The Closets Are Empty...the Dining Room's Full is like no other autobiography you have ever read. Never expected to become published, it's a man's legacy to the kids who loved him. In 1964 he married a woman. In 1976 he "married" a man. It's no wonder that as he approaches his fiftieth birthday, he felt the kids deserved a more complete knowledge of this complexity they called Dad. He therefore explains not so much his deeds as why he did them. The kids already knew what he was doing and had heard over the years what he had done.

They knew he was psychic but never knew how it all began for him, or the incidents which changed his thoughts and philosophy. They had seen how much he valued friends and relatives, but he'd never shared how they shaped his life and granted a foundation.

They knew of his labors in the entertainment industry, but he'd rarely shared the little everyday tidbits of truth from his encounters with such legends as Mahalia Jackson, Irving Berlin, Jayne Mansfield. Mae West, John Ford, and Lawrence Welk. Nor has he shared the influence on his memory bank of Rhonda Fleming, David Soul, Dale Evans, John Badham, and Shelley Winters.

From these pages you'll learn of someone who was "different," who dared to finally accept the challenge and stop hiding. You'll learn that it is all right to be different. You will read of a dreamer who dared to try the impossible because he felt it might be something good for people, and although he was unable to make it a reality, it never broke his spirit.

In these pages, he set an example for the kids to, above all, live a life of love; to open the closet doors of their lives and dare to live in the truths they might believe. For him, it was important they learn to know who they are and will be tomorrow, who they have been becoming as a result of choices and a bit of chance.

You will learn how difficult it may be to empty a closet. The price of freedom usually is costly, but for Ace Lundon, the price has been worth it. The dining room of his life is now filled with those who have learned to love!

While reading "Revolution" I had a conversation with a freind, Linda, and she just purchased "The Coaching Revolution" on-line. I told Linda, I read through half of Logan and King (finishing up the excellent Core Values section), and said "You gotta look at getting this book..." Reading Logan and King is different experientially-- being that I'm reading some of what I have heard in conversations with John King. The book is an easy and quick read.

I'm reading Logan and King... and don't read books. I read text books and periodicals. I like Shakespeare and Eliot-- very prolific and also VERY dead.

Love the book. And it was particularly inspiring. Today I put my name in for a Function Manager position-- one that I am likely to be considered for, and also for a lead position in another project entirely. Thank you.

Set during the Congo war in the 1960s this book is unrelenting in its description of violence and brutality of that conflict that makes Veitnam look like a church social. Frisco Hitt does an excellent job of describing the cruelties that man is capable of and gives you the feeling of actually being there and unlike the current downplay of violence trend in most books and movies the main character fully embraces it and understands the ruthless nature of African combat.

A warm, wise, wonderful book about honoring relationships.
Helpful Votes: 0 out of 0 total.
Review Date: 1998-12-29
Coming Full Circle gently shows the reader how to treat relationships themselves with kindness and respect. Nancy VanArsdall skillfully weaves the color of narrative into the fabric of her wisdom. By doing so, she demonstrates that relationships have their own lives and their own rhythms. She encourages us to respect the relationship itself, rather than trying to make it fit some preconceived notion.

The book describes the way in which relationships wax and wane in a natural rhythm over time--in cycles that repeat themselves. Understanding these rhythms has helped me to recognize changes in relationships as natural occurrences--and thus my fear of and anxiety about those changes has decreased. The reader of Coming Full Circle will learn to watch a relationship the same way one watches a sunset or sees the seasons change--with delight in the process.

Coming Full Circle is a warm, wise, wonderful book.

For a topic as erudite as terrestrial mycology this is an excellent book for nearly any snail enthusiest. Although it is geared mostly toward the scientific community, amateurs should find it very useful. It classifies more than 2,000 species of landsnails in scientific order giving their name, scientific name, who first published them, size, where they are (were) found, and a colored photo. This book unfortunately seems to be too rare but anyone who can get a copy should find it invaluable in identifying many exotic snail species.

This is a beautiful book that vividly recounts the story of two Baltimore sisters who never got married and who, in the early XXth century, became two of the foremost modern art collectors in the United States. Following a chronological pattern, it is full of previously unpublished photographs (the authors are the great-niece and great-great-niece of the Cone sisters)and marvelous illustrations of the paintings acquired by Claribel and Etta Cone, paintings which today form the core of the Baltimore Museum of Art collection. The text is lively and replete with anecdotes that give a good idea of the artworld in Paris (Picasso, Matisse,Gertrude Stein, the art dealers, etc) and of the society of a medium-size industrial city in the United States during the first three decades of the XXth century.

Light, but good reading
