If you take this books advice your in for a rough ride!!!
This book has changed my life for the better, however it was not easy. This book is about how to get manipulators out of your life and start living your own. After reading this book me and my wife had to change Churches, (we were #1 on the churches volunteer list) my wife had to change her job and I had to change my business practices. This has resulted in several law suits (Some in my favor). If there are manipulators in your life and they have been manipulating you for years, the manipulators will not let go of you so easily after all you are there free meal ticket. The good side is we were able to move from a small 3 bedroom apartment to a 2700 square foot home just 6 weeks after reading the book. Me and my wife have doubled are income as a result of reading this book. Before my wife was working for a manipulator that was having her work 60 hours a week including the weekends. Now my wife got a new job working on an hourly wage making $5 more an hour, she's still work 60 hours a week except she gets paid time and a half for overtime!!! This is a great book if you want to change you life keep in mind it won't be easy you will possibly have to change friends, change your job, and put restraining orders against some manipulators (some won't take no for an answer.)

An engaging, invigorating read
Whether you are an avid theater-goer, a Shakespeare fan, a playwright (or wanna be), Simon's experience and insight will engage your mind and offer new perspectives on how drama works - interactions back and forth between writer and audience, by way of live actors. Fascinating thinking about many ways that the theater experience is different than that of the big or small screens.
As a result, Simon has penetrating insights for authors working in ANY medium - and for all students of human behavior and relationships. To top it off, his personable, comfortable writing style makes the reader right at home -- like speaking with a companion (albeit a highly seasoned one) along for an entire theater evening.
In the course of the book, Simon helps the reader understand better why great theater grips (and moves and aggravates and CHANGES) us: drawing from Shakespeare, Chekov, Stoppard, Translations... and even back to Oedipus. Just about anyone in any stage of theater experience will benefit from Simon's grasp of the dynamic part that is played in theater by YOU. I'll be rereading this little volume numerous times to reflect on why and how these masterpieces work their wonders on me.

Best Book on Theatre I've Ever Read
The writing is simple, candid and congenial -- the insights are extraordinary. Mayo Simon has explained how theatre works, and in doing so, articulates in fascinating detail all the intuitive feelings you may have had when going to a play. Understanding how theatre works is no small thing, and this book stands alongside Aristotle's Poetics in getting the job done... only THE AUDIENCE & THE PLAYWRIGHT is infinitely more engaging and entertaining. Mr. Simon weaves his perspective as if he's guiding you through an evening at the theatre, and illuminates his insights with dozens of examples from contemporary stage experiences. This book is a must read for anyone who loves theatre, likes theatre or just wants to know more. It would also be great for college and high school literature and theatre classes, indispensible to writers and playwights, and a fabulous addition to the bookstores and premium offerings of regional theatres around the world.

Bailing Out: The Healthy Way to Get Out...
This is an outstanding book for anyone who is even THINKING about leaving their relationship, and is at least as good as TOO GOOD TO LEAVE, TOO BAD TO STAY. I wish I had had this information sooner, but definitely better late than never. They offer excellent advice about how to prevent repeat this tragedy of ill-chosen people for mates. I personally hate leaving, hate saying good-bye, and have a strong need to take responsibility for what is happening in my relationships by owning my part and doing what I can to improve the relationship. However, perhaps I've done this TOO much with the wrong people, and I've paid for this. Extremely healthy people may be hard to find, but aren't they worth waiting for, and in the meantime I have more to give myself when I ensure that all of my associates and intimates are healthy and nurture me. I think I'm way more likely to get what I want out of life and relationships when I choose wisely in this manner.

Go ahead with self respect and with autosteem
Best book to have a good way to go out from bad relationships, is like you have a personal doctor with your personal treatment, help you to find out your own solutions and motivate you to go ahead loving yourself, and helping you to understand a better way to love, to live, to breath, to be happy, please give you a chance to recover your integrity, your phisical and emotional health...

Great Reading! So timely!
This book just hit the spot for me. What is so great about this book is that it gives you the tools which will lead you to ultimate acceptance and freedom...from your toxic relationship.

