I am an elementary school resource specialist in an urban school and was DELIGHTED to find this book for my students. My students love to solve word problems using the creative menus... they especially enjoy choosing a meal from the meal, then adding up the total cost. This book is ideal for students in 2-4th grade who are working on basic addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division facts. The authors have a keen sense of humor that my students enjoy.

This book is a great handbook for entrepreneurs. I use it for problem solving. If I have a sales issue, I review the sales section; management issue, the appropriate section. You can pick the book up anytime and get new insight into your business operations. Read it once all the way through...keep it close by as a reference too.

The root of something good

Although this is a book for women, I found that much of it applies to me as a man. Keehn's background in the financial industry didn't seem to get in the way of her understanding of psychology as it applies to prosperity. This book has a allot to offer, for many of us who crave to know more about how our thoughts and beliefs affect our relationship with money and more importantly our prosperity (or lack of) mindset. The author starts out by asking you a question that you may find VERY challenging, "Am I willing to be wealthy"? The answer seemed axiomatic, yet I found myself thinking about this for several weeks. This lead to some surprising findings that I have managed to reconcile due to my reading this book. I find it interesting that Keehn could start out with such a simple thought and have it impact me so strongly. I guess that is what great writing is all about - simple yet clearly impactful thinking. I digress.

I liked Keehn's playful yet prodding writing style. Her chapter on Judao-Christian belief systems is worth the price of the book alone. Many of our beliefs come from our parents and society in general (both deeply influenced by biblical teachings) and Keehn lays bare the fundamentals of how these can and do influence your thinking about money.

I highly suggest that if you want a better relationship with yourself and more prosperity in your life - run out and invest in this book and yourself. You will be glad you did!

I've read thousands of books. Honestly, this was the first time that I finished and wanted to contact the author and thank him for doing such a great job.

I can't imagine the time, effort, and resources that had to go into writing this book. The history, the timelines, the personalities. I especially enjoyed reading about the machinations of acquisitions, how sometimes BIG decisions were made on the fly, and how a tight management team can accomplish just about anything. Just a marvelously well-written book.

Anyone in business will enjoy reading about the growth, almost demise, and resurgence of a company with humble beginnings.

Thank you! Highly recommended.

this book has so many great ideas for teaching kids how to manage money at an early age. one idea to encourage children to give was to tell them you will match their giving amount, just like real jobs do. it also focuses on being thankful for our blessings, which encourages children to bless others who are less fortunate. they also show how to give a visual example (using plastic people and candies)of how blessed our nation is compared to other countries, based on population and resources per person.they also teach kids to tithe right from the start, which is definitely the way to go; then they don't know any different. this is a must-have.

If you're going to read one book on investing and one book only, this is the one! Really, you won't need any other - it's that complete and that good. Not everybody can invest in index funds, but you can and you very probably won't get a better result any other way.

Ecellent book about mutual fund

I thought that this was a very thorough book on mutual funds. Bogle brings to light many things that I wouldn't have known. The only problem is it requires good concentration to get through parts of this book as it can be a bit dry at times. Very good source of information overall. I would recommend it for someone to have as a reference.

An outstanding guide for investors

"There are intelligent ways to go about investing and less intelligent ways." So says John Bogle, one of the most influential money managers of the last 50 years.

Bogle was one of the leaders in making index mutual funds available to ordinary investors. Bogle's index funds, and others that followed his example, helped turn very, very ordinary investors into very, very rich investors. This book essentially explains why Bogle's investment philosophy succeeds so well.

The book concentrates on the three basic types of mutual funds: stock, bond, and money market funds; describes the three important characteristics that all investments have: risk, return, and cost; explains why different categories of assets -- stocks versus bonds, for example -- have different risk and return characteristics; and shows how to construct an intelligent, balanced portfolio that will help you meet your investment goals.

One of the keys to Bogle's strategy is the idea that, while investors don't have direct control over risk or return, they do have direct control over cost; and by choosing low-cost funds (index funds are very low cost!), investors can dramatically improve their results. One of the other keys to Bogle's strategy is the efficient market theory, which, among other things, supplies an important part of the theoretical justification for relying on passively managed index funds. Those aren't fun, sexy concepts, and Bogle's methodical discussions don't do much to make them more entertaining. On the other hand, they will help you make money if you understand and apply them, and making money through investing is both fun and sexy!

This book is over ten years old now, so it doesn't have much to say about exchange-traded funds, sector funds, or some other, recent developments in financial management, but the basic principles it describes can easily be applied to those new-fangled inventions too.

This is one of the best books I've ever read about investing.

There's not a lot of information in this book. Not worth the money to buy this book. The information written in the book is something you can get online. If you are really wanting to get more valuable information, I recommend the book "The Mystery Shoppers Manual" by Cathy Stucker.

Not too much information so that it's overwhelming, but just enough so that I know what I'm doing. This book gets to the point, and that is what I need. I don't need anyone with a PhD to tell me how to be a mystery shopper, just someone who's done it successfully before. This author seems to know what she's talking about. I heard her on the radio, and she also a recruiter for mystery shopping companies.

Actually written for Canadians, too

I'm very happy with this mystery shopping book. This shorter mystery shopping book (76 pages) is easy to read and has sections on how to get started as a beginner to how to start your own mystery shopping company. This book doesn't waste your time. Unlike the other mystery shopping books on amazon.com, this one actually has mystery shopping companies listed in Canada and information for Canadians. The other ones are only for America.

Writer Kailin Gow gives you a condense guide on mystery shopping. I was impressed how this simple guide can cover several aspects of mystery shopping from which industries could use mystery shoppers, what are the other jobs in mystery shopping besides being a mystery shopper, and ways mystery shoppers can own their own mystery shopping business. She doesn't give you false illusions, either, but lays out ways on how to become successful in the industry through smart business practices. She's appeared on over 30 radio shows and written in newspapers as an authority in mystery shopping in the U.S., Canada, England, and Australia. With a background in marketing and over 10 years of actual mystery shopping experience as a mystery shopper and recruiter, her credibility is solid. She may approach this book for those wanting to become mystery shoppers, but she also touches on how businesses can and should use mystery shoppers to help increase performance and service. I highly recommend this book if you want to learn more about mystery shopping, enter the business, or even think about hiring mystery shoppers.

The book may be small, but it contains valuable information you need to know to become a successful mystery shopper. You can save time and effort knowing how to get and apply to the many companies out there who hire mystery shoppers. I cannot tell you how satisfied I am with this book. I truly have gotten jobs right away and have worked steadily from the leads this book provides. Worth every penny.
