false advertising
"True Eyewitness Accounts of the Other World" indeed. There are maybe half a dozen such accounts, all a couple of paragraphs long. The bulk of this interminable book is a several-hundred page essay on how to meditate! The title is a misrepresentation, actually a bald-faced lie. It is as if I bought a book entitled "History of France," and it turned out to be about nuclear physics.

I have not encountered any of Brad Steiger's other works, but once bitten, twice shy -- I would stay away from any author so blatantly dishonest.

A Glimpse Beyond The Veil
Once again "The Master of the Paranormal" comes through with an astonishing book. You will be guided on a trip to an rarely seen world which surrounds each of us. Mr.Steiger in OUR SHARED WORLD OF THE SUPERNATURAL and SHADOW WORLD offers insights into HIS feelings, gleened from over 40 years of investigations into the Supernatural. The TRUE astonishing stories are offered in a non-judgmental manner for you the reader to ponder. Mr. Steiger doesn't tell you what to believe, he opens new vistas for you to consider.

His advise about "Cautiously, Prayerfully, Discern the Boundaries of the Supernatural" and other personal observations make these books I'll always cherish in my library. Nobody can describe the supernatural better than Brad Steiger. Mark Twain once said "Kipling knows all that there is in the known world and I know the rest". Thank you Brad Steiger for giving us a map to "the rest". Do I recommend these books? Both together are the most comprehensive and honest I've found on the Supernatural world around us. My HIGHEST recommendation
Erskine, host of Erskine Overnight as heard Saturday and Sunday nights on Business Talk Radio Network

Eye opening paranormal stories
I have read many books on the spiritual and paranormal from a very young age, yet, I felt curious about Brad Steiger's book "Our Shared World of the Supernatural," so I purchased a copy three days ago.

As I read the stories he shared of very real people who had experienced encounters with the paranormal, I couldn't put his book down. I loved his style of writing and the message he so ably put across to his readers: that we are NOT alone in this world, there are many dimensions and beings sharing our world. His book reminded me of certain precautions one must take when connecting to the spiritual world and of the importance of helping our earth. By reading his book, I felt reconnected to my purpose and to the mysteries of a vast universe. I thank Brad Steiger for using his gifts as a writer and paranormal researcher to bring awareness to our troubled world. I will definitely purchase another book from him... I am looking into buying a book about angels.

Reproducing Jews: A Cultural Account of Assisted Conception in Israel (Body, Commodity, Text)

Author: Susan Martha Kahn
Amazon base price: $19.95
Used price: $9.00

Do yourself a Favor
As a professor of Judaic Studies with a keen interest in Ethnography and Israel, I thought this book, which fell into my lap, or rather through my mailbox at my university, would be of interest. I found Susan Kahn is that genre of writer I abhor: arrogant, know-it-all, and so married to erudition that she has no voice. I can't imagine how anyone, with or without my interests in kinship and Israel, would possibly make it all the way through this book. I did so, and much to my dismay. Do yourself a favor and don't go burrow into this tome. It is unrewarding; a sad statement about this "experts" utter lack of a humane voice in her work. Whatever her talents, writing well is not among them.

Enlightening
Great topic, well researched and well written. Sometimes funny. I learned a great deal about the details of the topic. Moreover, the book informs the political issues and climate of statehood for a fledgling nation at the most personal and intimate levels. I've read the other reader's review and can't imagine that the vituperative commentary is in any way suggested by the topic or the book itself. Perhaps a little New Haven vs. Cambridge rivalry. Hey, grow up! If you are a reader with an interest in how Jewish motherhood and Jewish statehood relate, read the book. If you are a kvetch, have some chicken soup and you'll feel better in the morning.

Passionate Scholarship and Fluent Writing
It's no wonder that this book won the National Jewish Book Award this year. Kahn zeroes in on a much neglected area -- the lives of women in Israel-- and a subject -- infertility policy -- of interest not only to medical anthropologists and other scholarly researchers but to interested would-be parents and their friends and families around the world. In exploring Israel's public policy on reproduction and the way Israeli women go about utilizing it, Kahn has written a fascinating, provocative, and rewarding book.

