Fund-of-funds Books

I sincerely enjoyed and appreciated this book. Prior to getting employed in a hedge fund I read this book and it provides a great basic look at what exactly a hedge fund is. It's written in plain English and is short - so you're not surrounded by financial engineering terms at all. Neufeld talks about the differences between hedge funds and mutual funds, in addition to addressing the myths surrounding exploding hedge funds. She also goes into hedge fund investing styles and investing risks. Each fund likes a different risk profile and she discusses this. She'll also explain fee structure of hedge funds. The caveat is that don't expect to take your cash and start investing in hedge funds as if they are mutual funds. Hedge funds required a minimum $1 million in capital. So the headline "How to Profit in Any Market" is quite deceiving. It should be "How THEY Profit in Any Market."

This is a guide for hedge funds - not a guide on how to get rich. I truly enjoyed it.

This is one of the few thorough books on hedge fund regulation out there. There is a need for more literature in this area but this is one the top 3 hedge fund regulation books around.

Paul Oranika's hedge fund book is a very easy to read and understand book, I have read a few other books on this subject, but none was clearer that this book. Every investor interested in understanding hedge funds, its history, trading strategies, domicile and regulatory questions and other important matters about them should read this book. I have no heisitation to give this book the highest rating available.

Looking forward to reading this updated Prime Brokerage book. I have read the first edition and it was very well researched and thought out.

I am in the process of opening my own hedge fund and needed to have a clients perspective. I have gone through a lot of books but this book truly blew me away. It has just the right kind of information needed to dissect hedge funds, what they are made of, what clients need to know before they invest, different types of hedge funds out there etc.

I recently purchased this hedge fund paperback in a book store in Montreal. The authors have done a wonderful job and are to be congratulated for their excellent writing style. The authors are among the leaders in Canada and produce an excellent Canadian hedge fund database [...]. This book provides a wealth of information for potential and current investors in hedge funds and funds of hedge funds. This book should be in the library of accountants, lawyers, money managers, and anyone interested in hedge funds. Great book, provides insights into hedge fund strategies and can educate investors on how to protect their portfolio in down markets. Well done!!

The list of books written on hedge funds is a short one, and this book is certainly the finest on the subject. The professionals who contributed their specialized knowledge are of the highest caliber, and better yet, many of them can be reached for counsel. Any investor with the capacity to invest at this level ought to know the mechanics of the various methodologies as clearly presented by the authors. I found all of the information to be useable and valuable information with absolutely no filler. Particularly of interest to me was all of the legal, tax and regulatory information which quite literally provided me with a blueprint from which I will begin building my (as GP) Private Investment Partnership. This book will eliminate countless hours with a securities attorney because now I know exactly how to direct the counsel.

At first I was a little hesitant on the price of the book but I was very happy when I received it. I was amazed at the 19 new articles on hedge funds written by well-known academics and professionals. I had never seen these articles before. Some articles are slightly quantitative in nature but the information in this book is extremely valuable. The list of contributors reads like a who's who of the hedge fund industry. When compared to other hedge fund readers this book really contributes to the hedge fund literature. Never before have I seen so many high quality papers in a hedge fund reader. I am convinced anyone interested in new research on hedge funds will find this book as the best reader presenting cutting edge work. Ideal for money managers, hedge fund managers, pension funds, endowment funds, insitutional investors, fund of hedge fund managers, lawyers and high net worth individuals. Congrats on a great reader. Can't wait for their next reader.

I found the Hedge Me book to be extremely useful during my recent job search. Whether you are just getting started in a hedge fund career or have some experience, there is a lot of very useful information consolidated in one great source. I found the interview tips, compensation review, and the list of hedge fund recruiters to be particularly helpful.

The Book gives a good overview of the variety of Investments available. Since I have seen the Book before I ordered it there were no surprises.
