an innovative way to read the GospelsButler's detailed attention to the physical geography of Israel, its mountains, rugged hillsides and particularly the Sea of Galilee are a metaphor for the life of Jesus and a mirror for our own inner journey. This is the fifth gospel, which opens up the meaning of the four gospels in a way we have not known them. It is an innovative tool for exploring the Gospels.
In this fifth gospel approach, the author frames a number of significant events in the life of Jesus, the Easter Event, Sermon on the Mount, Transfiguration, offers insightful reflection on them and helps the reader draw out meaning for daily life. There are meditations and prayers at the end of each chapter that invite further reflection.
The author clearly has a love of scripture and a desire to explore the meaning of the Gospels in mind. She does this in a very "user-friendly" fashion that makes the book's real scholarship very accessible to folks who would shy away from other attempts.
Retreat centers should find it very useful and would be wise to make it available to its retreatants. The author's background in retreat ministry gives it a credibility that would encourage use for a small group discussion or at-home retreat.

Go To Hell"Go To Hell" is about just such a journey written from a man's point of view. Author Robert Curtin has no shame, no regard, no social structure to bind him, so anything "goes" and it flies! Read about how "Rock and Roll Ruined My Life," just one of the incidents any '60's/70's hip and hippie might affiliate with.
If you want to "die laughing," be prepared to do so, as this journey takes you on a trip to change your mind, if you dare! Do you dare? Then get the book!

Interwoven story-poemsI liked the acknowledgement of what a challenge it is to deal with total strangers, and how they come into your life, and you get to know some things about them, and then they are gone.
I liked the sharing of the sense of fraud coexisting with the actual skills to be the adjunct professor.
I loaned this book of poems to a friend who teaches. She smiled and said she liked the book too.

Go To It! - An excellent pictorial history of 6 AB Div1 Canadian Parachute Battalion, which is my special interest, was in 3 Parachute Brigade of 6 Airborne Division.
The 6th Airborne Division went into battle on D-Day, June 5/6 1944 on the far left flank of the invasion. They captured what became known as Pegasus Bridge and Merville Battery. They then held their positions against German counter-attacks. The Commandos who landed by sea eventually linked up with the airborne.
They next went into battle Dec. 1944 in the Battle of the Bulge as they were rushed over by sea and land to help stop the german breakthrough of the American lines in the Ardennes in Belgium.
In March 1945 they parachuted into Germany on Operation Varsity (with US airborne troops alongside them) and then force their way in a long march across Germany to Wismar, where they met and stopped the Soviet advance.
They were NOT at Arnhem - that was 1 AB Division, but the equipment and markings on vehicles was identical.
LOTS of wonderful photos showing jeeps, gliders, 75 mm pack howitzers etc.
I always admired this book in a friend's collection and finally in 2002 I went and acquired it through Amazon.com. It was worth the price.
I have been a long time collector and researcher involved in studying this airborne history, and I had friends who served in the 6 AB Division in WWII. One of them. Pte. Cliff Douglas, 1 CPB, even shows up in one of the photos in the book!

Great bedtime story
