The Mystic Shrine Ritual is a great source for study and historic reference. I highly recommend it.

As I laughed my way through each chapter, I realized with a twinge that the slightly hysterical note I detected in some of that laughter was because...the author was describing ME!! She has taken the everyday joys and trials of raising children, being a spouse and running a household that countless women can identify with and skillfully woven them into a series of vignettes that are as true and poignant as they are hilarious. For wit and honesty with a bite, Mrs. Johnston writes like a female David Sedaris. Hope there's a second book in the works.

I have read a number of Intranet books. This book helped us address the fundamental areas to focus our attention on from the beginning. If you use the Netscape products or are a solution provider developing Intranets, this book is a must have. It is to the point, easy to read, and makes sense. It validates what a good Intranet methodology should look like and helps define the plan to make it happen. We've ordered this book for all our Intranet consultants. If you develop Intranets based around the Netscape technologies, you would be insane to not get this book.

I ordered this for my husband who really likes English hymn music (he is an organist). I had tried to find the original 1906 Vaughan Williams edition, but was unable to. However much of the preface etc includes the info in the original edition, and it appears most of the hymn tunes are there. Little different format than US hymnals in that most of the words are on the opposite page from the music.

We are a Title IX summer school class of soon-to-be third graders. Many of us are Potawatomi. We enjoyed reading about our ancestors although we do realize that this book is historical fiction. This is what each student had to say about Night of the Full Moon:

Reese-Fawn and Libby were friends. It's ok to be friends with white people.

Peter-I like it when Libby's father wanted to give Sanatuwa land so he could stay with them. It showed that he was generous and thankful to him for saving his daughter.

Jack-It was exciting and scary when the soldiers captured Libby with Fawn's family.

Darlene-It was a great story. I learned that the Potawatomi had to travel a long ways when they were forced from their homes. One soldier said 'Indians should be free just like he was' and he let them go.

Michelle-It was an exciting story to read. I felt sad that the Potawatomi were forced off their land.

Gabrielle-It was exciting when the girl was getting dragged from that soldier. I didn't like the soldiers and felt angry at them.

Frankie-I learned that the Potawatomi got kicked off the land. The white men brought smallpox disease and whiskey to the Indians and tricked them into signing treaties and giving away their land for a little money.

Danielle-I liked learning about what happened to the Potawatomi Indians.

Mandi-I liked the part where Sanatuwa brought Libby back to her parents.

Joseph-I just liked the book because I love reading books.

Michelle is excited, because her dad is taking her, and her sisters on a camping trip! Then, Michelle's dad sends Michelle to a camp. A girl named Elizabeth is Michelle's worst nightmare! First, she steals(not exactly) They don't like each other at all!

My daughter loves paper dolls. A friend gave this to her a few years back and finally my daughter has grown into it. Cutting out paper dolls is hard work - I start to get dents in my hands from it - but we talk while I am doing it. The cutting is way too detailed for most young children to do. As I cut out the the dolls we talk about whomever I am cutting out and what she did and why she is important.

My one issue is with the last doll, who is shown smoking a cigarette. It won't be hard to cut off, but I'd love for it to not be there. Yes, women smoke but that's not something I want my daughter to admire.

Novia Scotia quilt designs often are hung (as a diamond, or herringbone shape) versus the early American tradition of sqares. So, the patterns listed, are often on this angle.

Patterns include: Nine-patch quilts, square and triangle variations, Windmill "hung" with herringbone, basket quilt, t-square quilt, jacob's ladder quilt, snowball quilt, whirligig quilt, giant tulip quilt (with appliqued stems), and rose of sharon wreath.

The full-size pattern pieces are included, with 1/4" seam allowance included (my preference).

Octandre here has a scaled down content/gestures to it, so we can follow more the musical language in clarity; the tensions from the solo moments the opening plaintive, almost lamenting Oboe, then returning in the reedy Piccolo,then Bassoon as solo. The declamatory chordal punctuations in between. You always feel in Varese the endlessnesss to the power of timbre, of sound, like it can be projected into infinite spaces, although he in his work took great arduous pleasure in shaping his materials,giving them an endpoint to progress to in constructing them, rendering the obvious now scholarly descriptions of "blocks","beacons" "densities" of shapes,like the tension in a suspension bridge. He was not fond of program notes, and wanted his music to be free from any kind of narrative, or critique, and in retrospect his music does have that independence from comment,so I refrain from such associations;it does however have the modernity of the city,o the civilized/uncivilized world imparted within every inch of the work's content, we feel the present ofimpenetrable walls, and demarcations, endpoints, where we cannot go further, he tries to exploit the emotive crevices between those two voids, of the endless beacon he called it of sound and what can be limited through the physical lifeworld.Octandre is simply smaller proportioned than his other works, one herein of every instrument given, no percussion here, and I suspect it was a challenge to try his hand without the aid of the percussion world he was so fond of, and helped him formulate this innovativeness. The work has a miniature beauty to it,but not beautiful like a landscape more like the intersting gradations of seeing water splash(rain) gently against the power of a skyscraper standing here looking upwards.
