Conscious leadership is key to responsible success. "In the Spirit of Leadership: A Vision Into a Different Future" is a different sort of leadership book for today's businessmen. Borrowing elements from both self-help and poetry, Esposito blends the elements to create a more spiritual and enlightening sort of leadership book encouraging consciousness to what one is doing as they lead their company, be it to success, mediocrity, or oblivion. "In the Spirit of Leadership" is well worth considering if one has read other leadership books and found them ineffective.

A Sparkling Gem!

This book touched my heart and challenged me to connect with the essence of my own leadership. Cheryl Esposito is a visionary who offers practical tools from her extensive experience. The stories from her own leadership journey catapulted me into a realm that is, at its core, the heart of inspiration.

This stunning compendium of eloquent poetry and brief prose lands it on the short list of gifts suitable anytime, anywhere.

This book is beautiful inside and out. With a gentle voice and a persistent nudge, Cheryl Esposito invites leaders to do the unthinkable: to bring their whole selves to work. Imagine a world where leaders were feeling, connected and heartfelt listeners who engaged with others from our commonality rather than from our differences.

This book will inspire anyone who is hesitating to speak the truth.

Highly recommended!

Innervation by Guy Browning is a very good book. The book made me rethink several points in my life. This book gave me several tools I can use in every day life.

Guy Browning is a straight shooter. He gets right to the point and says it like it is. If you are looking for a good quick read I would recommend Innervation.

I'll start by saying that I've read a fair amount of books in my day. This book, for its genre, is probably the best (second would probably be The Circle of Innovation by Tom Peters) that I've read.

I'm honestly AMAZED by how concisely he communicates points in a matter of paragraphs that would take other authors entire books.

There also haven't been all that many books where I've started to laugh out loud in the middle of. I really like this guy's way of getting straight to the point.

This book features about 12 chapters, or articles, each written by a different CTO. I have never read such a great collection of essays from such highly esteemed technology professionals. To have a chance to know what the CTOs from GE, Boeing, PeopleSoft, BMC, BEA, Novell and others are thinking about the future of technology is an incredibly worthwhile tool. I highly recommend this book for every level technology professional, or anyone even remotely interested in technology and how it is going to affect their business.

Philosophy as Art and Dance.

A superbly, creatively paradoxical book. This book doesn't just set forth, dogmatically and exclusively, a set of ideas held by the author to be 'objectively true', it puts forward a set of ideas which enter into paradoxical (critical) relationships with each other, stimulating the reader to take up a critical position towards the book hirself. If intelligence rests on a critical attitude, then this book will increase your intelligence. Philosophy as art and dance.

So, Who and What Are the Intelligence Agents?
Helpful Votes: 21 out of 22 total.
Review Date: 2000-03-24
As Marvin Minsky desribes in his book 'Society of Mind' the Agents are small programs that achieve small tasks on their own. Once an Agent is grouped with another Agent new functions and actions can occur that single Agents cannot produce on their own. So what about a whole society of Agents?

Dr. Timothy Leary, in his own chaotic style, recapitulates evolution from the first organism in which life began in the Eastern Oriental shorelines. DNA, the breath of life is always chasing the Sun Westward towards our neurological destiny. If you are familar with Dr. Leary's 24 Stage/8 Neuro-Circuit theory, then you will get a rise from this book. We have migrated from Asia to California as the launching pad into space where we will create H.O.M.E.s (High Oribtal Mini-Earths). The Intelligence Agents have already established their homes in future hive colonies. The secret to becoming an Intelligence Agent and Intelligence Increase is to SMILE (Space Migration Intelligence Increase Life Extension - the 'I' is squared).

The book is designed to look like articles written from future and past Intelligence Agents, with Leary out in the wings sending you transmissions from Switzerland on his update. The articles falsely written by such neuronauts as Carol Rosin, Anise Nun, Henry Marshall, Pauline Kael, Andy Warhol, Susan Kaiser Vogel and so many others that Leary includes in the Genetic Hall of Fame (however, one must realize at some point this was all written by Leary himself). The Intelligence Agents are all working together to get you moving.

Leary's style is jumbled with theories, ideas, histories, dedications, neurological data, DNA information, cultures of smaller organisms, cultures of cosmic life, evolution of organisms and individuals, occult, philosophy and metaphors compact in what seems to be a cross of 'Neuropolitique' and 'The Game of Life.' What I find exciting about this book is not so much the confusing writing, but within the chaos there is a positive code that Leary is sending to all of us, possibly decoded from his own DNA transmissions, and that code is: "Move On!"

My own little universe

Have you ever read a book from long ago that became a memento of your more youthful days?

I was 20 years old when I bought this book, approaching adulthood, working for the summer on my college campus. I read the book on my lunch breaks as a reward for hard work in the morning. There was nothing profound about this book. It just snared my interest the way no other book did because of the still childlike wonderment I had of space travel.

