Rage becomes "slow like glass as a verb" in this amazing collection of poems. I really enjoyed the insights into both the
Korean and American cultures and languages, from a unique perspective. Where do people such as Asian adoptees fit into the
narrative of America in general, and specifically Asian America, which has a long history, and isn't going anywhere but deeper?
Read this book for beautifully-rendered clues.

"Lift Ev'ry Voice" provides teachers with an extraordinary array of primary sources to use in their classrooms. User-friendly
guidelines give educators dozens of ideas for how to have students learn about the abolitionist press, the Underground Railroad,
black activists and more. All the images, letters, diary entries, cartoons, and more are right there on a CD that comes with
the book. An amazing resource.

As a librarian, I am often asked for the "best" books to use in the classroom. If a teacher wants to incorporate African-American
history and voices into their curriculum, this is the series for them. Book 5 of the series, focusing on the beginning of
the 20th century, industrialization and civil rights, is one of the most popular. So many teachers are charged with teaching
about civil rights and they seek to find new, fresh stories to use with students. These books not only have historical information
before each chapter, they also offer student activities and questions for discussion and each book includes a CD with primary
source documentation. The set of 5 books is for teacher use and the CD can be used to make handouts to use with the students.
It is quite an innovative and useful series and this book is excellent. If you are a teacher looking to bring history alive
and to challenge your students to become historians instead of reading the interpretations and opinions of others, this series
is for you.

I purchased several of Tom Tierney's historical paper doll sets to augment my family history projects. I have 150 years of
family photos which are mostly in black and white, of course, so it's great to see the period clothing in detail and in color.
The paper dolls will add so much to my research and my family's appreciation of the historical times and stories. Although
I intend to keep the paper dolls uncut, they are printed on card stock which would be easy to cut and not tear apart if well-cared
for.

What a surprise to see such a creative Southwest cookbook. The recipes are not only healthy but sparkle with the zesty flavors
of "red rock country." I made the soft-cheesy crackers Wiseman calls "Devil's Kisses" and was dazzled with the great flavor
and the zesty touch of chipotle heat, caught me off guard. Indeed a pleasant surprise. As for the photography, what more appealing
photos could you ask for. Whomever this fellow Chris Marchetti is he sure knows how to take food shots. This book should
be on the shelves and in the kitchens for a long time. I hope Wiseman does another. Pennigan

What a romp. What an assortment. Sad and serious to roll on the floor funny. White-collar pirates and filthy grunt pirates,
noble pirates and confused pirates. I enjoyed all of the stories, don't make me choose a favorite. Gotta like the publisher's
offer at the back of the book, too. I'll be signing up for 30% off the next books in the series.

This book gives a wide variety of authentic Spanish tile designs - with no writing. The pictures are printed on only one
side, quality, hi gloss paper, and is truly a beautiful book - far exceeded my expectations. I purchased it as reference
because I was designing a Spanish tile design quilt. Very helpful.

This is a great bible for reading if you have trouble with reading bibles with white paper and the letters bleedthru the other
side. None of that with this bible AND the words are easier to read and see due to the color in the background. I find that
out of the dozens of bibles I've owned this is the one I'm able to sit down and read the longest without eye fatigue. Also
is a nice quality bible with nice with an exclusive color study emphasis. I purchases the duo-tone and prefer the feel over
the bonded leather. This is my second color bible. The first one I took too many notes but it's still in great shape. Has
held up well.

This Bible is really cool. All the verses are color coded to 12 different colors representing different things like God,
family, faith, sin, commandments, history, love, discipleship, evil, salvation, outreach, prophecy. It helps to read the
scripture in context with this color coding system. All the words of God in the OT and the NT are written with Bold underlining,
like some NT's has Jesus' words in Red, this one takes that concept and applies it to the whole Bible.
This translation is the NIV. It has a lot of helpful cross references taken from the NIV Study Bible. This used to be called "The Rainbow Study Bible", I have the KJV in that and this one is exactly like that one with just a different translation and name. I prefer this kind of Bible that has helps, but doesnt tell you what to believe.
I bought the Brown bonded leather edition. I would have preferred to pay a little more and get a geniune leather edition, but they dont make a geniune leather edition which is a shame. But this bonded leather edition is nice.
It comes with a bookmark so that you dont have to keep looking up what the colors represent at the front of the book, which is nice. It comes with book introduction, outlines, and as I mentioned earlier a nice cross reference system. It has some in text maps and pictures which help with putting the Bible in its proper context. It also has some maps in the back, with an NIV concordance. As well as some study aids in the back like Table of weights and measures, know what God says, 100 popular Bible passages, 365 scriptures to memorize and meditate on, One year Bible reading plan, personal Bible reading calendar, subject guide, where to find it, outline of Old Testament in history, plus the concordance and maps I mentioned earlier. So as you can see this could be a total all in one Study Bible if its all someone had access too.
I prefer the NASB translation to the NIV. But my Church uses the NIV, so this is going to be my devotional and Church Bible. As I mentioned earlier I have the Rainbow KJV and like it a lot, but its harder to understand the older english, plus I wanted to have a copy of the translation used in Church so I can follow along without confusion. Im real impressed by this Bible, just wished they would make a Calfskin edition or something equally nice for a cover so that this Bible would last a lifetime. The contents of this Bible is second to none and thats what counts. Im glad this was made available.

This is audio theatre at its best! AudioFile rates it as one of the best new releases - "A blackly humorous melodrama."
Most people know the tale of the murderous barber and his partner in crime, Mrs Lovett, the local meat pie producer. This
is a delightful retelling of the tale based on the original Victorian "Penny Dreadful" - stories released in serial form in
a London rag. This production is a small touch racy and completely lurid.