Villisca: The True Account of the Unsolved 1912 Mass Murder That Stunned the Nation

Where are the sources?
A 'little known' true-crime murder mystery worth dipping into. The author has moments of creative narrative. But not enough to sustain the reader through pages and pages of reprinted document text. One would expect that a book of this kind, one that purports to be a "true account", would have sources listed at the end, or footnotes, or end notes, or any kind of notes to verify that the author didn't just make this stuff up. It is customary in nonfiction to cite sources.

Solid account and decent read
I just finished this account of the unsolved mass murders in 1912 in Villisca Iowa after finding out a bit of the historic event in early Iowa on the Web. I found the account pretty well written and engaging though the narrative, at times, took a back seat to lengthy historical documentation. The entire book as a whole might have been improved by some reductions in places but the content was fine as is. I have to admit I was surprised NOT to find the "author's take" at the very end (or somewhere) on who he thought was behind it all, what person(s) committed the actual murders, was there a conspiracy, etc. After plowing through all that text, to not be provided this account might seem to make the book and author more credible, but I distinctly missed such an offering.

The true story of a terrible crime
Ably researched and deftly written by Roy Marshall, Villisca is the true story of a terrible crime that took place in 1912 America. Eight victims, six of them children, were bludgeoned to death with an axe as they slept. Private investigators dissected the case after inexperienced police detectives failed, and scandals concerning public figures were drawn into the white-hot light of public scrutiny. A thoroughly researched and evenhandedly presented narrative, Villisca is a welcome and recommended addition to personal, and community library True Crime shelves, as well as academic Criminology Studies reference collections.

Tale by de Vaca himself of his trials in America
Hard to follow at times, you get confused as to how many people are actually following him! It is sometimes slow reading. Yet, the informantion in the book is good.

Absolutely basic to anyone living in Texas and the Southwest
To read so much live detail about the way of life of the original inhabitants of parts of Texas and the Southwest is to have one's very conceptions about these places changed. It's an amazing, short read and the editor helps with notes in critical places. I think this is basic reading for anyone even part-way interested in the history of Texas and neighboring states. Cabeza de Vaca's account covers hair-raising events which occurred in the 1530s right here on Galveston Island, so it gives a longer sense of post-Columbian history than one usually gets as a lay reader of Texas and Southwest history. I too don't know why more folks aren't talking about this book. I'm buying copies to give away.

Valuable source of information about Texas history
I read this book for a Spanish literature course as an example of early Spanish writing in America. This story has value in that it provides information on the background of early Spanish exploration, the true motivations and intentions of the explorers (or conquistadors), and their encounters with the native people on the Texas and Florida coasts.

It is interesting to read about Texas as a foreign land as seen through the eyes of the author because I grew up there. It was fascinating to realize the adventures and drama that occured so many hundreds of years ago when two cultures collided and no one was positive who would dominate. We know today who did, but at that time, the master (conquistador) did become the slave (of the natives) for seven years. In this way, a valuable account of tribal life and culture is written first-hand, but many years after the events took place.

One thing I noticed is that Cabeza de Vaca still maintains a sense of superiority in that he never refers to any of the native people by their names in the book. It may be that he forgot the names over time. Or, he never considered it of importance because the natives were "barbarians" and intellectually inferior in his eyes. I'm also not sure that the author reveals the full truth of his role in the events that took place once he met up with the other conquistadors in Texas after his enslavement. He's a little too much the hero. While Cabeza de Vaca is somewhat sympathetic towards the native people, one feels that Cabeza de Vaca still looks upon the Europeans as explorers and evangelists, while those being explored and evangelized saw the Europeans as conquerors and gold-diggers. But we don't have their account.

Other than this, the book is very informative and filled with detailed information on geography and culture. I also purchased the Spanish version and so realized that the English translation is excellent.

HOW WILL GOD RATE US? THAT IS THE QUESTION!
What to do when God places His Treasure... In Earthen Vessels??
_______________________________________________________________

In recent years, there's been much said, preached about, and written in books about the personal lives and ministries of
"The Mighty Men of God...In Our Generation!"

