With lots of pictures, this manual is something I wish I had bought long ago. It helps first-timers do things like change the oil, and hardcore pros overhaul engines and transaxles. It shows how to take apart consoles and such which almost look inpermeable at first. Power antenna on the fritz? It's in here. Need new brakes? It really is not hard, and if fully detailed and illustrated in this book. This is just a really essential tool for you, and is just as valuable as your ratchet wrench.

If you have no other book about carousels, this is the one to have. Not only does the book illuminate the history of carousels, dispelling some common myths along the way, but the step-by-step, well illustrated process of carving a carousel is clearly explained in easy to understand terms. As Bruce's identical twin brother I can attest to the heart, mind and artistry that goes into every one of Bruce's creations. Many years ago I received a call from Bruce and he pleaded for my help. I replied that I had no knowledge or skill. Bruce persisted and taught me how to carve carousels using the same steps and techniques described in this book - several of the carousels I have carved are pictured in this book. Perhaps one of your creations will be in his next book!

Although this magnificent book is being marketed as a strictly how-to book, as a lover of carousels I attest to the fact that this book includes more history and delightful anecdotes about carousels, horses, designs and designers than any other book ever. Bruce encourages you to set your imagination free. Also, there is a step by step structure showing Bruce's one of a kind process. Even if you don't carve or don't want to start, it is still enlightening to see how this present day master carver makes lovely masterpieces for carousels and living rooms.

A Chair Full of Heart is a heart-rending tale of the ups and downs a daughter and mother go through until they come full circle to realize what's really important. It's a there-but-for-the-Grace-of-God-go-I kind of story.

I highly recommend it for mothers, daughters, granddaugthers, and sisters.

The Children of the Anarii was the most addicting book I have ever read. As I was reading, I pictured the text in a movie format, fearing that if I put the book down, I would miss something vital to the story line.
I have never read a fiction novel that was so developed in the characters and scenarios that I felt included in the story. Anyone who enjoys reading about things not usually discussed in main-stream fiction would absolutely love this book. As soon as I found out there were additional books, I found a place to order them. I want to thank Bek for supplying a book to the public that is so inspiring and thought provoking.

I became engrossed in the Children of the Anarii series of books, after reading the first book! These books are ground-breakers into a whole new literary art form, what I would call, spiritual fantasy fiction. These books take you on a spiritual fantasy, with words of wisdom for every persons spiritual growth, thrown in for good measure. My suggestion for book one - there is a dictionary and pronunciation guide at the back of the book.

Fantastic! A light for the soul and heart.

Alii M. Bek does a truly wonderful job of taking the reader on a journey into a world of fantasy with mystical creatures, as well as ordinary human beings with all their fear and prejudices (where truth is hidden & feared). Along the way, there is romance, adventure, and soul searching awareness. This book is definitely a must for those searching for enlightenment into their own souls. The sequel is eagerly awaited.

A genuinely enjoable novel.

I love a good fantasy, and that is precisely what Bek has crafted. From the first pages, the world of Elidar springs to full-blown life, peopled with mystical beings as well as ordinary humans, rife with conflict, mystery, danger, and adventure. Even romance is an element in the journey of Morgana, a young woman unaware that she is a Talent of the first order, chosen for a destiny of great importance. The LandsHolders have repudiated the Mirii as "witches", distrusting them for the unnatural powers they acquire when they meld with Azerii, light-beings capable of taking human form as well as those of several animals. When Morgana is mysteriously "called", her aunt reveals her own hidden Mirii status and persuades her to join her at the Gathering of the Mirii in a distant region. Events along the way reveal Morgana's special status, drawing in the various inhabitants of Elidar as ally or enemy. With a sure hand, Bek creates a realm which operates totally on its own inner structure and in which every aspect is thought out. A genuinely enjoyable novel! Chosen is a compelling book. I agree with the other ratings above. One comment I would like to see brought out is that Alexsana, the main female chararcter, often acts on her own instinct. Like most humans, she sometimes puts her decisions before the Lord...and at other times, just acts on her own judgement. She often ignores the counsel of Godly friends. She pays a price for this. Let's admire Alexsana, but look at her realistically. I highly recommend this book. It will stay on my shelf for years to come.

