There comes a time in every person's life that we take a good look in the mirror. This image may reflect accomplishments and the joys that that life had brought us or it might just expose regrets and dreams that fell by the wayside. I believe that it is what we do with that moment that really counts. Do we give up on life and let our light fade away forever or do we decide to make some changes in our life?

Find Your Courage encourages the reader to look at their life and make a change for the better. Unlike some self help books that promise change without any real effort, this guide looks at the reality of following your bliss. The author realizes that in order to get started most of us have a whole lot of baggage to release: our childhood experiences, the stories we make up about ourselves, and our lack of genuine self knowledge. Beyond these challenges we have the realities and responsibilities of our normal lives. It takes great courage and personal fortitude to look beyond these aspects and be willing to take a step towards change nonetheless. The result may not make you a millionaire or a supermodel but it will bring you the freedom to truly be yourself. In my opinion, that's far more valuable anyway.

Having read my share of self help books -- as both business writer and eager consumer -- I'm seldom surprised by something new. But with "Find Your Courage," Aussie author Margie Warrell truly does offer a fresh take on moving beyond your limitations and going after the life you want. In addition to being very readable, well-organized and inspiring, Warrell's book (unlike so many in this genre) is also very practical -- drawing on her work as an executive coach and corporate speaker and offering thought-provoking exercises to make your dreams reality. Her twelve daily acts of courage, which build from taking responsibility and challenging your stories (my personal favorite!) to the courage to let go and be a leader are as applicable to a fulfilling personal life as to professional success, making this book useful to anyone looking to "live more boldly," as Warrel puts it. I know this is a book I'll come back to again and again and strongly recommend it.

Brian Wilcox captures in this lovely book the true majesty of New York. The magic the city evokes is splashed upon these pages. His incredibly detailed, beautiful drawings are just wonderful. They're facinating to adults, as well as children.

Anyone who has been fortunate to have a groovy grandmother in their lives or who just digs that Big Apple should buy this book.
A great gift for all ages.

Full Moon is a different enrty in the vast field of children's books. Black and white pencil drawing force the reader's mind to come alive as a vivid yet simple story is told that every child can relate to. Each page of Brian Wilcox's Full moon is a work of art sure to capture the rapt attention of any child with whom you share this short story. For a first work, Wilcox has a sure winner. I bought this book for my two-year old god-son and plan to buy several more for my nieces and nephews this Christmas.

My seven and four year old children enjoy reading this book at bedtime. We live far away from my kids grandmothers and this book keeps their grandmothers' presence alive in their daily lives. We visited New York City this summer and Brian Wilcox' creative interpretation of America's most vibrant city is truly a delight for their young minds.

In the wake of the World Trade Center disaster last September 11, I couldn't think of a more appropriate children's book to showcase New York City.

Simply that I started it last night, finished it this afternoon, and bought a copy for a friend shows the level of gusto I have for this book. Hall uses his wit and concise storytelling to capture a demimonde of time and place. He beautifully details the difficulty of running an underground newspaper, the frustrations of living in New York, and the universal obstacles of sustaining relationships of all types. This novel satisfies. Thankfully, I'm still under its influence.

This story follows one man's experience with an underground newspaper in New York. There is a natural flow to the author's writing style. The characters are colorful and engaging. There is both humor and tragedy, all of which is equally moving. Maybe the secret is that Full of It is based on real people and events. Maybe Tim Hall is just an exceptional story teller. Who cares? I was hooked from start to finish.

I thoroughly enjoyed this very interesting and funny tale of one man's (semi-autobiographical (???) experience as he joins and then ultimately leads an East Village independent newspaper. Author Hall weaves an expert story loaded with vibrant personalities that work together, fight each other, love and then hate each other. Compelling and fun.

I have read hundreds of hockey books in my life, and no book comes close to Full Spectrum. It is the ultimate book for any Philadelphia Flyers fan anywhere, at any time. Even if your not a Flyers fan or even a hockey fan, you will enjoy this book. From the beginning of the NHL's most succsful expansion team to the 2 Stanley Cups in the mid-70s to the 35 game unbeaten streak in 1980 to the sad death of star goalie Pelle Lindbergh to the firing of Bob Clarke in 1990 to the long story of the Eric Lindros trade to the trade for John LeClair and Eric Desjardins in 1995. The book also includes a brief story of the 1996-97 season, the first one at the Core States (now First Union)Center. This book is the best Flyers book around and is my favorite.

