Living in America, where we lack any media coverage of national and international rugby, this book was a great personal story of a Welsh rugby superstar, as well as an interesting way to become familiar with the culture of international rugby. The story is amusing and well told, with great commentary on the sport and what it means to play it. I highly reccomend it to ruggers everywhere.

A note to parents and discussion questions round out this "must-have" for children's reading lists
Helpful Votes: 2 out of 2 total.
Review Date: 2007-12-03

Written by Dina Zeckhausen, an expert in the field of eating disorders prevention, Full Mouse Empty Mouse: A Tale of Food and Feelings is a rhyming children's picturebook with an important underlying message about the importance of drawing the distinction between emotional craving for food and true hunger. Chapters teach young people how to separate "food" messages from "feelings" messages and respond properly to each. A note to parents and discussion questions round out this "must-have" for children's reading lists and library collections, especially in today's era with its unfortunately high rate of child obesity. "With Tummy and Heart they stay in touch. / They eat enough, but not too much. / They talk about the way they feel, / And now they love their family meal!"

This Is The Work of A New Poetry God

Incredibly powerful poetry that shows the world for what it is: a magnificent nightmare of pain and joy, a brilliant collage of depravity and denial, of sadness and transcendence. Brian Young is an emerging genius. There is no other way to describe this idiosyncratic collection that will rip the spleen from your guts and shove it down your throat and still leave you feeling not pain, but wonder. When you finish reading this book you will feel you have been blessed. Read it! Read it! Read it!

I found a copy of this book about 15 years ago and have routinely used it -- many of the recipes are old friends by now. Having lost the book in my divorce, I'm now looking for my own copy.

This is not haute cuisine: this is simple fare. Yet, it has an elegance of it's own. The international breadth is delightful and serves as a conversation starter with friends who get to share these dishes. The recipes are simple and straight forward and lead to impressive entrees. Result: this is a book the novice can readily use, the experienced cook will delight in, and which all lucky diners will enjoy.

The Book of Sirach Needs Jan Liesen
Helpful Votes: 1 out of 1 total.
Review Date: 2002-09-13
This book is the doctoral dissertation written by Father Jan Liesen of the Netherlands for the Pontifical Biblical Institute. I was present at his defense in Rome on January 16th, 1998.
Sirach (also known as Ecclesiasticus) is part of the deuterocanonica, accepted as part of Scripture by Orthodox, Catholics and some Protestants, but not accepted by Jews and most Protestants. Because this book was not accepted as Scripture by the rabbis at the Council of Jamnia, the original Hebrew text of the book was lost. Nonetheless, the book continued to exercise some influence on Jewish thought, and there are some 80 quotations in the talmudic literature. Eventually partial Hebrew manuscripts surfaced in Cairo in the 1880's and at Qumran in the 1950's. It is now possible to attempt a reconstruction of the Hebrew original, but there are so many different redactions that it is not easy to establish the text. Liesen treats chapter 39 as a "test case" for his methodology for dealing with this elusive author. Liesen's book is indispensable to an informed study of Sirach.

A Wonderful Book Of Hope For Those In Prison
Helpful Votes: 0 out of 0 total.
Review Date: 2006-07-01
Those who are in prison may think that there is no hope for them to ever be forgiven, and made new again. This little booklet does a careful, warm, and Biblical job of encouraging these people, that God will forgive anything. That God is able and willing to give a full pardon to anyone who asks, and wants to become His child.

This booklet costs only $1.00 each from The Bible League. If you buy 200 or over, of one title, they cost only $.75. ea. I know this because I buy them and mail them free to people in prison in Nigeria.

Two others in the series, which are excellent, are: "Never Too Late", and "Who Cares When I Hurt?"

AMAZON - CAN YOU PLEASE START CARRYING THEM AGAIN? I LOVE ORDERING FROM YOU, BECAUSE YOU MAIL TO NIGERIA, WHICH IS VERY HANDY FOR ME!

I picked this up at Oliver Cromwell's house on a visit to the UK a few years ago; but just got around to reading it. It is far more interesting that I thought it would be. This book gives a historical perspective that I never realized even existed and is partially biographical, partly practical, and comes across as a statement by a man who really cared about his profession. There are grizzly portions to get though, but I think anyone interested in the social history of the industrial age will get a lot out of this. Enjoy.
