Writing in a down to earth manner with liberal doses of humor, Ms. Smith sounds like she would be a great neighbor - caring and wise with wonderful, practical advice. I highly recommned this easy to read book to anyone who is looking for new ways to keep a positive focus on themselves and life.

If ever there was a textbook that could turn America's drive toward mediocraty, this is it. Demming would be ill with envy if he had only a chance to read it. This book is also very interesting to read, filled with captivating stories that relate to real-life situations that the author, Mr. Cappels, has solved. It reamins out of print, it will be worth a trip to the locat library.

This novel exceeds in character depth , beauty of language, and historical resonance like no other I have ever read .Incomparable.Some may attempt to feel American; some may come close..........but this is, unquestionably, the finest novel written by an American, about Americans,(ideal, imperfect, heroic, and oh so gracefully flawed) as one can ever hope to dream of reading.......This book is my restful dream, my hot summer night, my broken heart, my bullet-proof vision, and the reason my first born son will bear the name Augustus...

The best book I've read on this subject!

If you love choral music, you have to love Brahms; if you love Brahms, you have to love his Requiem. It is obvious why this work brought him broad recognition: it is touching and inspiring. This is a must-have.

Dover does an extraordinary job in developing a quite accurate version of the German Requiem. Many consider this piece to be one of the best written in the Romantic Era. Brahms's originality and experimentation between the marriage of both the orchestra and chorus make this piece absolutely one of a kind. Strongly recommended for any listener and Dover's flawless edition is the best around if the listener wants to see the piece as Brahms visioned it.

This is a phenomenal book!!!. The best part of the book are chapters 2 & 3 where there are the yoga type exercises and illustrations of these exercises that you can do anywhere, anytime and these really help combat everyday back pain and they also help by stretching your body. On page 122, he talks about reducing stress and this is also a great chapter. Page 77 is about nutrition and that was really interesting especially the piece about orange juice.

Back Pain Is Not Normal

Many people simply choose to live with back pain. They think having back pain is normal - but it is not. This book really hit home in getting that message across. Being able to determine what type of pain I was having, where it was coming from and what type of doctor would be the best for me based on the self-diagnosis portion was so enlightening. I sought the care I needed and am now pain free. The exercise section was also helpful in teaching me what I need to do to stay pain free. Chances are everyone you know will need this book at one point in their lives - make sure you tell them about it! An easy and informative read.

helpfully yours

Rug hookers too

I sometimes quilt. USually I quilt and then try to make a hooked rug to accompany it. THe good thing about this book is it allows you pick and poke at the full-size templates to create your own era or modern day quilt. I find that inspirational rather than just being a drone and copying.
Another thing I liked, was understanding how fabrics and fabric colours changed over the years. WHile there isn't much descriptive info on it in the book, it's really highlighted and then brought to life on the pages themselves.
All in all, quilters, and hookers who either want to be very traditional or not, should benefit with this book.
And personally, I have found the whole B&H series on quilting
superb.

One of the best quilt books I own....

Better Homes and Garden books have sure improved since I became disenchanted with them in the 80's. And this is an excellent book no matter if you are a beginner or more accomplished at quilting. It is in an easy to use large spiral book form which makes laying it open as you work on one of the quilts or refer to a procedure for making quilting easier much easier.

It is laid out in a decades genre, where 1830-1860, 0n into 1920-1950 and borders are discussed in excellent detail with clear photos and exact size templates you can copy and use. Since I am fond of the Sunbonnet Sue (page 168) quilt my Grandma Katie made for my bed and dolls cradle I wanted to learn how to make one myself.

I make quilts but they are self designed appliqué types and I wanted to discover the old quilt arts. Although the crazy quilts shown (page 104) come close to what I do.

I personally don't know anyone who wouldn't find this excellent book helpful and being well used. Everytime I start to put the book away I realize that I need it out since I am always doing some type of quilt work....

"Do you like fun, interesting and enjoyable books to read? If you do this is the book for you, "THE GREAT PET PROJECT." Michele Tanner the main character of this book does both. Michele wants her very own puppy; she has wanted one her whole life she says to her best friend Cassie who has just received a puppy herself. So she goes to her family to ask for one, but when they say NO, she comes up with an interesting way of showing them she can take care of a pet, she'll show them. So she decides to bring home the class mice, she says to herself, "What could go wrong with a few little mice?"

In this book Michelle comes up with an interesting way of convincing her family to let her get her own pet. Well my mom had done the same thing when she was a kid, only she brought home hamsters over the weekend. To show her parents she could take care of a pet just as well as Michele Tanner did.