This is an awesome book written by two awesome people of God. The Eagans clearly explain the process of going from wandering, wondering, confusion, frustration and depression to knowing, understanding, accepting and fulfilling the plan of God for YOUR life. There are plenty of exercises, "prayerful reflections" and useful examples of famous individuals that have found and pursued their purpose. Get this book for yourself. Get it for a friend (Christmas is coming up soon!). If your a parent this book will help you understand and help your children get on their God ordained path. If you can get the workbook too, it has lists of occupations for each of the Motivational Gifts(How you are individually "wired"). Better yet get the complete CD series. Enjoy.

Also, I am able to better understand my family, friends and co-workers because I know their gifts. Prior to reading the book, I often questioned my educational background and career path. Now, I know why I majored in Physics and why I love researching things--I possess the teacher motive gift! The Eagans are excellent authors and mentors, and are anointed to teach people the principles of becoming Kingdom Millionaires. So, if you are looking to learn more about your purpose and gifts, then this book is for you!

JUBILEE CITY is one of the most moving and unusual memoirs I've ever read. It's snapshots from an artist's life that are often funny and heartbreaking all at once. They are always moving, and often universal experiences. Andoe has a fresh and unique way of expressing himself. I loved this book and found myself reading stories from it over and over again.

Review Date: 2007-10-01
Joe Andoe must be fifteen years younger than the artists and poets I'm most familiar with who hailed from Tulsa--the WHITE DOVE REVIEW crew of Joe Brainard, Dick Gallup, Ron Padgett. His book JUBILEE CITY rivals the memoirs of Brainard (I REMEMBER) and Padgett (OKLAHOMA TOUGH, MY FATHER KING OF THE TULSA BOOTLEGGERS) as far as getting the lowdown on one of America's most exciting, durable, and dreamlike city-states. When I picked up this book, out of curiosity towards all things Tulsa, I had never heard of the painter Joe Andoe, and now that I've read it I realize he's one of the most famous artists of the world and he's shown all over the known universe. Somehow he flew under my radar but perhaps I have my head in the clouds or buried in the sand like a West Coast ostrich, what do I know? In any case Joe's childhood was like a real-life version of JT Leroy books, except for one stabliizing factor, his father was a real man's man who didn't say very much but Joe always knew that, no matter how many juvenile shenanigans young Joe got his sorry butt into, there was always going to be one man who had his back, his dad.

The saddest part of the book was when Andoe Sr., a relatively young man, had a heart attack and Joe had to bundle him into the car and drive him to the hospital, simultaneously talking him alive, keeping him going. But I think Mr. Andoe didn't want to stay alive not smoking, having to watch his diet, living as "half a man," and so, it wasn't long before they were carrying him back to his Maker.

Joe's interest in art went into high gear when he found out that his chichi society drawing teacher could sell a drawing or a watercolor for 900 dollars--900, as much as the car Joe was driving cost. "He looked like veal to me, all soft and white." And Joe was skeptical of the teacher's talents, thinking to himself, if his s**t flies, then mine will too. At college he learned about men like Robert Smithson, Dennis Oppenheim, other hipsters like himself, but as he says, it wasn't until he saw one of Warhol's pink Marilyns that art got its hook into him once and for all. The teacher told him he should have more humility but Joe just looks at him sideways and says, "I don't know what that word means--is it like humid?"

He had to deal with rapacious and uncaring dealers who tried dicking him every which way from Sunday, and he wound up with a Smith College alumna girlfriend in NYC who, addicted to heroin, had him breaking into his own kids' piggy banks for nickels and dimes. His brushes with the law were frequent and outrageous, and if you read THE BASKETBALL DIARIES or seen the movie with Leo Di Caprio you will agree with me by admitting that Joe Andoe was the baddest boy in many moon,s but he never lost his soul and he never lost heart. His story further proves the continuing vitality of Tulsa and Tulsans, who include also Garth Brooks, Leon Russell, Gene Autry, and David BREAD Gates in music and, in other fields, Jennifer Jones, John Hope Franklin, Sammy Sosa, Larry Clark, Alfre Woodard, S. E. Hinton who wrote THE OUTSIDERS, and Wes Studi. What do these folks all have in common? They're tough and they're cool, ubercool.

