Sensual, Passionate, Erotically Sweet

Ms. Elliott has taken the "rags to riches" tale and given it a fantastic new twist. How many of us wake up some days to realize we're stuck on survive and dream of a rich, long-lost uncle who leaves his fortune to us? What if it came true? What if you could live your dreams?

Cherise Novack gets to do just that. But in order to keep her inheritance, she must keep a pact with Jovan Delonte...a centuries-old vampire. Piece of cake? No Problem? Right? Well, maybe, if Cherise wasn't having frightening visions of a past life, and could cool heated, erotic dreams of Jovan! Not that I blame her. Jovan is one heck of a sexy vampire who makes me hot just to think of him ;-)

Vampire 101 won't help you here. Ms. Elliott has her own vampire rules, and the one I like best is that Jovan doesn't need to drain his prey to death in order to survive. However, Jovan has a dark past that threatens to destroy his peace of mind and leave him to wander alone in darkness forever.

The love scenes are sensual, passionate, erotic and leave me with the feeling two people have truly loved through physical release. Very seldom do I come across an author with that level of skill.

FULL MOON INHERITANCE is a fantastic read! Plan to spend an afternoon lost in Jacqueline Elliott's world of imagination.

Learn where the saying "once in a blue Moon" comes from

Susan Tooke's museum quality paintings perfectly showcase Joanne Taylor's gentle, lyrical story explaining all of the phases of the moon and how time is measured by them in Full Moon Rising. Young readers ages 5 to 8 will learn where the saying "once in a blue Moon" comes from along with many other stories from moon-based mythologies. Enthusiastically recommended for family, school, and community library picture book collections, Full Moon Rising is further enhanced with a list of names used for full moon's throughout the world, and which reflect the climate and seasonal activities of different cultures.

Great Story

Romance and intrigue.... Laura Gordon gives us the best of both with this exciting story. A twenty-year old murder mystery is at the core of this story. The heroine of this story witnessed her mother's murder, and a trip to Australia years later to stay with family causes her to start remembering bits and peices of the murder. But a murderer lurks nearby, one who will kill if she discovers the truth of what happened on that fateful night years ago. This story is well executed with plenty of twists and chills, as well as a handsome hero who helps her as she discovers a truth too horrible to believe. Excellent read

Full Moon Stories

This book of stories is a rare treat to read. I couldn't get onto the next story fast enough. With each tale I was pulled straight into the home and at the knees of the storyteller, Grandpa Iron. I "became" one of his grandchildren, smudged by the cedar, leaning forward to hear every detail of the story about horse, moose, mole, swallow, and the nine other animals, one for each poetically descriptive Full Moon of the year such as "Moon of the Popping Trees" in December with turtle. I, like Grandpa Iron's grandchildren, relish and believe the stories! How hard it must have been for the children to wait one whole month for each new story.

I love the illustrations, both paintings and colored pencil drawings. They convey the character and movement of the animals so well. The colors are bright and entrancing; and the symbols painted on the animals are intriguing. They look so like the pictographs I have seen painted on hides in museums and reproduced from ledger books. There are stars, moon, lightning, mountains, the sun, and other ones which are yet a mystery to me.

As well as the stoies there are details of the children's and Grandpa and Grandma Iron's life on the Wind River Reservation: doing chores, packing to go to the Sundance, eating Grandma's stew and fry bread, and running barefoot in the snow. I have been to Wind River and could feel again through the book the vastness and intimacy of the land. This book is an outstanding model of how stories can be written and presented with enthusiasm for children.

I was actually hesitant to read Full Moon i was worried it would be a kids manga, but i was wrong. Full Moon is the best (but a little sad). It's a great manga, and everyone who likes Fruits Basket should read it.

Susan Hauser makes you actually look forward to being fifty!
Helpful Votes: 9 out of 9 total.
Review Date: 1998-11-07
With her wise and witty stories, full of insight and the kind of understanding only time can bring, Susan Hauser takes us away from our cultural conditioning, our dread of getting older. When we have spent a gentle evening with this poetic gifted woman, listening to her tales of her own coming of age, we begin to listen to the quiet wisdom of our own hearts. We laugh too, when Susan at a garage sale picks up a dress that had once been hers and holds it up to her now ample body. "I was thin once, and I missed it," she says. Some of us are fifty now, and we don't want to miss it. Reading Full Moon at Fifty is a joy.