I really liked this book. I liked it so much I read it in less than four hours; the only time I set the book down was to eat. This book keeps your attention all the way throughout the book. There are many reasons I liked this book, but the three I remember the most are, its interesting and enjoyable to read, it passes by in time, and it's also very fun to read. It's interesting and enjoyable to read because I couldn't even set the book down even for a matter of seconds. I tried to once but it didn't work out for me. It passes time by quickly, you may feel like you have only been reading for less than one hour but, you have really been reading for three-four hours. That's exactly what it done to me; trust me it really is that fun to read. It is also very fun to read, but if you're not much of a reader you may think that I'm weird, but I chose to finish reading this book instead of going outside to play and joke around.

I would recommend this book to anyone that likes the TV show Full House and who enjoys reading. Girls between the ages nine-fourteen would probably enjoy this book most. People who don't like reading, boys of all ages, and people who dislike the TV show Full House probably wouldn't like to read this book though I would still recommend this book to people who dislike reading.

Will Michele ever actually get her own pet? Find out by reading this wonderful book called The Great Pet Project. Read it and you will find out. I promise, but wait that's not all, you'll also go through many, many interesting and stunning facts. Oh Yeah and don't forget about the class pet, the mice, "What do you think will happen?"

Michelle's family thinks she's too young to take care of her own pet. Too young? She'll show them. Michelle brings the classroom mice home for the weekend. Once her family sees how well she can care for them, Michelle's sure to get a dog! After all, what could go wrong with a few little mice?

One of the reasons I love these paper dolls by Tom Tierney is that they capture the magic and star quality of Greta Garbo. The book is clearly aimed at adult customers, whether they be Garbo fans, paper doll enthusiasts or students of costume design.
As someone who fits into all three categories, I loved the portrayal of Garbo. There are three dolls showing her at different times during her career, and the first two in particular are very life-like. I also enjoyed seeing the development and growing sophistication of costume design from the silent era until the early 1940-s. The costumes from "Mata Hari" and "Camille" are especially lovely.
My only complaint is a small one. I would have liked to see more than just one costume each from two of Garbo's greatest roles: "Queen Christina" and "Anna Karenina".

Care to take on a dare? I bet you cannot read Half Full without tearing up. You may not even be able to read it without a box of tissues at your side. Frankly, I had to read one story at a time, and take breaks between the essays so that I could compose myself!

Azriela Jaffe is a shining example of why life for an optimist is always half full. She sees good in the stories of others, and she makes their lights shine by bringing hope and encouragement to the world through this book.

Despite all of the international problems we face today, despite the economic woes of our national economy and despite any other negativity in our world - Half Full is a chance to sit back and relax with others who see life from a positive perspective, and who have personally taken on their own challenges to find individual success beyond belief.

I never tire of hearing about the inner strength that people have. I am never bored by hearing the life-stories of what others have to endure to find themselves. I love hearing about the struggles and seeing visions of the success smiles through the eyes of the writers.

My own essay was blessedly chosen by Azriela for inclusion in Half Full. I cannot say that my story of optimism and love compares to the stories of others, but it does fulfill the important lesson that Ms. Jaffe wanted to convey when she started writing this book - it is a story of hope and of triumph.

I highly recommend Half Full. If you took my dare, you probably lost. But, that's ok - look on the bright side - you had a great read!

The stories in this book help you realize how lucky you really are! Everyone has had their share of life-changing events, and you may even find a story within that is similar to yours in some way. The difference is the power of positive thinking. The 40 stories in Half Full show how you can make the best of what you are going through just as these authors did. My family is going through hard times (yet again), and Half Full has helped me feel far more optimistic about it all. It can surely give you a boost as well, whatever your situation. I plan to get several more as gifts.

The truth about God's claim of righteousness

Review Date: 2002-04-06
This is one of the most important books written on the subject of God's righteousness. This is a 21st century book. It's an easy to read book for the layman. It's an excellent study guide for the serious Bible student and scholar. It's an compelling book filled with fresh revelation that edifies the soul. This book is a wakeup call to those people that think because they are a "good person" and yet have no relationship with God, but think they are in upright standing with God because of their "good person" perception of themselves. Here's the message. God is not looking for good people. He's never looked for good people. He looks for righteous people! Hell Is Full Of Good People! But the righteous man finds his way home to God. I love the fresh definition of righteousness that this book gives. It points out that righteousness is: "God's claim of authority upon our lives through Jesus Christ and we submitting our wills to him." This the kind of plain bottom line truth we need to know in America. This book confronts the scholar and the street philosopher alike. This book is a fresh wind blowing to reach men's soul without being offensive yet confrontational enough to stop and make you think about your relationship the Creator of life. This book surprises you on every page with something to think about. It's an excellent book. I give it five stars!
