"Racinet's Full-Color Pictorial History of Western Costume," by Auguste Racinet, is a marvelous collection of illustrations that record trends in European clothing. The cover and title page boast that the book contains 92 plates showing over 950 costumes from the Middle Ages to 1800. The copyright page notes that this book is a selection of plates from the 6-colume "Le Costume Historique" published in 1888.

Depicted are costumes from France, Spain, Italy, Russia, and other nations. Many different types of people are depicted: soldiers, clergymen, nuns, noblewomen, peasants, etc. The plates of military dress are particularly interesting; in addition to showing knights' armor and other clothing, the illustrations also show many different weapons. Horses in regalia are shown in addition to human figures. Also depicted are musical instruments.

The pictures include both individual figures and scenes depicting costumed figures in social interaction. Some famous people, like Elizabeth I of England, are depicted. There are some really colorful and ornate items, like elaborate ladies' headdresses. I really liked the illustrations of kilted Scotsmen. Along the way are some curious sights, such as a bizarrely dressed and masked Venetian penitent. Overall, this book is a marvelous and educational visual feast.

This two act comedy is for 15 men and 11 women. From the book's back cover:

"The U.S. Army establishes a missile base at Putnan's Landing, a quiet suburban town in Connecticut. The townspeople object and the public relations officer has his hands full if he's to keep open warfare from breaking out between the citizens and the Army. Things start off badly for the lieutenant and quickly get much worse. A historic pageant he hopes will improve relations turns into a fight just as his Colonel arrives! Then his girl gives him his engagement ring back again. This is something she does rather often, but that doesn't make him like it any better. Especially since he's been threatened with being sent to Alaska if anything else does go wrong in one of the most spectacularly funny scenes ever written. For, through an amazing series of funny incidents and acidents, one of hte missiles "which can't possibly" go off, does go off! It's a wonderfully wacky comedy which will delight everyone."

I read this book and thought it was awesome here is a summary.

Stephnie and her cabin may have lost the big water event, and lost her C.I.T. job but now she is in charge of the camp talent show! Now things are starting to become serious, the sets are torn up with green spray-paint,the speakers are gone, and more now its up to Stephanie and her friends to try and find out who is doing all this. On the day of the talent show the power goes out and there is a big thunder/lightning storm. Luke was to show up and watch Keith now Stephanie is scared even worse. Did Luke show up and has been doing all this, or was it Max,or even Keith? Cant tell you have to read that part for yourself, sorry. I hope you like my review and want to read this book I have to admit its hard for me to like a book.

This is an excellent resource. As a Drama Director, I have used several of these pieces in various drama class settings. The kids had an absolute blast performing them and they really helped them to learn several different acting techniques. There is a hysterical monologue in this for a girl and also a very funny (and with a good point) talk show skit that I've used several times with great results. If your working with older kids, this one is a must!

BUY the unabridged audio for this and you will NEVER regret it. Brian reads it himself and he has every character voice down pat because they were all stuck in his head for so many years. His history in the BBC also makes his voice in mesmerizing and enchanting so much that you will have a hard time turning it off. You need to buy the Redwall series because the story plays out over a few chronicles so do not just buy the first in the series get the first three. It is a great pick for those who would like more adventure with less magic. It takes place with woodland creatures and could also be considered a coming of age story.

A MONUMENTAL ONE-MAN ACHIEVEMENT

I PURCHASED THE COMPLETE HARDCOVER SET USED.
THIS WORK IS A MONUMENTAL EFFORT BY ONE MAN TO PROVIDE A COMPREHENSIVE COMMENTARY ALONG WITH GRAMMAR, SYNTAX, WORD DEFINITIONS, TRANSLATIONS WITH GRREK TEXT, TO THE ENTIRE NEW TESTAMENT.
I HAVE BARELY SCRATCHED THE SURFACE IN USING THIS RESOURCE, BUT IT PROMISES MUCH.
THE POTENTIAL BENEFIT OF THIS WORK, AND WHY I PURCHASED IT AFTER LEARNING OF IT, IS THAT IT PROVIDES SO MUCH AVAILABLE IN ONE WORK.
IT IS A TRIBUTE TO ONE MAN'S LIFE WORK!

Kudos to Dover for this edition of Berlioz's masterpiece. Besides the large size, it features the full Latin texts with English translations and a complete list of the monumental performing forces. I have followed this score numerous times with the Spano/ASO recording and have found it easy to follow each time. You can't beat the price, either--definately recommended for anyone that enjoys Berlioz.
