The Mad Family Gets Their Mads Out, June 18, 2001
I found Lynne Namka's book to be a delightful and useful addition to my counseling library. I will use it in working with children, who are struggling to express their anger in constructive and healthy ways. Also, I am sure it will be useful in helping families learn how to deal with anger in non-violent ways, and to keep focused on how to relate to each member positively. The charts at the back can assist parents to help their children. As well, these and the whole approach presented could be useful to those who work with children - counselors, teachers, etc. In my view, this is definitely an excellent book to add to one's resources in working with children.

The Mad Family Gets Their Mads Out
I was pleased with Lynne Namka's book. I will use it when working with children in counseling and recommend it to parents. It's message can be used with four or five year olds though pre-teens and parents. Especially in todays society with all the violence we need an easily understandable book to help children and families learn techniques to identify and handle their anger. The check lists are helpful reminders of the lessons of the book. The additional resources in the back of the book could be of benefit to parents, teachers or counselors.

Got to be the best
This has to be the best poetry book ever written for kids. Micael Rosen tells funny tails about his baby and other things. Some poems are deep and delve into the world of the poorer English society, whereas others are just plain silly and make you laugh unstoppably.

the best children's poetry book ever written
I cannot believe that no one has reviewed this book before, and am stunned and saddened that it is now out of print! It's fantastic - I discovered it at the age of eight, and it is a book I regularly read aloud and have bought for children I know. The poems are funny, witty, and touch on subjects familiar to most children (stealing chocolate cake from the pantry in the middle of the night for example, or being caught jumping on the furniture!). This book can be either a family read or a private one - it's hilarious both ways. Whatever age you are, DO read it - I can't recommend it highly enough.

Still a great book!
I guess after two years mine is still the only review?

ANYONE else read this book? Have ANY thoughts about it?

I still think that it's one of the best, most honest books written for young adults about the topic of sex.

Bring This Book Back! Today's Kids Need It!
I searched and searched used bookstores online and off until I found a copy of this book that I could buy to give to my daughter when she reaches her adolesence. This book was writter by a father to his daughter and it says all the things I would like to say to my daughter when the time come but probably won't be able to as well as the author does.

It's one of the best and most frank books on sexuality ever written. Most books talk about the mechanics of sex, this book talks about what sex *feels* like both physically and emotionally. This book probably would not be considered PC today because it says, "hey, if you have sex that's okay, people do it, and so HERE IS WHAT TO EXPECT, and HERE'S HOW TO *ENJOY* IT". Most books for kids on sex don't talk about what it's REALLY like, and certainly don't explain to kids how they can enjoy sex. Most kids and young adults go into their first sexual experience awkardly and not knowing how to make it enjoyable and pleasurable. It's a great book for both sexes, but as a book written from father to daugther it speaks to girls especially.

I bought this for my daughter because most women I know, when they talk about their first sexual experiences will remember that it was painfull and uncomfortable and embarassing and that not only did they not enjoy it but for many women it was so "horrible" that they were almost scared away from sex for ever. Our society doesn't feel it's necessary to teach kids how to REALLY have sex - other than the basic mechanics - insert part A into slot B - and heaven forbid that most parents would teach their kids how to actually enjoy and - as the title of the book says - "get the most out of it". I would really like my kids to wait till they are married to have sex, but realistically it's probably not going to happen that way and so when they do have it I at least want them to know what to expect and what to do to make it a good experience for them and not just for - if they are girls - their boyfriends.

I just had another baby girl and so now I guess I will have to hunt done yet ANOTHER copy of this book to give to my second daughter when she becomes a young woman...I'm still trying to find a second copy for my son, born two years ago...bring back this book! There is nothing like it in print today and it's an important and valuable book for any kid exploring their sexuality for the first time. It's sure beats learning about sex in the locker room, or by trial and error in the back seat of some guy's car...

The author's other books on teaching sexuality to children "Where Did I Come From?" and "What's Happening To My Body" are classics, and two of the most popular book on this subject out there. Parents have relied on these books for decades. This book completes the trilogy but unfortunately is no longer available - indeed it and all mention of it have disappeared from the face of the Earth. That is a travesty. This book is important, and no concerned parent's or teacher's bookshelf is complete without it! BRING IT BACK!

101 Ways to Get Your Adult Children to Move Out

Sure-fire advice for clearing the house of offspring!
Rich Melheim was a pastor at my church. My parents bought me this book (I have a signed copy!) and I took the hint! I haven't moved back home since... The illustrations are campy and humorous, the sugestions border on and often exceed the ludicrous, however these snippets of wisdom are a guaranteed recipe for success when it comes to ousting offspring that have over stayed their welcome (i.e. they now make more money than you). The advice also works well on house guest. One word of cautions: excercising the most extreme of these measures may result in extensive and costly therapy for your children!

A must for anyone coping with Alzheimer's
I first became aware of this book when it was published on a smale scale for people that the authors and their colleagues encountered in their clinical work at an Alzheimer's center in New York City. I urged the authors to share this important book with a wider audeince and I am most pleased that they have done so with the publication of this paperback.

Health care for persons with Alzheimer's disease is a two-edged sword. If there is a coexisting medical condition, there is potential for great good or great harm at the hands of medical practitioners. The authors offer loads of advice about how to ensure that good is done and harm is avoided. This is a guide book that should be read once and then kept close at hand, in case of an acute illness or some other unforseen condition that requires medical attention. Mary Mitteman and Cynthia Epstein are to be commended for helping individuals and families navigate their way through the increasing complex health care maze.

easy to read practical insight into human nature & response
An excellent book that I couldn't put down. It prompted me to search for my own copy and others like it because it opens up a whole new side of life for me.

I'm like most people who just live life without a clue to the con games arround me. But this book gives excellent insight into why some people can always get what they want.

Most importantly it shows what emotional strings the con men are pulling so you can watch out. very colorful and fun to read. Non-technical and very practical.

If you've never read a book like this I recomend that you start now.

Great Thought Provoking Reading!
Jack Meiland really wrote a wonderful book with "College Thinking"; he makes his many good points all of which make will keep you thinking for days, and make you really want to get more out of your college experience.

The highlight of the book is Chapter 2, The Difference Between High School and College, something everyone should know. Meiland writes that "The whole project of college teaching and research - indeed, the whole project of the modern mind - is to base belief only on good reasons." and that "Basing beliefs on good reasons helps to make us the persons that we want to be and to produce the type of society in which we want to live."

Important facts and thought provoking questions! Highly recommended!