Especially, the powerful healing ministries..of Katheran Kulhman,Amie Mc Pherson,William Branham, A.A.Allen,Jack Coe,Morris Cerrullo,R.W. Shambach,Benny Hinn,Leroy Jenkins,
Don Stewart and others!

I personally have been approched by 3 publishers, asking me to write about my 60years of "walking by the side ... of many of Gods Giants of Faith, yet God has never released me to do so as of yet!

I have hesitated to open up the past, as, often what is really wanted, is to expose the humanity side of God's men...and not the Divine Calling and Anointing of God!

While it's wonderful to read about the powerful accounts of these people of God and how the effected their world.. we need to leave there personal lives and their personal relationship with God... to the Lord! Let me explain.

You see, some people like to play God.. and expose other ministers faults and failures.. just to exalt themselves,
by putting down someone else! Pentecostisim especially, has been
bound with this problem for years and driven many away from god!
God is a God of Love and Restoration..even to fallen ministers!
Say Amen Bro. Swaggart! (by the way, God is using him around the world to win multitueds to Christ! Pray for his ministry!)

There's two problems with that attitude! One is the question; " Who made us God?" secondly; " As we deal forth judgement to others.. so shall we drink from that same cup!

" Trust me! It's a bitter cup! I've been guilty, in years past and I've had to ask forgiveness. We allllll... need God! Amen?

Let me stop here an say, that "Whatever is committed to God..
and is under the blood of Christ, is a Holy Thing! The Devil...

You Nor I ... have a right to touch it or bring it out from undet the precous blood coveing of Jesus!

If God has forgiven sin..He also has forgotten the sin and we must forgive and forget also!

Flesh is Flesh! Spirit is Spirit! All flesh stinks(yours or mine).. and we must learn to know, respect and revere one another, .. by God's Spirit! Especially in the ministy!

Yes all preachers are human and have to deal with the flesh
and the spirit, just like you do. We all make mistakes! I've made many.. but by the grace and mercy of God Almighty, I've been forgiven and learned from the experience and moved forward to be a greater man of God then before!

I did agree to a 2 hr. interview with Don Stewarts co-editor, concerning a few of my accounts with the late Rev. A. A. Allen. I appreciate the credit given to myself and my late friend, Rev. Seven Bloomburg, in the front ot Don's book "Only Believe."

While the book is wonderful and full of history of the healing movement, if I may ... I would like to address an important issue that it brings up to the body of Christ.

Bro. Stewart and I have had a great relationship in the ministy, in many crusades, spanning about 40 years! He's a special man of God, who has both carried a heavy cross.. of inheriting another mans foundation... and the responsibilities of producing fruit in many International Missionary Crusades!

It's been my priviledge to know and work with Evangelist Don Stewart since the late 1950's, when he was first healed of a crippled leg... in the A. A. Allen Miracle Healing Crusade, in Phoenix, Az.

We were both blessed to work and travel with Rev. Allen.(Don..in later years, as his assoc. evangelist, then as VP. and later Pres. of Miracle Revivals Inc., after Bro. Allens went to be with the Lord.)

I first worked with Bro. Allen at age 17, as a radio editor for his national broadcast and attending to the emergency section of
people who were the more serious cases, coming for prayer.

In later years, I worked again .. some 8 or 9 times, as crusade organist, singer, minister and promotional projects. Those were wonderful days.. of having a "Front Row Seat"..to witness multitudes coming to Christ, astounding miracle healings as well as God used him to birth a revival of Joy and Liberty...around the world! The fruits of his labor is still producing souls, in many nations today.(over 30 yrs. after his coronation.)

Don Stewart also has recieved much mentoring and inspiration from Bro. Allen, as has thousands of ministers around the world, including myself.

I also, have been greatly inspired and schooled, by many other men I've worked with over 60 yrs, and some 3,000,000 miles on the gospel trail, in 58 nations.(William Branham,Leroy Jenkins,
Jack Coe,Morris Cerrullo,Dr. Thomas Whyatt, R.W. Shambach,John H. Osteen,my own father and many others.