Another great BBC production of the Narnia Chronicles. The only thing I could wish for is that the Emerald Witch didn't sound so terribly old. I feel she should sound more youthful and enchanting, but she sounds rather grandmotherish. Prince Rilian sounds quite a bit older than one usually imagines him, but the actor who plays him is fantastic. Eustace and Jill add a lot to the production with their chemistry, and Puddleglum steals the show. I should also mention that Brian Sibbley adapts this version lengthily to include more interaction between Prince Rilian and other characters before his enchantment, which is very intriguing.

Narnia... where owls are wise. where a prince is put under an evil spell. What made me pick this book is my cousin, Jefrey. he gave me this book when I was little. It begin when two kids get chased by some people & they decide to hide in a closet. There are four main character's
the witch, the prince. Eustace, & Jill. The witch puts the prince under a spell. Eustace & Jill is the people who save the prince.

Review of The Last Battle Radio Theatre Drama

Review Date: 2002-09-30
The other reviews are of C.S. Lewis's book "The Last Battle." If you are not familiar with the Chronicles of Narnia, then it might be helpful to read those reviews. If you're familiar with the series, read on to hear what we think about the radio dramas!

We own all of Focus on the Family's Narnia Dramas that have been published to date (Sept 2002, and the Last Battle is next/last to be published in Oct 2002). We LOVE them all! Our son is 3 yrs old, and he will sit through almost an entire CD (all of the dramas are 2-3 CDs each), listening to the adventure! It's a great way to get him involved in the world of Narnia, and a wonderful alternative to T.V. One of the things that my husband and I enjoy about the series is that it is also captivating to adults. The actors are all British (as was C.S. Lewis), with an introduction by Douglas Gresham, Lewis's stepson. The actors maintain their roles throughout the series; for instance, the actor who plays the role of Eustace in "Voyage of the Dawn Treader" is the same actor who plays that role in "The Silver Chair;" the actor who plays the role of Aslan is the same in all the dramas. In a presentation that has many characters, it's helpful to be able to recognize the voices from one CD to the next.

We HIGHLY recommend all the CDs in this series. They're a great way to pass the time on car trips, and a wonderful way to encourage a child's (or an adult's!) imagination. They are wholesome, and have a clear message that good will prevail over evil, and that love and forgiveness are qualities to be cherished. Buy the whole series!

I read this book with my children (ages 13, 11, 7). They were more than enthusiastic about the book! They enjoyed the story content and thought that it would make a nice addition to our Church's library.

I felt that the book addresses not only diversity issues, but makes it clear that other people's beliefs are ok, and that we should respect this. It was well written and easy to understand. I give it a 5 star!

I have black and white also. The color is quite something.

My physician looked over treatments in the book with me, and admitted we had tried the six things that were supposed to work from some articles in journals. They did not work. Schaller says this. It could have saved me time, money and annoying medications (or herbs from "experts" with no research and of no use).

Review Date: 2008-08-28
Once again, Dr. Schaller has produced another incredibly useful and well-written book for anyone who has experienced or treats tick or flea-borne illness. If you have terrible fatigue, hard to treat emotional troubles, or illnesses no one can figure out, this emerging serious infection, Bartonella, that appears to infect millions, may be the cause. Dr. Schaller shares that Bartonella harms the body 300 ways and makes stabilization or recovery with other infections such as HIV, Hepatitis C and advanced Lyme disease more difficult because Bartonella suppresses the immune system.

The information contained in this book is not commonly known by doctors, as I have personally experienced. As a patient who was one of six ill people who had been to 28 doctors, it was this doctor's research on various tick-borne illnesses that uncovered the many missing pieces to our mystery tick-borne illness. I have seen some doctors' jaws literally hit the floor upon seeing our lab results. His research, in my opinion, is clearly years ahead of his time. He has fused his immense passion for healing with easy to understand, comprehensive research.

The book is well written and both patients and medical professionals who have no understanding of this serious infection should find it easy to read and understand. I don't recall seeing the volume of photos that are found in his book anywhere else and I believe that the last book written on this subject is ten years old. The many unique photo's shown depict many types of obvious or subtle skin forms found when Bartonella is present (He proposes as many as 40 physical exam findings). These images have already been very helpful to me -- I recognized aspects of our family illness that I had not known were related to Bartonella. With the complete lack of training most doctors have on this subject, it is critical for anyone with this illness to educate themselves, and to arm themselves with the useful and important information contained in this book.
