Burt has a style of writing that clearly and directly points back to what we are in essence. He wastes no words nor does he rely on words to point to that which is indescribable - but simply reveals the open invitation to know WHAT YOU ARE.

Masterfully written and highly recommended book!

The words in this book will not tantalise you with lofty other worldly desriptions of heaven on earth experiences. You will not be invited to any adventure whereby the destination is happiness!

In his book "Full -On Being", Burt Jurgens skillfully choses words and phrases that cut through the usual excess verbage that clutters an otherwise direct knowing. Instead these words and phrases fly straight back to the reader in warp speed with startling accuracy .....so much so that all you are left with is.... what is! Right Now Forever!

the most profound book I have read on multi-infarct dementia

As I watch my husband in the subtle and beginning stages of this agonizing disease and read June Shiplett's Glass Full Of Tears, I can only imagine my years of care-giving yet to come. Her log of her husband's vascular dementia is becoming my calendar as well. Most books are written about Alzheimer's and even though multi-infarct dementia is a kissing cousin of alzheimers, there is a behavioral difference. Shiplett is walking me through my days and I wish I could hug her for writing this book...... it seems it is written just for me.

a very touching and honest account shared with dignity & lov

It is hard to put in writing how the book effected me. It was very moving and helped to understand some of the emotions that we experience when care giving to a loved one. I appreciate Mrs. Shiplett sharing such a private and special part of her life. It is by far her richest Love Story she has written.

"The Glass Half Full," is a sweet release of emotions. It's an honest work of poetry filled with sensory stimulating imagery and a poetry book that will take you back to the times your heart was broken or the times you found yourself searching for answers in life. Samuel Isaias Lora writes confessions that many would not dare to say; it's the honesty and wisdom in his words that will keep you reading.

Let's see what can I say about The Glass Half Full by Samuel Lora. First off I must say I was not impressed. Mostly, because I've read a few of his poems prior to the release of this book. That being said from prior reading I gain a since of his writing skills and yes the book lives up to all the high expectation that I have for this young artist.

The lyrics, word choices and verses were not elementary at all, quite the opposite actually. The use of bold letters, spacing and different fonts added to the mystery of trying to decode hidden messages.

This book describes what it's like to love

If you grew up in the 1930s, 40s or 50s, you must read The Glass Half Full: Remembering Midlothian for all the memories it brings. I loved the connections to my own childhood, the train depot, hankies, canning, games, and even a homemade angel foood cake. Until reading this book, I never knew the meaning when we said, "Olly, Olly Oxen" during a game of tag. If you grew up after the 50s, you should read this book to find out what life was like in towns across the US.

Donna Gorrell, who I know personally through part-time study in Minnesota (where she teaches) during my English program, has provided a very personal and interesting outlook on especially the 30's and 40's, when the US was absorbed by the depression and the upcoming war. It is a well-written and interesting account - sometimes funny, sometimes sad, sometimes critical of the times - but always interesting. Good read!

Paper Doll Perfection

I have loved the Tom Tierney books for some time. When I am directing a new play I use his books as reference materials quite often because the images are so easy to see, and really help me to find the right language when I start working with the costumer. This particular book, with its wider range of featured designers and very different looks, is especially nice. The only con, and it is a small one, is that the paper doll forms seem to be somewhat smaller than the forms in some of his other books. Still, an overall wonderful book!

This is one of my favorite Tom Tierney paper doll books. The dolls look as if they've stepped straight from a 1950-s magazine, and the outfits are beautifully drawn. The detail is especially lovely on the lace gowns and the colors throughout are superb.
The outfits chosen for the book are a great summary of the wardrobe of an elegant, wealthy woman of the fifties. The only items which should have been included but weren't are bathing suits and draped evening dresses.

I had this paper doll book about 16 years ago when my mother was despairing at my inability to use scissors neatly, and it ended up being very helpful. I had no idea it was still in print. The illustrations are lovely and detailed, and I remember the paper being well-printed, and good quality. Dover books are usually excellent. Recommended either for the purpose I had it for, or to browse through. Great Fashion Designs of the Victorian Era also had some very nice designs.

Tom Tierney has put together a wonderful set of paper dolls in this book. He has beautifully traced the development of fashion during the course of the twenties. Included are sportswear, elegant daywear, sumptuous evening gowns and a fabulous wedding dress by Worth. My favorites were the fur wrap over a drop waisted dress by Louiseboulanger, a look often seen in photos of film stars of the era, and the Egyptian gown fit for a vamp like Theda Bara. I also like the resemblance of one of the dolls to Mae Murray as it adds a touch of authenticity.

Getting through the storm

Rachel Loftin grew up with success on her mind. Meeting and falling in love with David Morin wasn't exactly her plan, but when it happened, she embraced it wholeheartedly. Going through the years with her husband seemed to be the pinnacle of her life, until she was diagnosed with breast cancer. Suddenly, the world as she once knew it came crashing down around her, especially when the husband she so dearly loved shut her out as if SHE were the disease.

Ironically, after her divorce, Rachel finds out that she never had breast cancer, but was misdiagnosed. Feeling empty and alone, she leaves everything and everyone dear to her in California in an effort to "find" her true self. Stumbling to Rosedale, the home of her father, Rachel begins to learn that when life throws you punches, you don't have to fall down.

Meeting someone new was never her intent; self-love was the main goal. While listening to the town's history, she also learns about a love story and family feud that spans across generations. With this new knowledge, and a new love interest, Rachel sees life through a different pair of eyes.

HALF MOON, FULL HEART is a wonderfully woven tale of self-appreciation, true love at its finest and rebirth. With its colorful, rich, fairytale-like essence, this is sure to have you either getting a tissue or jumping for joy. Gene Cartwright has outdone himself with this novel, which is not just African-American literature, but a fine crossover in literary genre. If you're ever in the market for something different, this is a sure read that won't disappoint.

Harmonielehre: Full Score

It is rare to be able to obtain a conductor's score for a major orchestral piece by a living composer. Most of the time they are only available to performing organizations on rental. It is to the credit of John Adams and his publisher that this excellent score is available at a modest price.

An amazing musical landscape is an equally amazing musical score.

John Adams' "Harmonielehre" is quite the expansive piece of music. Broad, gargantuan brass melodies and chords accompanied by frantic woodwind and string whirling dervishes - it is an enjoyable and mesmerizing experience just listening to it.

The score is just as expansive and very daunting upon first laying eyes upon it. It is rather large, and each page is clear and easy to follow. The major difficulty in the score (which seems to be typical of all John Adams scores) is that the music Adams writes is sometimes so densely packed with notes that it is not always clear as to which instrument has the melody. This, however, is not a complaint. I wouldn't want Adams to write his music in any other way. Another challenging aspect to the score is the various shifts in tempi and time signatures which are quite frequent, and there is an extraordinarily high degree of individual interpretation (where the conductor is concerned). In terms of performance, only a conductor of the highest calibre who knows the ins and outs of such a piece of music could take on this work of enormous breadth and emotion. I love this score. It is an absolute work of genius, and one that I hope to play and/or conduct in the future.

This is an excellent comprehensive medical text covering practically every aspect of Internal Medicine.
A must for the Primary Care Physician.
Personally, I would get the two volume set as the single thick back has a tendancy to break away from the binding.

My son is a HUGE Harry fan! The books do a great job of exposing children to different species of dinosaurs, and this one is a favorite of ours. My son loves the interaction between Harry and his dinosaurs and this book is a lot of fun.