I could write volumes about my experiences and what I've witnessed, but While I shared some of my accounts of Bro. Allens life with Don and his Co-author, I'd like to address a specific point on the review of Bro. Stewarts book and his information about Rev. Allen.

First of all, the bible commands us (it's not an option)..to "Judge and to Know..no man, after the flesh!"

This is the missing plum line, in most churches and ministries today! We tend to judge men of God by the size of their crowds, success, the way they dress, look, ..the "Outer packaging!"

Even the miracles, anointing, and operation of the gifts of the spirit..are not always signs of their character or integrity!

Excuse me! Take a good look at most of the men of God in the bible and you'll see that "THEY ALL HAD FLESH PROBLEMS, YET GOD CHOSE THEM, KNEW THEM, AND USED THEM FOR HIS GLORY!"

He often uses " Bad Boys.. To Do Good Things!" Not the religious, pastors of the first church of the fridgidare!

In the end, we all (A.A.ALLEN, BENNY HINN, DON STEWART..BUFORD DOWELL...AND YOU).. STAND BEFORE "A LOVING, HEAVENLY FATHER.. WHO DEALS IN RIGHTEOUS JUDGEMENT" .. and we have to give account for our personal Relationship (Like David of old, our Heart after God)... and the real fruit we have produced for "His True Kingdom..Not Ours or some Denomination!"

Remember... It's about Relationship! Not Religion, Good works or even Ministry!

We must know every man (and woman) by the Spirit..by their Heart, the way God sees them and as the "Finished Product..
of His Handy Work!"

I walked by the side of the good..the bad... and the ugly.. over the years and it does'nt matter who it is, their color, or their past failures, if their faces are washed in the BLOOD OF JESUS CHRIST.. THEY'RE PART OF THE GLORIOUS REDEEMED OF THE LORD!

If they're not, pray for them! Love them and Restore them! Pour in the oil and and wine! Don't expose their sin..or God will expose yours!

In closing, some of the greatest men and women of God on planet earth, ..who will never have a book written about them, be seen on TBN, or preach to a hundred people, are also really true Generals in Gods Mighty End Time Army! Why? Because they've been faithful! They've fought a good fight! Ran a good race!
Been obedient vessels!

Be encouraged! The Best is yet to come!

-Watch for the Wind...

A Great Insight Into the Healing Reveval
This is a wonderful companion book to "All Things are Possible" written by David E Harrell. Where Harrell draws the unbiased facts, Stewart as an insider fills in the background color. Together, they are a fairly complete picture of the Healing Revival, circa 1947-1969 and its colorful evangelists, yet separately, they both leave gaps.

To his credit, Stewart doesn't evade to tough questions on AA Allen (His drinking problem, his being prone to showmanship and theatrics, his death) or any of the evangelists, but handles them with the same kind of love that a parent has when they talk about their child's problem. You get the sense that Allen really was a "father figure" to this young minister. Stewart also takes us into the ministries of some of the "lesser known" evangelists of the movement, men such as Tommy Hicks and Velmer Gardner. These "lesser known" men had powerful ministries, yet were always in the shadow of the giants Branham, Roberts, Coe and Allen.

One thing I found odd about Stewart's book was the absence of the ministry of RW Schambach. He, as with Stewart, was an associate evangelist under Allen, and he had and still has a powerful and enduring ministry, yet the book is silent on him. The only mention of Schambach is one paragraph on page 156 calling him a "powerful preacher". Leroy Jenkins and Marjoe Gortner had more written on them. This is strange, maybe jealousy or a sense of betrayal when he left Allen's team? Only Stewart knows.

Another negative was Stewart's seeming self promotion. He titled his chapter "The Last of the Healing Evangelists", and went on to state that there is only "Benny Hinn, Reinhard Bonkke and myself" left as big healing evangelists. He also implies in the book that his ministry is the only one with Apostolic Succession from the Healing Revival. Again, he conveniently left out RW Schambach and even TL Osborne.

