome each of these conflicts. Will Little Fox make it to the end of the world and back home safely?
This was a great book, and I recommend it to anyone looking for a fun short story. The illustrations correspond wonderfully with the storyline. This is a quick and easy read. Enjoyable for children of all ages.
