My 9 month old LOVES this book. We found it at the library, and it's one of his favorites. Like most babies, he likes books
with photos of baby faces, and this one, with the bright colors and different clothing, holds his attention. We've renewed
it once already and might have to buy it.
Sweet!

I borrowed this book from the library for my 17-month old son and then bought it within a week. It is a simple idea: babies
from around the world in their native dress with very simple text, but it's perfect. My toddler loves to look at other babies,
and loves the colorful, beautiful pictures in this book, This is a wonderful addition to any good book collection for children.
Perfect!

Our son (13 months) adores the beautiful faces of the babies in this book.
As the mom of a child adopted transracially, I love the kids of all colors and ethnic backgrounds.
I'll be giving this book as a gift to all the little ones I know.

Even though I have read this book over and over and over again to my granddaughter throughout her first year of life, I always
love looking at the beautiful babies from around the world. Babies in colorful clothing from such countries as Mali, Afghanistan,
Iraq, Spain, Peru, Guatemala, South Africa, and India, delight the readers each time the book is opened. This is a great way
to travel the world while sitting in a chair snuggling with baby.

This book was a great story for third graders. I wonder if the math concepts were lost on them or not. Jessie makes notes
about economic ideas like franchising and profit margins, which may be a little abstract for younger readers. There are some
wonderful math ideas within the story, however, like when Evan figures out division using pictures. It is a great conversation
starter on how people use different strategies to solve math problems. And the real-world number problems are fantastic!
The kids' parents are seperated and the father has left them. This isn't really a strong theme for discussion, other than possibly how it affects the kids' relationship. (i.e. they are actually really good friends and help each other a lot, complimenting each other's strengths and weaknesses.) Something to keep in mind. My students did not seem to even notice this part of the story.

My son's third-grade teacher is reading this book aloud to the class. He loves it so much he wants a copy of his own! It's
an honest, apt depiction of children's real emotions and behaviors. Like Beverly Cleary, Ms. Davies does not try to sugarcoat
kids' anger, fears, and how those can be acted out. Children clearly recognize and respond to this.
Out school also had the pleasure of bringing Ms. Davies in for an author visit. She made a real connection with the kids at all different grade levels, and won high praise from the teachers and school librarians! She has written other wonderful books, for pre-school through elementary.

I've got a sister just like Jessie, but I'm the smarter one, and we can both understand feelings. We're both misers, (Nora
a little bit more), But she likes lemonade stands way more. I really liked how they both sabotaged each other's money to become
the winner of the Lemonade War. I can also relate, because I play with Nora a lot, but if I found she was being promoted from
3rd to 5th, I would be the same as Evan. Jacqueline Davies sure can write a story about a conflict between a brother and a
brother. Even though it was 3rd person writing, she sure can write it from a kid's perspective! This is a really good book,
some people might say as good as Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (Book 7)(a really good book), or all the Harry Potter
Books. Kids (and even grownups) of all ages will like this book. I recommend this book to everyone who reads this, because
I know you'll like it!

The "Foxfire 40th Anniversary Book" is a wonderful tribute to the people of Appalachia as they shared memories of their lives
and culture with us. This book follows the same down-to-earth tone as the preceeding volumes. The earlier ones were very
informative and enjoyable, and this one certainly lives up to that standard.

Extraordinary Girls exposes you to the wonderful world of girls by introducing the reader to a variety of young women who
are doing extraordinary things all over the world. A great book for any girl. Also, this would be a great supplementary book
for use in a social studies class, or any class dealing with diversity and world studies.

Girls Can! Girls Do! If you have a daughter, have friends with daughters, or volunteer to help with girls' organizations,
get this book and ask them to take a look. Before you know it, they'll have read it from cover to cover. With a smile.
"Extraordinary Girls" is . . . extraordinary. It is inspiring. It shows girls how their peers around the world have set
goals for themselves, then have achieved or exceeded those goals -- how they have made their mark on the people around them.
Parents, friends, counselors -- and girls -- should read this book.

"The Goodriches" is a scholarly book about the impact of the Goodrich family's lives and the influence they exerted, not only
locally, but nationally and internationally. Events chronicled in the book are clearly the work of extensive research. Sheds
light on an important period of Indiana history. A must-read for fans of well told historical accounts!

I enjoyed and appreciated the opportunity to learn folk stories. These were stories that my own parents had forgotten about
from their childhood. It was nice to share this book with my parents as well as my younger family members. In the future,
I would like to teach my own children not only Mother Goose nursery rhymes but also stories from their family's homeland.
And the illustrations were wonderfully detailed and enjoyable to look at while reading the story in English or Tagalog.

Engagingly written by Sheila Kindade and enhanced with photographic illustrations by Elaine Little, "My Family" showcases
families of all sizes and from all parts of the world. Young readers ages 4 to 7 will learn that families can include not
only mothers and fathers, brothers and sisters, grandparents, uncles, aunts, cousins - and, of course, themselves. Kids will
also discover that some families around the world are much like theirs, while other families are different. But whatever those
differences may be, they are still families and all of us together make up one global family of human beings. Also available
in a hardcover edition, "My Family" would make a wonderful addition to any school or community library picturebook collection
for young children preschool through first grade.

I like the book, but wish it were less repetitive. I think that Andrew Tobias' book, The Only Investment Guide You'll Ever
Need, is more succint. I wish that he would update it given the new state of the economy. 3-4 years makes a huge difference
in tax laws.

Ok...so I'm a smart guy, but the in's and out's of the financial world always seemed more like Harry Potter's dark arts class
than something that would ever make sense to me. I'm happy to report that this book does a fantastic job laying it all out
in a way that makes perfect sense. I now have greater confidence in assessing my financial options, which is all anyone really
needs. I recommend this book strongly.
