Does society truly need the government acting as a parental figure? "The Collected Papers of Anthony de Jasay: Social Contract, Free Ride, A Study of the Public-Goods Problem" presents several radical ideas for the reader to ponder. Arguing that through the social contract and morality inherent in Americans, voluntary contributions of the people would solve many of society's problems - because under the social system, everyone would feel urged to contribute if they had the ability to do so. The possibility that many would prefer to take the free ride is not discounted, however. Thoughtful and thought provoking throughout, "The Collected Papers of Anthony de Jasay: Social Contract, Free Ride, A Study of the Public-Goods Problem" is highly recommended for community library political collections.

This is an outstanding book. Although the policy analysis in the second half of the book is now largely outdated, the first half is a solid and thoughtful history of Social Security through the 1983 amendments. I recommend this book for anyone who wants to understand the origins of this important federal entitlement program.

The essays in Socialism and War (SAW) are first rate. However, you can find most of the essyas from part one in Individualism and Economic Order (IEO). Parts two and three contain essays from Hayek that are hard to find elsewhere. Parts two and three are useful for those who want to dig deeper into Hayek's work, for serious historians of Hayek's economic thought. This is the work that led to Hayek's Road to Serfdom. The second and third parts are also useful for those who want to read up on Hayek quickly- these are as short an easy as Hayek's work gets.

We owe much thanks to Bruce Caldwell for keeping Hayek's work in publication and accessible. This being said, the most important essays here were already available in IEO. Few of us really need both SAW and IEO, but we few who do appreciate his efforts.

This book is a classic, and a MUST for those interested in the story of mankind

These writings are taken from the pages of her notebooks after the tragic accident. Some of these writing are so touching. You'll be amazed at the depth and wisdom from such a young girl. All proceeds go to "Sophie's Silver Lining Fund." If you get a chance read the play about Sophie written by Bryan Willis.

This is a must read book for anyone who is going into to a ministry and raising their support. It takes away a lot of the fear of fund raising and explains it in a simple Biblical way

I have been trying to get a basic understanding of the offshore fund industry over the past two years. Other publications pale in comparison with this Bible. Its over 585 pages and if weight is any indication of valued content the Guide has hit the jack pot. Yes its well worth the price.

This is a valued reference is for anyone who has considered placing money in offshore investment funds. It includes explanations to what they are and where they located including information on over 7600 funds and the Top 350 Performing Funds with contact details - many with web sites - for all of them.

Milroy has taken this rather elusive topic, exposed it and put this critical information into the hands of every day people and for this I am very thankful.

Now it is not just the rich and powerful who have this information.

There are very few books that focus on planned giving for the nonprofit organization. This is an excellent guide as it starts with a readiness assessment and then supplies each of the steps to build a successful planned giving approach.

For the new person in the field, here is an opportunity to learn the specifics about a fund raising campaign. There is no better training manual in the field
