I Want to Grow Hair Hair, I Want to Grow Up and I Want to Go
My son was diagnosed in 1989 at the age of 8 years old with three brain tumors. We were told her would die in surgery and if he did live he would be a vegetable. The doctor was wonderful and he lives and is doing wonderfully! I have been involved deeply with brain tumor suppport now for 11 years. I talk to families at least once a week. This book gives great insight into how the kids feel about their disease and the experience that goes with it. The most important part of this book is the section that the fathter's discuss their feelings. Dads have a very difficult time knowing how to help and "fix" it as they think they must! This chapter is priceless. Good Book, Good Information, Important learning here!

Only Erma Bombeck Could Make It Work
Erma Bombeck became renowned by highlighting the amusing aspects of the terrene. She did not usually make what are typically called "jokes"-just offbeat observations. Her columns more often initiated a satisfying smile than a hearty belly laugh. But even on the occasions that she was painfully funny she showed respect for her subjects and her audience. It was the proud acknowledgement that she was one of us that allowed us to chuckle at family life, grocery shopping, housework, and all the other quotidian errands that compose the bulk of our lives. Regardless of the subject she found some aspect that was good for a "laugh with" not a "laugh at."

How about the subject of children battling cancer? The thought of jocularly treating such a topic sounds comparable to the depraved entertainment regurgitated by the likes of Howard Stern. Surely, Erma Bombeck-the avatar of wholesomeness-would never approach such a subject. No, but it approached her. She was asked to write this book, and at first the thought of it repulsed her. Momentarily dropping her guard, she allowed herself to be talked in to attempting this work. We should all be thankful that she caved. The result is a reverent; inspiring read that has had a propitiatory impact on many, many children and adults battling cancer---not to mention legions of us who are blessed with good health.

Treading with great veneration for her subject, she produced a book overflowing with warmth, encouragement, and-as unbelievable as it may seem-tasteful mirth. It stands a proud addition to her rich legacy.

Wonderful!
Having grown up in an era when "the 'C' word" meant a death sentence, I was taken aback when a friend of mine suggested this little-known work of Erma Bombeck's. Why would a humerous writer tackle such a depressing subject? Kids with cancer? The book was not depressing at all. Sure I cried, but they were tears of joy. I laughed at the antics of some of the kids. I praised the professionals who dedicate their time and money to these kids. Cancer is no longer necessarily a terminal disease. People beat it all the time. I was unaware of this until I read this book, and no one could do it like Erma. I highly recommend this book to anyone, but it is especially uplifting to someone who has a friend or family member with cancer.

Safe Passage - A Lifeline
When my mother was diagnosed with terminal stages of colon cancer, our family was literally innundated with "grief coping" books. Being an avid reader, and desperate for anything to help make sense of the chaos and pain, I read them all. SAFE PASSAGE is the only one I have kept and have recently ordered several to have on hand to share with friends. This book is composed of short meditations that are appropriate for all stages of griefwork. I continue to refer to my copy, some nine months after her death. I find that this is a "living" book, with certain passages speaking exactly what I'm feeling, every time I read it - be it a week after her death or months after. Moreover, it is not specifically geared towards the loss of a parent, spouse, child, etc - my stepfather has found it as wonderful as I have. This book has been a lifeline to our family.

Penetrating and Practical
I do not know Molly Fumia, but I do know the subject of grief. I wrote THE JEWISH WAY IN DEATH AND MOURNING. I have never read so profound and beautiful a work on this subject. I underlined it all, and ordered another clean copy. It is memorable; a work of art, a Divine inspiration.

Very Helpful......
This was one of the first books on Griveing I had bought. It was a Great "pick". The everyday "passages" hit right how I felt. The words were very comforting and like the author was writing this book for me to try to understand all the feelings and the "loss" I was going though. I Highly recommmend this book for a person who is going through a Loss of a Loved one.