The author gave a mystique to space travel and extraterrestrials while retaining sound scientific principles in his descriptions. He discusses various scenarios regarding interstellar travel that I had not thought of before. For example, he informs us that the galaxy is dynamic and the night sky that appears today is different from what was there not long ago on a cosmic time scale. He gives data on how often sun-like pass near our solar system to provide an opportunity for a short hop earth.

On occasions he abandons scientific rumination to give wilder speculation or even abandoning speculation for the reader to take up. In the book are eye witness accounts of various strange events that gave the book an eerie appeal.

I would probably not enjoy it quite as much today due to the skepticism and sophistication that comes with maturity and experience. The book just glosses over some concepts, especially in dealing with technically oriented subjects as propulsion. I think the details he does give in regard to propulsion are a bit optimistic. A light read perhaps, but sure to tickle the fancy of a young space nut.

I Read Over and Over...

There are certain books that one purchases and reads over and over again without tiring of the content. This is one of those books for me. I purchased this book back in 1991 when this edition was released and I still pick it up about once a year and read it. I believe that anyone desiring an introductory, easy to understand book about interstellar travel (plus some other topics mentioned below) will enjoy this book as much as I have for nearly a decade.

This book is broken up into two parts: part I being a discussion about possible methods of interstellar travel and part II presenting a wide range of topics related to extraterrestrial life. Oddly, contrary to the title, the talk about exterrestrial life is the longer part. Both parts are written in layman's terms and present scientific concepts in a concise, enjoyable format.

The book spans a wide variety of topics within each part. The interstellar travel part hits upon the vastness of space, chemical and fusion rockets, slow moving generational space arks, space curvature, non-space (i.e., hyperspace), wormholes, blackholes, time dilatation, and tachyons. The author concludes this part with an incredibly enjoyable discussion of problems one might face while attempting to navigate while traveling at near light speed. The extraterrestrial life part touches upon the chemistry of aliens, estimating the number of possible extraterrestrial civilizations (i.e., the Drake function), possible extraterrestrial contact in ancient history, and a discussion about possible contact in recent history.

Yes! UFOs are mentioned in this book, but don't roll your eyes because the author does not get fanatical about the topic. He is mainly presenting UFOs in the context that some extraterrestrial civilization might have perfected interstellar travel in our past (i.e., ancient astronauts) or maybe even our present. I thought it was a good tie-in independent of ones views on the topic of UFOs.

One thing about this book is that it has primitive illustrations. They are, obviously, handrawn images. The drawings do get the job done and there are just the right quantity of them contained in the book. One funny picture is the illustration of the "Appearance of a star that has become a Black Hole": a square that is all black is shown. I still laugh when I see that one...

A truly wonderful book

I am a relatively new student of stochastic processes. The first 4 chapters which are essentially devoted to explaining the theoretical concepts (Ito inetgration, semi-martingales, etc..) are so lucidly written that it is very easy for someone with a limited idea of stochastic process to comprehend them. After establishing these concepts, the book discusses how the earlier theory is applied to pricing by discussing the options pricing models under different scenarios. I felt that although i understood the earlier discussions regarding arbitrage, the part on how it relates with equivalent martingales was quite difficult to understand. But it is probably because i am new to this subject. In all this is an excellent effort by the authors to make a difficult topic readable and understandable. Finally i feel that people, who are genuinely interested in investing their hard earned money in options, should take the time and effort to learn from this book rather than the typical stereotype "How I Became a Millionaire Overnight Trading Options" books.

I first saw this book by chance in the Library of Congress. After some minutes I found it so comprehensive and educative I fell in love with it! The book solves central problems regarding risk measuring and portfolio optimization with alternative investments, everything explained clearly in the chapters, supported with extensive mathematical appendices. A jewel for all professionals in the hedge fund industry, specially for quant researchers.

I cannot understand why it has not been translated to english, this book has no peer in financial literature.

The Importance of Timing

Review Date: 2008-10-16
In this book one can learn the importance of timing in making financial and business decisions. It is written by an accomplished astrologer who established his reputation by predicting in 1988 the crash of the Tokyo Stock Exchange. He did this by erecting a horoscope for the birth of the country of Japan and that of the Tokyo Stock Exchange. Mr. Weingarten has also included in his book articles written by other astrologers who impress us with similar forecast abilities.

INVESTING BY THE STARS is written for the professional astrologer who has some basic knowledge of financial matters. The author stresses also the importance of understanding the investor's natal chart and accessing his "comfort level" as part of the counseling process.

The principles in this book make for impressing reading. I would highly recommend it to the advanced astrologer who would like to achieve success in investment counseling.

I serve the National Association of Investors, Corp. (NAIC) as senior contributing editor and director, online resources. I clearly have some bias, but feel that this text is a wonderful tool for launching teenagers on a lifetime of successful strategic long-term investing. We reviewed this text in the April-2000 issue of "Better Investing." In a nutshell, there's exceptional promise in helping our young people get started. Combine a little discipline with youthful imagination and the sky's the limit. The book delivers on its promise and merits consideration by any visionary educator and/or parent looking for effective support.