Stewart gives glowing and much deserved credit to the ministries of Oral Roberts and William Branham. Both were bridge builders, Branham brought Oneness and Trinitarian believers under one campaign roof, and Roberts brought Pentecostalism and the Charismatic movement together. He also convincingly spoke of the battles Jack Coe, Allen and eventually the rest of the evangelists had with the Assemblies of God (AofG). He made a good argument on why the evangelists felt threatened by the AofG, and why they left.

Overall, I enjoyed the book, and it has a place on my bookshelf next to Harrell's "All Things", Liardon's "God's Generals" and the Dictionary of Pentecostal and Charismatic Movements". Stewart's candid answers to the unpleasant questions and the compassion he had when he spoke of their weaknesses had me to re-think my own beliefs about these men and their character. If I brought one thing away from the book, it is that God pours His gifts into earthen vessels, and in the end, looking at the vessel discarded is in no way a indication of what it was filled with at one time

A Glimps Into the Past
As we look to our past, it prepares us for our future. I was impressed with the author's views and insights on these various Generals of the Faith, who have gone on before us. I was inspired and encouraged by the author's facts of the late Rev. A.A. Allen's accounts. I gleaned a lot from the author's willingness to be open and candid in his writings. My hat is off to you, Rev. Don Stewart for sharing these sometimes very painfull accounts of our beloved, Rev. A.A. Allen. What a helpful insight into our past, it will help with our future. If you have not purchased a copy of the book, get one. It is much needed in your libary today. I've recommended it to a friend, and I highly recommended it to those in search of facts from our past of Great Men and Woman of God. You won't be disappointed.

Must reading for those seeking the truth!
I got a copy of the Rising Revival with genuine openness to the present progress to the revival that has been going on in Argentina since the 50s. After reading the book, I was convinced that something is terribly wrong with what is going on there. The message was clear, but somehow people are reading this book without picking up the strong clues. Example: "Never before has the occult thrived and proliferated in Argentina as it has in recent years. Deeply entrenched in some rituals of the Roman Catholic Church, the occult has multiplied through sects and new religious movements, especially among the spiritualist Afro-Brazilian cults and Afro-Caribbean cults and within most of the indigenous religion of Latin America." The Rising Revival, p. 81 If this is what the present emphasis on Spiritual Mapping, Spiritual Warfare, etc., is bringing to Argentina, do we really want to import the same thing to different countries all over the world? Hundreds of thousands of demons cast out of people and a revival of the occult? What's wrong with this picture? In Christ, Rev. Greg Robertson, Jakarta, Indonesia

"When God's People Start Prayin"ÿ
I found this book to be inspiring and illuminating. Not only does this book explore the revival sweeping the land of Argentina through the instruments God has choosen to use, but it also gives the reader practical application for partnering with God to bring revival to other parts of the world. As a personal fan of Wagner, I find this book to be one of his greatest. With collaboration from other writers Wagner gives insight on how to keep the "fire" burning and how to keep the "fire" growing. I challenge all non-believers and strict dogmatic christians to "taste and see that the Lord is good" in the Rising Revival!

Inspiring stories of revival happening NOW!
The Rising Revival is various accounts of what has been happening (and still is) in Argentina. Each of the 12 chapters is written by a different pastor, so you get 12 different testimonies of God's mighty hand in salvation, signs and wonders. This book inspires me to believe the same things can happen in the U.S., and shows what can happen when people not only believe God's Word, but act on it.

Key account Management for beginners
the book gives an overview about KAM. This book is only for beginners or students interesting to read. Also the case studies are not very informative. Better literature comes from Kevin Wilson and Reinhold Rapp.

A great starting point!
As a student studying strategic account management, I found this book an excellent choice for anyone interested in national or global account management. It carefully addresses not only the present challenges of key account management but also stresses future trends and absolute requirements for successful account management in a rapidly changing marketplace.

Excellent, Wonderful for anyone looking for a start
I purchased this book a few months back from Strategic Account Management Association themselves. It is direct and to the point, in general a wonderful best practices tool. The material included is this book is leading edge, I recommend it frequently to collegues and anyone just starting out. There is nothing better for the price.