An accurate and warm sharing of memories on the river
I read this book and every fishing trip I have ever been on came rushing back. As I read I could feel the weight of the fly vest on my shoulders and smell the campfire. No one other than a down home salmon fisherman could have written this book. While he fished the Mirimichi I fished the Restigouche and once had the privilidge of meeting his Uncle, Richard Adams, on the Matepedia.
I know the beauty of the land and the feeling of a line tighten under a heavy fish, Everything is so real, from the sound of the water and the singing of a reel being stripped of its line down to the irritating buzzing of the bugs. He speaks of the friendships on the river so accurately one knows it is not fiction.
A wonderful read that I tore through and will sit down again to read it again to savour anything I may have missed.
My only regret is there were only 5 stars to give it.

The Baby Who Wouldn't Go to Bed
My neighbor lent this book to me when I was having trouble getting my 2 year old to go to bed and go to sleep with it being light out at bedtime during the summer. She loved the book and would ask for me to read it again every night. It is one of her favorite books. The action words really invite her to get involved in the story. Words like "vrrruuum-chugga-chug", roaring tigers, parading soldiers, resting not racing trains, musicians playing a lullaby, a sighing drowsy moon, and a yawning baby who doesn't want to stay up all night after his adventures. This could be a classic book.

A beautifully illustrated bed-time book.
This is a beautifully illustrated book about a baby who does want to go to bed and so with a "vrruum-chugga-chug" zooms off in his little car awy from "the Mother" - he meets a sleepy tiger, dreaming soldiers, a resting train, and drowsy musicians until his little car itself falls asleep, not even the Moon will play - then he's rescued by the Mother and goes to bed - my little ones love it (and are usually asleep before the end!!)

A much needed clarification of what it means to be holy.
Dr. Michael L. Brown has written a very easy to understand and Biblically based book on a subject that is underemphasized (if not totally ignored) and misuderstood by the majority (in my opinion) in the Christian community. His logic is clear and his Biblical support is without question or argument. I doubt any capable theologian would be able to challenge Dr. Brown on this subject.

By far, chapter 4, "The Fateful End," is the most convicting and heart-searching.

I would also recommend reading Charles G. Finney's views of sanctification in his "Systematic Theology" and J.C. Ryle's, "Holiness."

second to the bible this ones it!
What an awesome book! Straight from Browns own experiences and stories while digging deep into the Truth. I have not read a book so convicting and genuine. This is a must read for all Gods people in todays world, where compromise is the norm. It has help unveil the eyes of my heart to Gods Word, and straightens out all the decieving lies we believe as we try to be set apart in a culture that has given itself up to lust, greed, abuse, drugs, alcohol, smoking, etc. Jesus is coming soon and this book will help prepare you until He comes again.(but His Word should always be the First book we read)God Bless!

Awesome!
Go and Sin no more is without a doubt a awesome, dynamic book! Perfect for anyone who satan has been messing around with you and you'd like to see freedom. Freedom that can only be gained in Christ. This book gives a call of holiness to the church, and is very well one of the best books I've read this year.

Great book!
I'll advise all the people who are in an unhealthy relationship to buy this book. This book will open your eyes and break that pattern of obsessive behavior.

Healing and Moving on...
This book helped me break the Infatuation Cycles I had developed. It is written in a very concise and non-invasive way so as not to offend and make you feel...well...like a deranged and sick person. My behavior was deranged and sick, but after reading this book I made a determined and solid decision to move on AND not look back. I have not repeated my Obsessive Cycle since.

Very helpful
When I first got this book, I was so addicted to a person that I did not realize I was stalking him and invading his privacy. This book deals out some harsh truth in the beginning. At first I felt no sympathy for my painful ordeal and I couldn't read it. I would recommend reading this book after you have explored why you are the way you are and accepted that are obsessed or addicted to a person. Before reading this book, you might want to try How to Break an Addiction to a Person. That book is a little more sympathetic to how you feel and it helps you to understand why you are acting the way you act. Once you come to terms with yourself and your problems, read Obsessive Love. It gives clear concise directions on how to stop obsessing using behavior conditioning. The psychological techniques in this book really work because they do not focus on appealing to your logical mind but to your illogical emotions and thoughts. This book also provides some insight on how you got this way and it helps you to understand how the person you are obsessing over feels. That is important. This is a great book that really helps deal with a sickness appropriately. It is not a quick fix it is not cheesy. It deals you the truth and then tells you exercises to do everyday to help you deal with the pain. It takes work and dedication to make yourself a healthier person but with this book, you can do it.

