My 3 1/2 yr old LOVES Sam the Shark!! His preschool teacher loved it too - so much that she bought one. This is a fantastic book. Your kids will love the bright pictures, the easy-to-listen-to story, and funny ending. I've already had to repair this book a few times since we've worn it out from so much reading!

Lazenby broke ground in assesing the young star and leading the reader into wondering/predicting his future status in the basket ball sports arena. The book is a documentary of the young UVA phenom and the rucuss he created among Virginia Basketball enthusiasts

I have lots of books by the artist Tom Tierney and this is one of the best. He gives a brief history of each of the dolls starting with the birth of Saint Nicholas. He also shows a few international versions of the Saint in different eras. Mr. Tierney's artwork is always top notch and colorfull. An ideal gift or coffee table book at a great price!

It was brought to my attention that I had written a review for each book on my Listmania! List except this one.

We purchased this book some three Christmases ago (2003) and used it to keep the grand children occupied as presents were wrapped and cookies frosted. There are four little compartments with interesting cardboard cut-outs that fit just so in the story pages. Each of my grand children used both fine motor skills and "gross" motor skills to place the cardboard toys in the correct location on the proper page. When we were done, we had truly loaded the toys one by one, as the author, William Boniface writes,

"The toys are loaded one by one
As the reindeer tug and pull.
We know our job is finally done,
When Santa's sleigh is full!"

When Christmas was done, we packed away the 30 some pieces into the four different compartments. You can take the pieces for each page and put them in a separate compartment (everything in order) or you can just put them away until the next joyous Christmas.

Artscroll's work on the Chumash is inspiring, but the translation and annotation of the Talmud is positively monumental. The translations are excellent, and the myriad of commentary (Tosafos, Rashi, etc.) are emphasized when appropriate. It got its push from the worldwide Daf Yomi project, but it stands on its own for your reference shelf or personal study.
