I highly recommend Dr. Rick's style of relationship counseling !

Powerful!!
I've read a few books on dating and building and maintaining relationships and this one truly stands out! Not only does it cover building gay and lesbian partnerships, but also having healthy relationships with friends, family, coworkers, and yourself! There's no snippy banter or feckless chitchat, just honest, useful, valuable information based on the author's 15-plus years experience as a counselor and therapist. This book is packed with practical, thought-provoking information that guides you on a journey in a warm, sincere, gentle style.

A fair and objective read for leaders and faith-based orgs.
A Revolution of Compassion is a fair and objective look at the relationship between the faith-based community and government. I found the interviews with government, corporate, social and faith-based leaders to be insightful, while representing both sides of the issue of seperation of church and state. The reader will gain a helpful historical perspective of the history of this current hot-button along with where we stand today on this unresolved issue. More specific ideas as to what initiatives might be taken in local communities would add a necessary component to the book. However, the insight gained is more than useful

A Revolution of Compassion - Inspiring
This is a very good book and definately worth reading. David Donaldson's personal account of his early life is an inspiring account that leads to an obvious logical conclusion; We must encourage and support the church to continue one of its prime directives, to feed the hungry, give to the poor, etc.. The current effort of acknowledging and encouraging the church to not abandon its efforts to the "professionals" is laudible.

a good read and a good perspective
The authors of this book have done an excellent job giving vision and information to any corporation, nonprofit, public agency or faith-based ministry who wants to make a difference in their community. The best way, the authors argue, is to work together.

Filled with interviews with top leaders in all sectors, this book both inspires a new way of thinking and provides a road map for accomplishing it. Highly recommended for all those who want encouragement for their existing efforts, who wish that they could do more, or for anyone who would like to see our communities renewed.

A favorite!
This is without a doubt my favorite writing/reference book. If I was on a desert island with just one writing book, this one would be it (and I have 2 copies). The many lists on a wide variety of genres makes it a perfect brainstorming tool you can use over and over for fiction or scripts.

Finally! A book that delivers!
I love this book! If you write ANY type of fiction, this is a great tool to have for those days slow days infront of a blank screen.

A compendium of quick and easy "things to do"
In The Writer's Partner: 1001 Breakthrough Ideas To Stimulate Your Imagination, television script writer Martin Roth draws upon his many years of experience and expertise to present a compendium of quick and easy "things to do" to get started with a writing project, or embellish one already underway. From ideas for character development and plotting, this invaluable resource goes on to address genre categories including science fiction, horror, romance, comedy, sports, crime, westerns, and more. A truly "user friendly" text is further enhanced with appendices on "Web Wordage"; "National Hockey League Teams"; and "Additional Sports League Official Offices". The Writer's Partner is a valuable and practical addition to any writer's reference shelf.

Thoughtful, research-based design for inquiry science
Every science teacher should read this book! The thought, research, and insight the developers put into the new designs for learning science are wonderful. They listened to students, observed how students made sense of the world around them, and adjusted the technology and learning strategies to connect science to everyday happenings in the lives of students. This book also tells the story of how partnerships between higher education, K-12, and field science organizations can bring relevance and meaning to the teaching and learning of science in our schools. Terrific Book!

Teacher review
From my role as a science teacher, it is encouraging to have a book which is informed by years of classroom research. My experience with the Computer as Learning Partnership project has greatly changed my understanding of how kids learn and what it takes to change the way they perceive the world around them. This book provides a pedagogical framework that has worked very successfully over several years and narrows the gap between academic research and classroom practice. I hope that my responses to the "Ask Mr. K." questions will be useful to teachers in reflecting on their own practices.

Invaluable for NEW LIBRARIANS
As a student in a Master's of Information and Library Science program I can appreciate the value of this book to any librarian. The information is relevent and applicable in any library setting. Whether you are a veteran or a greenhorn, you will find this book thoughtful and useful.

How does your library media program measure up?
This is an excellent resource for library media specialists, building and district-wide administrators. For veteran library media specialists, the book provides information on current practices and evaluation methods. Library media specilaists entering the field will find a wealth of information on programs that are successful as well as the methods necessary to implement programs and policies in their own facilities. Building and district administrtors can use this volume as a guidebook when developng and/or rejuvenating library media programs. The book is particularly strong on the issue of staff development. The anecdotal examples are from all kinds of library media programs across the country. There is an excellent index. The bibliography is current and provides many useful resources that can be consulted when developing a comprehensive program. If you are adding one book to your professional collection this year, Curriculum Partner should be the one.

Great Life, Excellent research and writing
After all that's been written about Lafayette, this book was a complete surprise. It added much to read of his wife's devotion and abilities and their lifelong relationship. It also places them in history, and by reading their letters, you are introduced to them directly. This book is not only entertaining but scholarly. Should be in every college library.

