Well written with real life examples
I've read a lot of business books by Harvey Mackay, Harry Beckwith, Pat Williams and others and this books definitely makes the top 10%. McDonnell writes in an easy to read manner and offers succint reviews at the end of each chapter.

While the author is often the "hero" of many of the insightful real life situations the reader does not get the sense that the author is just patting himself on the back, in fact McDonnell points out the occassions where his successors came in and applied the same 6 Step principles to correct his errors.

If you are looking for a book with myriad nuggets you can put into practice on a daily basis this book is for you. Enjoy!

YES! U-CAN HAVE IT ALL...Healthy/Well-Balanced Lifestyle
"Fat Chance At Last!...How to Go Beyond Willpower" is a chance-of-a-lifetime available to readers for a Healthy, Well-Balanced, Have-It-All Lifestyle!

In today's healthcare quagmire it is exciting to find a book that truly puts together so much practical, usable information, and provides so many logical insights into balancing the body for optimum health. Although the primary message in "Fat Chance At Last!..." is toward weight control, it becomes apparent that weight control falls naturally in place when the body is balanced. The escalating costs of health care and the uncertainty of mixed messages from special reports certainly have created the desire in every individual to responsibly take charge of one's own health with the best "assurance" available. "Fat Chance At Last..." will be a book that one will value and use as a reference book for years to come.

Eileen Silva, a nationally known Metabolic Specialist, has created "Fat Chance At Last!..." a book unique for its ability to successfully incorporate a variety of disciplines for the educational edification of the reader. In very down-to-earth terms Ms. Silva takes the reader by the hand and reveals why individuals may suffer from: a Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde personality; obesity and weight gain; afternoon fatigue; gas, bloating, bowel irregularities; headaches, joint or muscle aches; addictive behaviors and premature aging, to name a few.

Just reading the Table of Contents will excite the reader of all the potentialities in the book. From the first chapter (which includes a Body Fitness Profile for personal application) to the last (a summation of HOW YOU CAN HAVE IT ALL) the reader will be amazed at how quickly one becomes fascinated by the explanations of how and why the body may react with certain foods, emotions, parasites, stress and more. Through- out the book there are easy-to-read instructional / informational charts and illustrations. Formulas and protocol for creating and maintaining a healthy, balanced body show how it can be done.

This is a book that could be picked up at any time and read randomly for specific topics. However, it will soon become apparent that one may be missing something important, written in a previous chapter. To save time, start at the beginning. The insights absorbed will become one's own "inner" knowledge. "Fat Chance..." is liberally laced with humor, philosophies and plenty of "aha's". The information gained can be put to use immediately. It's a page-turning, easy read!

The case histories and research in this book add to the book's value for "aware" medical practitioners, as well as the intelligent lay-person and fitness counselor. "Fat Chance At Last!..." is endorsed by a stellar group "Who's Who" of Doctors and Fitness Professionals. Eileen Silva refers to her book as "User Friendly". It is indeed that and more; it is an "essential" book for your library. If you have been in search of a natural, drug-free way to better health, here it is...At Last!: "Fat Chance At Last!..." by Eileen Silva

Very good book on breast health
The book gives advise on healthy lifestyle factors that may reduce the risk of cancer. New and better methods of breast self-exam are taught along with step-by-step pictures. The book describes breast changes to look for and when to see a doctor. A listing of medications that may cause breast changes is included. There is a very good explanation of different types of breast abnormalities. The book also has a good discussion of diagnostic and surgical procedures. The book is easy to follow and understand, and it has a glossary of medical terms used ib breast care.

A very good Famous Five adventure
This is another fabulous book in the Famous Five series. The famous five are Julian, Dick, Anne, George(actually Georgiana but she hates being a girl) and their dog Timmy. Like other famous five adventures, this one starts with the children enjoying their vacation where they subsequently fall into an adventure and finally end up rescuing a couple of kidnapped pilots. The plot is simple enough but then provides ample excitement. Just like all the other Enid Blyton adventure books, this one is a real treat to read. There is no doubt that Enid Blyton is(was; unfortunately, she died) one of the best authors for children's books. What makes her books ideal for children? The kids are happy because of the plots and the variety(Enid Blyton created numerous characters ranging from goblins and elves to children). It is wonderful world of make believe where one book is not sufficient but several are needed to quench the thirst. The parents are happy because the books contain no bad content. Even though the stories sound a little make believe, they are based on sound values and principles. They establish a code for behavior. I remember reading Enid Blyton books as a child and understanding all about good behavior(polite answers to adults, being good and helpful to other people, being kind to animals, being responsible etc). The content of most Enid Blyton stories is also pure unlike of the fairytales by Hans Christian Anderson and Brothers Grimm that can be depressing and even violent sometimes. The famous five do fall into adventures. However, they do come out of them without scaring the young readers to glory. The famous five behave well, especially Julian, the eldest who is known for his polite behavior and charming manners. Truly, Enid Blyton has managed to capture images of childhood that are slowing becoming memories. In these days of Nintendo and other computer games, her books come as a refreshing change. A piece of old world charm in a modern society. A must read for all generations who wish to go beyond the mere computer game and disney story.

A Good Textbook For ESL Students
I like this textbook because it is quite different from other textbooks for ESL students. This textbook is full of cultural information. In each chapter there is a story that is written in first-person form, like "When I first came to the United States, ...". I find this style very good because students will be really involved in it. The author of this book really knows how ESL students will feel in various situations.

The story itself is interesting as well as instructive. After the story, there are some questions about its main idea and details. Also, there are multiple choice questions concerning the story. Next, some questions are presented for students to discuss. In the end, some vocabulary and grammar exercise.

If you are an ESL teacher, you will surely feel inclined to use it at your class. At all events you must buy this one. There is no alternative to this.

Valuable Resource
We live within a couple of hours from D.C., and find this to be a wonderful resource. I would recommend it to people who live nearby and are looking for a fun family outing for the day or weekend.

Descriptions of landmarks are accurate and up-to-date. Directions give street addresses and nearest sbuway station. A city map is needed since no directions are given from the station to the landmarks.

For families spending less than a week in D.C., I would recommend purchasing a more detailed Frommers or Fodors guide since they offer more bang for your buck. This book only lists attractions. For restaurants (besides Hard Rock) and hotels, you will need another guide.

Great Book for Self-Publishers!
I found the personal stories from authors interesting, however the real value of this book is in the details in the second half. The step-by-step self-publishing process is presented as bullet points, easy to read and features info on editiing, book cover design, manuscript preparation, promotion and lots of contact info. Beginners will love the glossary that compliments each topic.

Missionology 101 and then some
GO and Make Disciples is a must read for any existing or potential missionary. The facts, figures and how-to sections were more than informative. This book provides not only the basics of missionology but leads you to the next steps for anyone feeling the call of God.

The Biblical basis of missions and why some people are called to be missionaries is at the very foundation of missionary service. This foundation shows what God has in store for the missionary as well as the people he will be serving. Throughout the pages, one will clearly see that foundation and why it is so important. The text also shows what to expect on the field by providing examples from such great missionaries as Jesus and the Apostle Paul. As the reader peruses the pages, not only does the Biblical basis for becoming a missionary become clear, but also the issues that one could possibly face on the mission field, including interaction with religions other than Christianity.

The Trinity of God the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit echo in each part of a missionary's mind, body and spirit throughout the entire book. Whether the reader is a potential candidate for mission work or a veteran missionary, this book will provide insight and practicality. Because it was so full of useful information and was the first book of this type that I have read, I felt I needed to read it a second time to make sure I did not miss anything important. I highly recommend this book to anyone considering mission work.