The way things really were...
A neighbor of mine, Jim O'Kelly, contributed to this book. So I ordered it to get to know what he had been through and to relate a little better to his experiences. I was too young for Vietnam, but have always had an interest in the war. I found the book very informative and interesting. Very true to the way life really was for the engineers and others who served over there. The interviews gave me an insight to the feelings the men all felt deep inside about the experience. And the everyday routine of getting the job done, and just trying to survive the enemy and health problems associated with the living conditions. I enjoyed the book a great deal, and it really made me appreciate the small things we all take for granted every day. Thanks to all the men and women that served over there. They deserve to be recognized and admired for their efforts and endurance. It's strange though. Many folks back then did not give the honor the Vietnam vets deserved when they returned home. Knowing what I do about Vietnam and how horrible a war it was to acually be invloved in. I've always thought of the Vietnam vet as one of the most couragous vets. Not taking anything away from other vets. But it was such a different type of war in many ways.

Excellent example for this genre
Ms Shellenbarger has done a great job of organizing a lot of information into a book which is easy to read and communicates the experience of having been a soldier in Viet Nam. It covers the initial entry of both the battalion and its members into the war, their experiences while there and upon returning home, and their view of the war from the present. VERY revealing! There is no editorializing or conclusion-drawing by Ms Shellenbarger, which is just fine. The men's words stand alone. An admirable job with difficult subject matter!

JFK years through the eyes of an economist turned diplomat
Having recently exhumed this 1969 book from my basement, I took time to selectively enjoy some of the diary entries which were written during the Kennedy years, largely from the US Embassy in India. Galbraith was a Harvard economist who worked for the JFK campaign and was given the ambassadorial appointment to India which he had asked for. In his usual witty and sardonic style, he recounts anecdotes from this era, including encounters with JFK, Nehru, and other world leaders. The book closes with the funeral of JFK at which Galbraith meets French President De Gaulle. QUOTE I told him I thought there was a real resilience in our political system; that we could survive the death of John F. Kennedy; that we needed to reflect less on the consequences of this action and more on the wickedness of the violence which struck down a man who so throughly loved life. De Gaulle said he agreed, that we had come to be far too casual abouth death. France and the United States both had a core of violent people at large. UNQUOTE

Such is the tenor of this book, which is more mildly humorous than profound. Incidentally, I have reviewed a book by another ambassador to India - from Mexico - whom I believe served at about the same time in New Delhi as Galbraith. The book entitled In Light Of India is by Mexican writer Octavio Paz, and is more focused on culture and history than this diary of the U.S. ambassador who was his contemporary.

Galbraith and Kennedy
Here's a book that deserves to be back in print. Galbaith might not be much of an economist but he's a wonderful writer, and his perspective on people and events of the early Sixties should retain its historical interest as that era falls further astern

Horrible book
This book is a perversion. It is an affront to Nicole and Ron's memory. I bought it thinking it would have accounts from akita knowledgeable people relating their opinons about the case. Not so. It is supposed to be done in cheek yet I see nothing funny about the murders of two people. There are excerpts in their that are perversions. I don't believe in censorship but would make an exception in this case. If I ever find it at a library I shall check it out and burn it to save others the fate of seeing it. No research about akitas was preformed before publishing obviously and I don't think the person that wrote it even likes dogs. To top it off the writting is horrible. One run-on sentence was 2 pages long! My opinion is don't waste your money or time. My copy shall be used as TP. It is not fit for anything else.

A pretty hilarious book
I loved the premise, because I remember back during O.J.'s trial, people were saying if only the dog could talk, he could identify the killer. Well, this dog does. I won't give it away, but it is right on. Kato even has a website that is updated a lot,...

My favorite part has got to be the chapter that takes off on what Faye Resnick, Nicole's best friend, wrote in her bestseller, that Nicole and she had a single 'physical' encounter after a wild night of drinking and whatever.

In the dog's version, Faye gets confused and drags Kato into her bed. Very funny.

AWSOME and FUNNY
This was the best book I have read in a while !!!
2 thumbs up !!!!!!!!!!!! KATO