Adrienne Lafayette her Husband's Equal
After reading both Unger and Kramer on the astounding life of General Lafayette, I was very curious about his wife. This book of letters and history concerning her life of privilege and partnership is a complement to what most people know about her famous husband. Both the American and French Revolutions were pivotal in their life together of sharing their wealth to the very end. Adrienne generously gave the peasants working her land the best circumstances of the day, while Lafayette at age 18 bought and outfitted a ship to help the colonies win freedom. Three daughters and a son were born while the General was going back and forth across the Atlantic to muster more help from the French for the new nation. Their only son was named George Washington Lafayette and he escaped being imprisoned due to his mother's clever arrangement. Before she joined her husband in prison voluntarily, she snuck her son out of France to be raised for several years by Martha and George Washington. Lafayette's two daughters also joined their father in prison. When Lafayette was not allowed to enter France, his wife pursued their family interests in war torn Paris and environs. She regained La Grange for Lafayette's retirement. He survived Adrienne by almost 30 years at this lovely chateaux and never remarried. She died at 50 due to her illness contracted at the prison where she decided to join her beloved husband. Many relatives were guillotined, so Adrienne arranged their burial site at Picpus Cemetery to be close to the thousands dumped in a mass grave. An American flag flys over their grave for they were both truely "Partners in Liberty's Cause." Lafayette took a triumphal tour of all the United States and returned to France with American soil to spread over their graves. Both equal partners and generous souls.

"Partners" a must read!
I am a legally blind former Dairy Herdsnam. I was enthralled by the stories in this book, and grateful for the info given about the different guide dog schools. It helped make my choice of which school to apply for a dog easier. I think this book should be required reading for anyone entereing the special needs/education professions!

A marvelous study of the assistance dog movement.
As someone who suffers from a disability (epilepsy), it was a pleasure to learn that not only wasn't I alone, but that my seizure alert dog is part of a greater whole. The assistance dog movement is growing and through this book more people will learn of its benefits.

Partners or Competitors?

Brilliant and Deep Exploration of the Subject
In deft strokes, "Partners or Competitors" sets the stage with both Europe and America vying with each for a piece of the trade prize which is Asia. Although there is a history of competition between the U.S. and the EU, the economic downturn in Asia made both aware that they were in the same boat, in that both were going to suffer substantial losses due to debt that is unlikely to be repaid.

The competitive systems of the EU and the U.S. are similar, which creates a concomitant desire for similar outcomes in trade negotiations with Asian countries. The mutual interests between the EU and the U.S., especially in light of an Asian economic downturn, would seem to compel cooperation on trade issues and, perhaps, shared economic pressure on Asia to comply. However, there are enormous barriers to cooperation--some of which are inherent in the structure of the trade organizations currently used to negotiate international trade agreements.

The editors have put together an impressive array of contributors who, together, have written a careful exploration of the prospects for Asian trade liberalization along with the barriers to U.S./EU cooperation. Some of it is descriptive, some of it is prescriptive, all of it is brilliant.

This book is an absolute must for anyone interested in international trade negotiations, European/U.S. cooperation to affect trade policy, and the application of political power to open foreign markets.

Bravo.

Absolutely Brilliant!
This is now require reading for all of my students

Partners.com: How to Profit from the New DNA of Business

Michael Cunningham believes online alliances are one of the most effective tools for developing the power and leverage needed to prosper in today's business world. An avid practitioner of such arrangements in his own Harvard Computing Group consulting firm, Cunningham presents a strong argument for these affiliations, along with a comprehensive guide to their creation in Partners.com. "Today, it is no longer possible for firms to do it all alone," he writes. "Whether it is hardware for a computer system, a hosting service to provide e-commerce capabilities, or a distribution partner that will sell and service products, partners are essential." Showing precisely why these associations are particularly potent in areas like sales, finance, and distribution, Cunningham details the steps involved in their formation and implementation, beginning with the partnership he considers most essential: the one that must be forged between organizations and their employees before any of these others can even hope to succeed. Drawing upon winning coalitions created by B2B and B2C endeavors such as eBay, GoFish.com and Convistint, Cunningham then delves into everything from the technology involved to the contracts required. The result is a thorough examination aimed at those serious about finding innovative ways to improve their operations. --Howard Rothman

A REAL WORLD GUIDE TO PARTNERSHIPS
Complex topics such as partnerships tend to be covered in a very fragmented manner. Partners.com does not have this problem. Cunningham ably deals with the people, process, technology and market issues that forge partnerships, but also how to manage, measure and change them. Rarely are these areas covered in sufficient detail, but here there is a roadmap with milestones and strategies that are working in the marketplace. Partners.com does for partnerships what Patti Seybold's Customers.com did for customer relationships. A classic!

Don't be fooled by the .com in the title- this is for all
This book is a prize! For those that are looking for the details behind partnerships the information here is not only relevant, but very comprehensive. The mixture of technology, strategy and culture required to pull of good partnerships is difficult for organizations trying to make it happen. Cunningham provides not only a great roadmap, but illustrated with real world examples of what has and has not worked. Do not be fooled by the .com in the title, this book is targeted at all businesses. I particularly liked the sections on self-service Partnerships and the "most important partners, your staff". A practical piece with great strategic insight. Organizations will be able to use this to hone their competitiveness, internal and external consultants will buy to emulate all that has been learned on this topic.

My son loves this book.
This book has really helped my 3 year old son to settle down and allow God to draw close to him. He really loves for me to read him this book over and over again.

Quick and simple prayers for the little ones.
Prayers kids can say at breakfast, at playtime, at bedtime, or anytime! Quick words to talk to God with about thankfulness, learning to share, good wishes for someone who is sick, and more. This is a board book with adorable illustrations and tabs to take you to just the right prayer you want. I read these to my 9 month old daughter who not only listens, but enjoys turning the pages and chewing on it as well. It's holding up well!