The authors were quite candid that it takes (cognitive-behavioral) work to heal yourself and that it takes more than overnight.

I strongly recommend this book to anyone who is grappling with a not so perfect relationship. Frankly, I couldn't put the book down IT WAS THAT GOOD.

Bailing Out: The Sane Way to Get Out of a Doomed Relationshi
This book was very helpful in the termination of my marriage. Both I and my ex-husband read the book, which made the transition so much easier. I have since purchased this book for my mom, my two daughters, my son, and myself a few times, because I keep loaning it out to co-workers, and they want to keep it. I highly recommend it to anyone who is in a bad relationship and doesn't know how to get out.

Breaking Free of the Shame Trap: How Women Get Into It, How Women Get Out of It

This Book Is Relevant to Men as Well
As a man, I found this book to be very relevant to shame issues personally and "societally." It also helped me to better understand my wife's issues with shame, particularly those that society seemingly arbitrarily assigns to women in general. Evans covers this topic comprehensively with a lot of food for thought. I have read some of Bradshaw's work on this and found this book almost entirely compatible with his thinking but even deeper in coverage.

A very liberating book.
This book takes shame out of the closet so we can hold it up and take a good look at it. It shows us how unrecognized shame has been making us feel bad and sabotaging our relationships. Most helpful for me were the messages that there is nothing innately wrong with us, and that recognizing and dealing with our shame can restore self-esteem and well-being. Only a few pages into this practical and compassionate book, I knew I was reading something that could help millions of women.

The e-Auction Insider: How to Get the Most Out of Your Online Experience
Published in Paperback by McGraw-Hill Osborne Media (14 June, 2000)
Authors: Dave Taylor and Susan M. Cooney
Amazon base price: $8.48
List price: $16.99 (that's 50% off!)
Used price: $12.95
While it doesn't share any real inside information about Internet auction sites, such as might be gleaned from the leader of such a site, The e-Auction Insider has a lot to say about buying and selling online. Authors Dave Taylor and Susan M. Cooney (Taylor runs iTrack.com, the auction-monitoring site) give advice on getting the best price for an item that you're selling and dealing with shark-like, last-second bidders--also known as snipers--when you're buying. They also detail how to contact the other parties in your transactions and the proper use of escrow services. Although a sizable section is devoted to each of the main general-interest auction sites--eBay, Amazon.com, and Yahoo! Auctions--the emphasis falls solidly on eBay. Readers might wish for more coverage of variants on the auction theme, such as Priceline.com.

The book concludes with a directory of general- and special-interest auction sites that includes everything from Robynsegg.com (stickers, rubber stamps, and other scrapbook goods) to RockAuction.com (guitars, amplifiers, lighting equipment, and so on). It describes each site--with more substance than you usually find in directories of sites--and reports on registration rules, as well as any fees that apply to buyers or sellers. Some of what this book contains is common sense, but a lot of it will prove new and worthwhile to many readers. --David Wall

Topics covered: Buying and selling, safely and profitably, on Internet auction sites. How to list items; search for auctions; bid; monitor bid competitions; use escrow services to reduce your chance of being defrauded; and the specifics of auctions on eBay, Amazon.com, and Yahoo! Auctions.

Average review score:

Best e-auction book out there!
Marvelous book - well written and takes all the fear out of going online to buy and sell at various e-auctions. Great book for beginners - it takes you through an auction step by step. For experienced folks it has great hints to increase your chances at winning auctions, plus a very good section on how to write descriptions of sale items to install confidence in buyers and get bids. Recommend this book to all Ebayers and other internet auction-goers.

Answers to my online auction buying and selling questions
This book not only tells how ebay functions, it also describes and rates a number of other auctions sites I didn't know existed. It explains all about buying and selling. Definitely a necessity for anyone thinking of selling on the net which seems more difficult to me than buying online. The book also has useful 'insider tips' boxed on the pages for added help. It also has figures showing how the actual online pages appear for various auction functions. If there is a comparable book available, I'm not aware of it. Well organized and most useful.

