This is an excellent way to teach children to draw from the basic shapes. I think it should be republished for children today.

I remember Little Joe Otter fondly from when I was inelementary school. That series was my favorite and I checked them outas often as I could from our little school library. The stories wereeasy to read but not too simple, and were often funny while gentlyteaching. My siblings and I would pretend to be Joe Otter and hisfriends (my favorite was Thistle the Fox, I think). I want to be ableto share it with niece and nephew soon, too. I highly recommend it.

I love Little Joe Otter!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This book changed my life

I was diagnosed as "borderline hypoglycemic" when I was 19 after have a rootbeer float at lunch. At the same time I was told that low blood sugar "usually" turns into a full blown case of diabetes and that there was no Known cure for it.

By following the basic guidelines given in this book, I learned how to control my blood sugar level, how to tell when it was getting to low, or was to high. Its all in what is eaten and how often. What you eat today, will effect how you are going to feel tomorrow. After awhile, it all became a habit.

I'm quite happy to say that almost 30 years later, I still watch the signs, symptoms, know when to eat what. And am still "borderline hypoglycemic".

This book has been very helpful with my problems

For many years I could not find an answer to my problems I experienced. I only knew that it was connected with nutrition and the book was an absolute eye opener to me. Now I feel much better having taken notice of Fredericks' advice in this book.

I would appreciate to get in touch with the autor and ask for his e-mail address or normal address, because in the New Low Blood Sugar and You book we found a mistake in the charts ( which did not relate to the page where they are described).

I am a second grade teacher. I use this book every year. I use it around his birthday, during Black History Month, and during our Language Arts unit on Courage. I love the part, and photograph, about the man that rollerskated from Chicago to see Dr. King. I think it protrays how important Dr. King was to people around the nation. This year I did somthing special. I work in Juvenile Hall with 15-16 year old males. Before I showed them the video of the speech, I had reveiwed some books about him, but I read this one aloud to them. It is a simple book that has a powerful message. The combination of drawings and photographs bring together this message.

Excellent Look and Feel to the book

I recently stumbled onto this book at a public library and I have to say I'm very impressed. Martin Luther King and the March on Washington is an excellent work that moves at a good pace for readers of any age. Going to the March on Washington to see King speak must have been a life-changing event that would positively impact anyone who attended. However, for those of us who were not there, or are too young to have been able to go, we are fortunate enough to feel like we are able to experience the magnitude of the event through the books pacing and sense of history. The author places us right in the moment and you can't help but feel like you are on the steps of the mall in Washington, surrounded by scores of people watching a critical moment in American history.

I personally thought that this book would be great for the little girl who is in ballet school herself, and might have the same problem with one of the girls in her own class. This book can also be great for the little girl whose mother wants to widen her experiences by introducing her to the world of the arts. This book is a Level 1 book for Preschool-Grade 1, which means that it has very large words for easy reading, lots of repetition, and pictures to go along with the text. I think that this book is so cute and since I am a dancer myself, I know that I would give this book to my daughter in the future! I give this book two thumbs up!

Alice Childress's second novel for children, and written in the same sort of Harlemese as A Hero Ain't Nothin' But a Sandwich, this is the story of fourteen-year-old Rainbow Jordan. Her single mother, Kathie, is a go-go dancer and flighty. Every couple of weeks she'll take off on a gig and leave Rainbow alone in their apartment. Usually when this happens Rainbow goes to say with Miss Josie, her foster mother, who cares a lot about Rainbow but is preoccupied with the breakup of her twenty-year marriage. On the street Rainbow's got a girlfriend, Beryl, who earns spending money with casual prostitution, and a boyfriend, Eljay, who keeps pressuring her to go all the way.

The story is told from three points of view: Kathie, Rainbow, and Miss Josie. Kathie does love her daughter in her own way, but as Rainbow says, "her way don't weigh much". A good example of this is when Kathie went out and bought Rainbow some new, pretty clothes. But she had to use the babysitter money to pay for them, and because of this she had to leave Rainbow, then five years old, alone in the house for several hours. Miss Josie on the other hand cares about Rainbow in a much more mature way. Rainbow thinks little of either of them.

I thought A Hero Ain't Nothin' But a Sandwich was good, but I think I liked Rainbow Jordan better. The situations in the book -- irresponsible parents, boyfriends that keep nagging you to have sex with them, men that abandon their families -- are real and just as applicable today as they were back in 1982 when the book was written.

This book is very good for teens to read. This will allow them to see that maybe they are not alone in their journey also it will allow other children who are blessed to have good parents to see how it could be. I'd recommend this book to be read by everyone.

This was the storybook my mother used to read to me before bed. It was our nightly ritual. The illustrations of Tasha Tudor filled my dreams, and were a very special part of my childhood. Through this book I learned such timless classics as; Hansel and Gretel, The Frog Prince, and Billy Goats Gruff. I treasure my copy to this day. Share this timeless classic with someone you love.

A VERY MAGICAL BOOK

I had this book when I was a child. I used to spend what seemed like hours staring at Tasha Tudor's beautiful illustrations. I recently found my copy in my parent's attic, but it was water- logged and completely destroyed. This book meant so much to me as a child. The pictures are gorgeous and evoke vivid daydreams. This book would be a very cherishable heirloom.

I LOVED this book as a child and was so excited to find a copy of it here. It's a great book of stories, ones like your grandmother would tell you on a rainy night when you can't sleep and you miss your mother. They're humorous and sweet with just a bit of an edge. I remember reading this book over and over again when I was little and I'm so pleased to share it with the little ones in my life now.