Reading Joe Andoe's memoir is like walking through a collection of his paintings. Sublime, sensual and haunting. His words reach right into your soul as do his paintings.Unlocking ghosts of distant memories. For anyone who has lived outside the box ,or for that matter looked inside and not quite know how to fit in there is comfort in knowing you are not alone. Loved it.

So, world-renowned (and successful--which isn't so easy to pull off) artist Joe Andoe has written his memoir. Why do you care? Because Joe grew up in Tulsa, Oklahoma - an unlikely breeding ground for an artist. Because Joe grew up misbehaving in all sorts of ways, had more close calls with the law and death than he can count, until he finally moved to New York City to make his name and to find his fame. Joe's voice, as a writer, is like an undertow -- before you know it, you're miles off shore, completely sucked into his world of all-encompassing love (for his children, his painting) and lust (for women, alcohol), as he paints and parents his way to recovery and redemption. The life presented here is one lived on Joe's terms, with sparkling moments of bigheartedness, crazy humor, and poignant regret. I was entranced by his bad boy youth in Oklahoma, full of muscle cars and dewy teenage girls, the insider details of the world of art galleries and agents, and most of all by how he sorted out all his inner demons and rebuilt connections with his family, friends, children.

The book is rather thin, but if you're a real lotr music fan, then you won't mind.
All of The Prophecy is included which makes for an interesting experience.
Many Meetings gives you Elrond's theme and a little bit of the Shire.
The beautiful songs Aniron and May It Be are little more than chords which is still better than nothing.
In Dreams is satisfying due to its accuracy and is hard enough to make it pretty.
Lament For Gandalf is really useless. It's just the same two unapealing music phrases for about 5 minutes.
I was rather disappointed with the lack of music from the movie such as Concerning Hobbits,The Bridge of Kazad Dum,and The Breaking of the Fellowship which they should have included. But I have to give it 4 stars just because I love the soundtrack and anything from it is worth getting.

This is an absolutely wonderful book of music. I am very into the piano, having taken lessons since I was five, and love it. In short, if you play the piano, love LOTR, and the music from the movie - buy this book! I am also a huge fan of both the books and movie trilogy, and Peter Jackson has my highest respect for staying more true to the books than any Hollywood movie does. Or any movie, for that matter.

The best in soundtrack-to-piano music.

It's books like this that made me wish I had the natural talent for music, or had at least studied and practiced hard enough to develop talent. The motion picture score that Howard Shore composed for The Lord of the Rings trilogy is absolutely brilliant, and while nothing can match his magnificent orchestra, there is something unique and incredible about hearing the same music played on a simple piano -- coming from your very own fingers.

The music on the pages can be described as intermediate level. Beginners will have trouble, but intermediates can slowly pick their way through, depending on their experience, and get better with practice.

The front cover is the same design as the DVD poster, and the original movie promotional art. Inside, 26 pages, including four front-and-back pages containing pictures from the movie.

The tracks you can play are:

- In Dreams, the end-credits song featured in the CD track "The Breaking of the Fellowship".

- The Prophecy, the never-used track that was, I believe, intended for the movie's prologue. The sheet music includes the Elvish lyrics, with the translation following at the end of the song.

- Aníron, the theme for Aragorn and Arwen, as sung by Enya. Again, the Elvish is provided in the music, and the translation at the end.

- Lament for Gandalf, featured in the Lothlorien track. It has the haunting sound that is used for the Elves at that part in the movie, but, as the title suggests, is almost a funeral dirge for Gandalf after the Elves learn of his death. Again, Elvish in the music, translation at the end.

- Many Meetings, the cerebral and heavenly theme for the Elven haven of Rivendell. Probably one of my favorite in the book, and one that, once you learn to play it through, will be something you'll want to play over and over.

- May It Be, the other end-credits song (actually, May It Be is the end credits song, and In Dreams is the *other* one) performed once again by Enya. The lyrics don't make a whole lot of sense, but it's still another quiet one to play. Since Enya only uses a smattering of Elvish in her song, the translation is provided within the music.

I think most fans will agree there were better selections that could have been made for the Fellowship of the Ring sheet music...the Hobbit theme, Moria, and the Bridge of Khazad-Dûm to name a few. But for the Lord of the Rings fans, lovers of gorgeous music, and people who are both, this book makes an excellent gift, or a just-for-you purchase!