George Barna knows What's Up.
The Barna Research Group is world-renowned for its research and studies on Christian organizations, religious, secular and cultural trends, and organizational behavior.

I wanted a bare knuckle, no-nonsense practical book on leadership I could put to use with my management team, my sales people, and my ministry groups. This was it.

Barna describes four types of leaders: directing, strategic, team-building, and operational. The first thing I did was find myself in the mix, naturally. His insights are clear and very perceptive. Then I evaluated my managers. His insights into each style's nature, strengths, and growth opportunities were invaluable; especially as a mirror on myself and how I tend to interact with others.

He then sent me into my mission and vision statements for the organization and examine those in light of God's vision for me, my business, and His will. The time I have spent reflecting on this portion of the book and clarifying our objectives in light of God's plans, will certainly the business and my life.

A terrific book and a must-have for every organizational leader, father, and fellow traveller on the Christian journey.

An excellent book on leadership, but not management,
This book is well worth the reading. Barna presents some good ideas about leadership, based on his experience. He presents his own theories about what makes a leader and the issues facing a leader.

His book is well worth studying. The book should be included in any course on leadership, secular or not. He make a good argument that leader are called to the task. I disagree with his premise that leadership can't really be taught. Christians in leadership roles need to read this book, and ponder the difficult questions he asks at the end of many chapters.

Get Out of Bed

Zzzzzzz....
Amy the nightowl stayed awake to watch the Late Show. Then the Late, Late Show. Then the Late, Late, Late Show. THEN she watched the Early, Early, Early, Early Show. FINALLY, she went to bed.

You can imagine the consequences of this: she couldn't wake up the next day. Her family tries to wake her up (her brother even blows her hair off her face with the volume of his voice), but to no avail. What to do?? Brother has to go to school & mom and dad have to go to work, she can't stay home! So, they take her to school in her bed!

Now the fun REALLY begins!! Her teacher can't get her to wake up, no matter how loudly she bellows. She doesn't wake up through gym. She doesn't wake up through lunch. She doesn't even wake up through recess!! Finally, she's carted off back home in her bed where she sleeps through the night.

You can imagine what happens when she comes to school the NEXT day!!

Robert Munsch has written over 20 books, including the very popular "Love You Forever". His fun, fast-paced style will hold readers' interest as well as the bright, fun illustrations by Alan & Lea Daniel, the husband and wife team who have illustrated other works by Munsch.

The illustrations will rope readers in as quickly as the story when they see the teacher teaching reading in Amy's bed (the students hold a copy of "Get Out of Bed!" themselves, creating a fun reflection-in-the-mirror effect that sharp-eyed readers will love), Amy's nose being painted during art class, and the wonderful paintings of Amy's teacher trying to WAKE THAT GIRL UP!!

For any child who is a night owl (or, at least not an early bird) this book is a must.

Get Out of Bed kept us laughing during storytime for weeks!
This book was a hit at my house. My boy wanted it read every other night for weeks. It was funny and showed silly consequences of not going to bed. Kids won't want to end up like this child and at school in there bed!

Puts the last piece of the puzzle of my life in place.
I have obtained and read a copy of your book. You have saved my sanity. In 1977 I read "The New Immortality and Nothing Dies" by John W. Dunn. He calls God the Universal mind. Your Christian perspective has saved my idea of God. Thank you for putting the last piece of the puzzle of my life in place.

A must for all readers - Soul Searching, Greater Reality.
Can our reality be sustained after mortal life has been lifted from our biological body? Interesting concept! "How To Get Out Of This World Alive", written by J. Hodgkiss Struthers, takes us on a bewildering, but educational train ride as he presents his research on the past, present, and future of human existence. I am in the medical profession, therefore, I have a strong background in Natural Sciences. The author successfully gives the reader a broad perspective of not only scientific facts, but he also demonstrates a strong connection between religious history and human existence as we see it today. In addition, Struthers presents personal experiences which enables the audience to grasp ideas and form constructs. The author has cleverly provided a section called the Caboose, located at the end of the book, which provides the reader additional information on subject matter presented in the main body of the book.