My daughter loves this book!
This is the first book my daughter (18 months old) will sit down and let me read to her. We read it several times a day, and she will also try to read it to me. I highly recommend this book!

Sleep well
A wonderfully tender story and warmhearted illustrations. What better collaboration for a bedtime story than a daughter and mother?

My Daughter's Favorite
My sister bought this book as a gift for my daughter and it is one of her best purchases ever. My daughter is only one year old but every night she would choose this book for her mother to read to her. The Illustrations are both soft and warm. The rhymes are soothing. As a whole, the book illustrate the closeness and happiness of a family. A excellent book for all ages.

Excellent second book of go
This was the second book I purchased for learning go (the first was Charles Matthew's 'Teach Yourself Go'). For the beginner, Go can be somewhat frustrating to get into. There is a plethora of books that will teach you the basic rules, but these can also be learned from a variety of web sites.

After these, the average beginner knows the rules, but not how to actually play. An opponant will play a stone right next to one of theirs, and they don't know how to respond... do I play above it? or on the other side? do I ignore it and play another hoshi (star point)?

This book teaches the reader about making jumps (how to expand on territory you're claiming or keep from being captured), base extensions (in order to stake out territory), and the basics of ko fights and contact fighting (what happens when stones are played right next to each other). If you've done a bit of playing and problem solving online, I would recommend picking up the next book in this series at the same time. As soon as you finish this book, you'll begin to see more patterns in games and understand that there is more you should be seeing behind the moves. As a result, you will probably want to study the game more, and the next book is really still a mid-level book.

My only complaint about the book would have to be just that. The niche it fills, for the reader who has learned the rules but isn't ready for serious study of go patterns yet, isn't filled unless you have both the second and third book in this series. These probably should have been published as one larger book. That notwithstanding, it's an excellent second (and third) book of Go.

As a side note, while the fourth book in this series is quite interesting, it is not as much of a prerequisite for studying other books, such as the Elementary Go Series, as book II and III.

Best Go Series for Beginning to Intermediate Players
By far the best series of Go books for beginning to intermediate players. So much of success at Go, at least of the recreational player who does not have a huge amount of time to devote the game, hinges on mastering some basic ways of thinking about problems and "stances" that help to identify opportunities avoid pitfalls or common mistakes. This book continues the focus on these elements initiated in Volume I by concentrating on a small number of principles and skills that are the key to doing well at beginning and intermediate Go. This book, like the subsequent volumes in the series is written with the beginner in mind, but should by no means be ignored by even the advanced intermediate player--any player at any level who can truly master and consistently apply the concepts presented in this book will be a stronger.

One Sure Step at a Time
This is the second volume in the Go teaching series authored by Janice Kim and Jeong Soo-hyun. It takes the basic principles laid out in "A Master's Guide to the Ultimate Game" and begins to tie them together into coherent game play. This is no trivial task, as anyone who has struggled through the first few months of Go playing will tell you.

Learning is a habit that a good go player has to have. This short, easy to read volume lays the rest of the framework needed to start the process. The authors start with an introduction to the real task of the game, claiming and achieving territory. This is a more theoretical approach than the 'you need two eyes' approach of volume one, and, for the first time, the player is lead to looking at the whole board and the fine art of moving in a game where nothing moves.

This little bit of theory out of the way, the book turns to the core skills of Go playing - attack, defense, capturing, Ko fighting, hand-to-hand combat, the endgame, and the intricacies of life and death. All of the discussions are good. I give a special tip of the hat for the attention the authors pay to the playing of Ko's. It is one of the marks of beginning players that they avoid these repeating capture attacks like poison. Here the authors give enough attention to this strategy to get anyone past their doubts.

While this volume goes deeper than volume one, it is by no means heavily written or over analytical. Plenty of illustrations and examples, but the chapter tests are gone. There is a final exam though. Almost painlessly, the beginner is eased into having a good basic concept of what Go is about.

