Farmer Brown Goes Round and Round

Frivolity on the Farm
Teri Sloat is the author of several books including: The Thing That Bothered Farmer Brown, and she lives near a farm. Nadine Bernard Westcott is also no stranger to farms and animal sounds.

All the animals are just comical. The cat is also quite cute. At the beginning, all the animals are making their normal animally sounds. The pigs are oinking, the cows moo.

But then he heard a rumbling sound That made his smile turn upside down. ...."Look out!" he cried. "A twister's coming!"

The following pages will bring giggles as all the animals get caught up in the clothes line and the expressions on the sheep's faces.....you just have to see it!

When the twister drops them all, the sheep are clucking and the cows are oinking. More silliness continues as the sheep take over the roost and the muddy, oinking cows get slopped.

The rooster takes over the farmer's job and tells everyone what to do. Fortunately another twister hits and sets things right again.

"Except on days when strong winds blew...."

A purely silly delight!

It's the only book my kids want to read now!!
My kids and I both love the whimsical nature of both Farmer Brown books by Teri Sloat. The wording and pictures go perfectly together and are good for a laugh and putting us all in a fun and silly mood. I hope there are more Farmer Brown adventures to come!

You've gotta love the gentle Franklin.
Here's Franklin with his friends in FRANKLIN GOES TO DAY CAMP. It's an excellent way to introduce kids to the idea of day camp and to the concept of journaling. There are word games and puzzles, a maze, and a board game, all surrounded by beautiful, bright illustrations. It's also good for a child who's sick or stuck indoors on a rainy day. I suggest using a pencil on the puzzles so you can erase and do them again. Or cover the page with plastic and write on that. The affordable book works on several levels: story, journal, games.

Franklin Goes To Day Camp
This book was great! My 6 and 7 year olds loved it. I liked how it was set up as a journal, that Franklin kept each day he went to camp. This was something my children could relate to because they kept and write in journals at school. My children especially enjoyed doing the activities that went along with Franklin's camp activities. The book is very well thought out and my help alleviate some camp anxieties your child my have.

Froggy Goes to the Doctor

Kids who go to the doctor for a routine checkup shouldn't worry too much. Unless they accidentally throw a paper airplane ("zwish!") into the doctor's eye. Or forget to wear underwear. ("Oops!") Or kick the doctor in the chin when she's testing knee reflexes with a little rubber hammer. ("Clack!") The beloved Froggy is his usual out-of-control self in Dr. Mugwort's office, and preschoolers pondering an impending doctor visit will be relieved to know it won't be too bad, might be fun, and could even involve a gold star or a lollipop. Jonathan London and illustrator Frank Remkiewicz disarm their young readers with giggles in books from Froggy Learns to Swim to Froggy Goes to School. Froggy's silly sound effects and slapstick antics guarantee a lively read-aloud. If laughter is indeed the best medicine, it's good to have a little Froggy on hand. If You Like Froggy Books, This is One of the Better Ones
I feel a little sheepish giving this 5 stars. Frankly, I don't much care for the Froggy series. Here's the truth, though - it doesn't matter what I think. My 5-year-old loves all the Froggy books, and they serve as great motivators for him to continue learning to read.

I'd recommend this book over most of the other Froggy books. Froggy's misbehavior is (thankfully) not a major topic here, and the book conveys a useful lesson about doctors. Recommended.

Wow!
This froggy books is as good as the rest of the froggy books. My 22 month old loves the froggy books. They are her favorite books to read. Froggy goes to the doctor is great for kids. I really like Froggy! This froggy book is great, it teaches the kids that froggy doesn't like going to the doctor just like them! Froggy is great for teaching kids things!! My 22 month old loved this book. She goes to the bookcase and always brings me a froggy book when she wakes up in the morning! This a must have!!

Changes the way you look at movies...
Found this book inspirational and insightful. The reviews made me look at movies I'd already seen in a new light... and made me want to see other films I'd previously dismissed. Definitely worth a read. If nothing else, it may introduce you to some spiritual celluloid gems you'd previously overlooked.

Don't go to the video store without it!
It reviews a lot of movies that you might expect in such a guide (stuff like "City of Angels" and "What Dreams May Come"), but I was very impressed by all of the non-obvious inclusions. (I'll certainly never look at "Dead Poets Society" or "Pleasantville" the same way again!) If you're spiritually-inclined and spend a lot of time wandering through video stores wondering what to rent (I'm guilty on both counts), I highly recommend this book.

Justine is absolutely brilliant and has a beautiful way with words.

grumpy bunny makes you laugh
Grumpy bunny is always a good book when you are in a bad mood. He always makes you laugh. This book is quite the adventure about all things that could go wrong on a vacation. Hopper learns that sometimes having fun is a little work but its certainly worth the work.

Let's Dance
Ms. Torrey is a writer who can deconstruct a day's humble texture and, like a prospector panning for gold, come up with nuggets of insight and sparkling humor. In He Goes, She Goes, she draws the arc of her heroine, Alice, who, after the death of her father, is struggling to redefine her identity in the absence of his dominating influence. Remembering her abandoned passion for dance, she leaps from Paxil into the arms of Carlos and the restorative tropic beat of the Latin-Is-For-Lovers Dance Club. Her story is sensually lush, leavened with subtle, unexpected comedic riffs, and punctuated with turns of narrative as sudden and dramatic as a tango step. To read Ms. Torrey is to discover that prose has found a perfect dancing partner.

Finding One's Father
My father stepped out of my life when I was two, so I long ago made myself believe having or not having a father was unimportant. Then I read He Goes, She Goes and was reminded again of the value of a really good book; how it can open the reader's mind, can allow her (or him) to see and feel things long repressed.

Alice, her sister and her mother must come to terms with losing a father and husband so private, that, in a sense, they never had him. It is a rare writer who can bring to life a character, such as this father -- stiff, unyielding, inhibited -- and evoke sympathy from the reader for both him and those who deserved but never received more from him.

This particular book, for me, allowed me to accept and move beyond. That's the kind of book it is; a book that, through reading it, helps one to deal with one's own loss -- even when you don't know you've lost anything.

Henry Goes West
This book was one of four available to my two year old as we waited in the hospital Emergency Room (she needed two stitches.) After reading all the books once, she wanted to hear "Henry" over and over. We successfully made it through the TWO HOUR wait thanks to this wonderful story.

A good book
My boys love this book. A good book for the preschool/young reader group

Huggly is cute and fun.
This is a great book! Huggly, Booter and Grubble are playing hide-and-go seek. Booter is it. Grubble and Huggly come up from under a bed in the nurse's office in a school. Huggly and Grubber are mistaken for children after they put on people clothes from the lost and found! They have to get back into the monster world but how?
This is a great book! You should read it!

Huggly is awesome!
The first Tedd Arnold book we ever acquired for our daughter was "Parts" - after that, we were hooked! We love that book (hilarious!) and started looking for other stuff by Mr. Arnold. It was then that we discovered Huggly. My four-year-old loves all the Huggly books, and what makes it even better is that we love reading them with her! And wow! You can't beat the price!

Great imaginative children's book
My two and four year old both love this book. One of my favorites. They can really relate to the story and imagine the animals we have seen at the zoo coming to OUR house. The pictures are beautiful.

Wonderful Beautiful Children's Story Book!!
I just loved this book and so did my children. The illustrations are beautiful and colorful, the story is imaginative and fanciful (which is lacking in so many other children's books these days).

This book is a must have for any young child!!!!
