These Fashions didn't come from a Missionary Barrel !!Review Date: 2007-08-02
Following the stock market crash of 1929 a mother wearing a fur coat was not commonplace. The hats do grab your attention - - perhaps they were designed to draw eyes away from any shabbiness in shoes or dress? My own wardrobe during those years is remembered as a blur of nondescript cotton print dresses, and that was long before no-iron fabrics were invented. Those were the days when the father's shirts were sent out for pressing. They were returned, folded around cardboard inserts that the children eagerly grabbed for their drawing projects - - which might include original paper doll designs!
Some will purchase this *American Family of the 1930s* - - possibly to leave it uncut for a collection. Fewer children receive paper dolls as gifts now, but when they do they probably get busy drawing & coloring clothes that fit the mod taste of most girls nowadays. Reviewer mcHAIKU enjoys Tierney's dolls as historical statements even though these fashions do not help grandchildren to 'envision' her growing-up years.

The best biography of Anne Boleyn I have read.Review Date: 1999-09-17
Fascinating and informativeReview Date: 2000-09-17
Focusing on faction as one of the major causes of Anne's downfall, we are taken from her contested date of birth to her final end, through the whims of the king, life at court and her dubious romances. Ives gives the legends a brisk working over and gives the facts clearly with all the available evidence. This is THE book on Anne to read and I strongly recommend it to anyone studying her life.

Postcards take us on SERENDIPITOUS TRAVELS . . .Review Date: 2006-02-16
PLUS, you don't have to sacrifice the actual card but can copy on lighter weight Kodak paper to cut into small images. The postcards can then be used as intended for correspondence with lucky individuals who perhaps share your taste in the unusual & colorful objects used in turn-of-the-century advertising. You may find some you can't resist for your own amusement - to decorate a window sill, for example - OR - ?
The books of 24 cards (each) make interesting gifts - and even better, you can "pair" with "The Antique Advertising Paper Dolls" (isbn: # 0486240452). The cover of that collection would be a wonderful decoration for your own ALBUM of A.T.C.s. You can see how serendipitous this hobby becomes >> from postcards to trading cards to paper dolls. Reviewer mcHAIKU is pleased that each of these has an appeal even for today's teens who try to appear sophisticated/COOL yet want for themselves a slice of someone else's nostalgia!

There are 30 pages of some of the best art nouveau patterns I have ever seen. I've already used one of the patterns to create a needlepoint pattern, and I plan on using many more. Even better than I anticipated!

The Bamboo CageReview Date: 2005-03-14
Nigel Cawthorne shows what happened to South Vietnam and our POW's once they got rid of the pesky Americans, who had been an intrusion for 25 years, after they demolished the French. We have yet to respect this enemy, and also all our vets who worked so hard in this hopeless fracas. The most amazing part of the book to was about the 3.25 billion dollars of reparations that Nixon agreed to, on White House stationary; that was the bargaining chip to bring these poor souls home. We violated them as well as ourselves by the bozo's we had in the Nixon Administration, and are still paying the price, both at home and overseas in IndoChina. I am glad that I never got shot down and suffered the fate of our military men who were sadly betrayed by this country and continue to be so. More and more, the experiences I portray in OUTLAWS IN VIETNAM were thankfully the only ones I still have to report...!

If any fault can be found with the book, it's the amount of detail it provides. Though, given the prevailing public "knowledge" of American POW's, it serves the author well to support his statements from many angles.

Honest, with a neutral standing, while using common sense.Review Date: 1999-03-24
It is well researched and has given hope that the Vitnamese will one day come forward with men that I believe and KNOW are still under supervision by their captors. I could write more on this subject as I was one Nigal's informers.

Where Are My Shoes??Review Date: 2005-12-19
So Cute!Review Date: 2004-11-09
She goes through the house looking for them and trying on many different pairs, from high heels to cowboy boots. Does she find her shoes?
The illustrations are colorful and the pictures large bringing the story truly to life.
It is simple reading and also teaches young children about different shoes. A really fun book for young and old to share.

A TOP GUN PHYSICIAN? GO WITH COLORReview Date: 2008-09-04
My physician looked over treatments in the book with me, and admitted we had tried the six things that were supposed to work from some articles in journals. They did not work. Schaller says this. It could have saved me time, money and annoying medications (or herbs from "experts" with no research and of no use).