Jesus Revisited
Solid as a rock, piercing as a thunderbolt, soothing as anointment oil, inspiring as the scent of a rose, straightforward as an innocent heart - Ted's words reflect his Christ-like character, do make the Lord's teachings very alive and securely point the way for those who want to live by them and make them alive in this age of intense spiritual threats and even greater spiritual opportunities.

Practical spiritual insight.
This is a light read, and easy to understand. The book is set in three sections addressing different aspects of Haggard's plan to " Make it hard for people in your city to go to hell".

Section one is a brief, but interesting look at the work the author has done in Colorado Springs, Co. There is some detail as to the actual church planting up through the growth and health of the New Life church. Some specific and difficult spiritual confrontations are listed here and throughout the book.

Section two contains practical advice on how to implement biblical priciples into reaching the lost of your city and region. This section offers a practical guide to building a relationship with other christian leaders in your area.

The third section gets up close and personal. It was by far the best part of the book. It will cause you to consider your approach to reaching the lost and your personal walk with the Lord. This portion of the book was invasive and will give you opportunity to do some self evaluation. This teaching is important for all of us interested in approaching the Lord's work in the harvest.

We've seen some of these principles working in our town and believe they can work everywhere.

Great insight and practical help
This is one of the finest books that I have read on reaching your community for Christ. There are no flashy bells and whistles that he puts out for the reader, rather, he gets to basics and talks about things that any church can do - prayer, fasting, living a clean life, etc. While sometimes, the calls to action may be slightly simplistic (such as when he says that if you are struggling with a sin, then just don't do it - I mean that sounds nice on paper, but in the real world, you need to power of God to accomplish that), the book is still chock-full of wonderful advice.
If you plan to get only one book to help you and your church reach the lost, then this is a good choice.

FUNNY, BEAUTIFUL PICTURES, PERFECT FOR AGE
My four-year old daughter and I love this book. The strawberry milk in the "barbie-like" cup, the toothpaste, the pajama's - illustrated just for a little girl - all things my daughter loves. Lola's wild imagination and her silliness is so delightful to read at the end of the day. We love it so much we want to share with friends and are buying for birthday gifts.

My kids can't stop asking for it
My 2 and 4 year old love this book and they want me to read it over and over again. They love the pictures and the story and just everything about it. The 2-year-old loves the imaginary tigers, which always seem to bother him when he want to go to bed too.

hip design, fun book
My daughter is 2 1/2 and this book is her favorite. The design is very colorful and interesting, and the dialogue between the characters, Lola and her brother Charlie, is the way real kids talk. Lola doesn't want to go to bed, and it is Charlie's job to get her there. Lola has quite an imagination and Charlie must give bedtime drinks to imaginary tigers, shoo a whale down the drain before Lola can bathe, etc. This book is great for toddlers. Lauren Child's Clarice Bean books are for older kids, but my daughter also loves those too, as does my six year old niece. The best are Clarice Bean, That's Me, and What Planet are you from, Clarice Bean?

I Don't Want to Go to Bed
This book was a easy reading and totally enjoyable. All young readers having a bad time going to bed should read this book. This book is also really great for babysitters to read to thier children, whom they put kids to bed and which this is a really great bed time story book. I personally like this book because of it's beautiful pictures and kids get a kick out of this book.

I don't want to go to Bed
I don't want to go to bed is a great example of a perfect children's story. It has all the elements that are required for a children's story. These are, funny characters, good illistrations, the ability to relate to kids, and teaches them a lesson. It also has some much needed humor. It has all the elements and it isnt long and drug out and boring like many other children's storys. In conclusion, it is a great book and I would recomend it to any kids.

My kids love this book!
I have two young sons who are 3 & 4 years old. Everynight before bedtime, they get to pick out six books for us to read before they get tucked in, and everynight, this book is one they want to hear!

We've gotten into the habit of me pointing at them when it's time and they get to say, "I don't want to go to bed!"

Wonderful book! I highly recommend it to all children! Not only is it a great message, but it allows the youngsters to become involved in the story.