This collection of songs from the soundtrack of the movie 'The Fellowship of the Ring' is a definite gem. The songs, in order, are 'In Dreams' [words and music by Fran Walsh and Howard Shore], 'The Prophecy' [text by J.R.R. Tolkien], 'Aniron' [words by Roma Ryan, music by Enya and Nicky Ryan] 'A lament for Gandalf' [text by Philippa Boyens], 'Many Meetings' [music by Howard Shore], and 'May it Be' [words by Roma Ryan, Music by Enya and Nicky Ryan]. Inside, there are also lots of beautiful pictures from the movie. This is a beautiful accompaniment for the soundtrack. The music is for 'piano, vocal, or chords', but other instruments could play along. I would DEFINETELY rate this 10 stars, only the limit is 5. I recommend this music for anyone who loves music, Enya, or The Lord of the Rings.

This has to be one of the most amazing books of sheet music I've ever seen. It's thrilling to play the beautiful songs featured in the Fellowship of the Ring. With favorite songs like "May It Be" and "In Dreams", it can be used for piano, guitar, or vocals. I was really pleased that the melody is worked into the piano music, so it sounds great with or without accompaniment. I would recommed it to everyone, even those who don't like Lord of the Rings!

This book was published in 1989 and is long out of print. Except for some of the technological and policy changes in law enforcement (such as to protect the Rodney Kings of this world) it is still timely. People don't really change. It is one of my favorite books, and THE favorite police-related book in my library.

Author David Hunter was a self-described poet/author that happened to be a cop (rather than vice versa which is usually the case). Hunter hired on with the the Knox County Tennessee sheriff's department rather late in life. He had a police officer's heart, but also the eye and voice of a good writer. He gave song to the relatively invisible and silent group of men and women (overwhelmingly men) who roam the streets all night and, simply put, stand between the bad people and the good people.

I have to disagree with the reviewer that described this book as like watching COPS on TV. In COPS, the officer is never really alone . . . he is accompanied by the two-man camera crew and usually a gang of other officeres that want to be on TV. COPS also doesn't really tell you what is going on inside the officer's mind and gut. Fear and/or disgust, or real compassion, doesn't come across accurately on mass market TV.

The book is a non-fictional account of Hunter's observations, thoughts, and experiences. Much is very funny. Much is heartbreaking. There are moments of terror. All is typical of police patrol work. He's not Ernest Hemingway, but he's pretty good and probably a lot more genuine.

I have spent over 90% of my 16 year police career on night patrol. I buy used paperback copies of this book in quantities and give them to younger nightshift guys that I feel have earned the ability to appreciate these stories.

Most highly recommended.

I loved this book better than all the cop story books I've ever read because Officer Hunter keeps it simple and direct. His old fashioned values, positive attitude towards people, and terrific sense of humor make this book a fantastic and easy read. Hunter has a way of grabbing your heart and making you think about life in a new way.

It's like watching "COPS"

I stumbled across this book somehow. It is by far the best book I have read in a long time. I'm not much of reader but Mr. Hunter has a special way of telling stories. Reading this book was alot like watching the T.V. show COPS. You feel like your really there. Read it for yourself and you'll understand the things our badged hero's take care of. Cant wait to read more of his books!

I read this book years ago, before I became a police officer. I have worked the streets for some time now and recently reread the book. Reading The Moon Is Always Full is truly like looking into a mirror of my life. David Hunter puts into words the things I see and do every day. He portrays the joy and sadness this strange job brings with clarity that only a fellow Officer would know. My thanks to Mr. Hunter for giving me a chance to look in the mirror.

I have read all three of the first books to my K-1 students and they love them!! They are great read aloud books for this age level. The books are well written and the kids love to see the trouble Moongobble gets into. The characters are engaging and the humor is perfect for 5-7 year olds. There are some recurring themes throughout the series that the kids just love. The only problem is that there are only 4 books in the series so far. I highly reccommend these books!

My seven year old loves this series, he truly can't put them down once he gets started. They are fun and exciting, with adventure, but at an appropriate level for a second grader. We are moving on to other Bruce Coville books as his reading level increases, have not yet been disappointed.

Bruce Coville has once again written a story quite suitable for young fantasy fans. I read to my 5 and 6 year old sons and they always enjoy the magical follies of the less than competent magicians. The scary parts in the Moongobble series are not really scary, which is a plus, compared to Spiderwick where menacing goblins kill pets and dwarves, and some characters die. The very young boy, Edward, being the hero makes it all the more interesting for children. Also the language is much gentler than in Spiderwick. (...) As aways, the drawings added to the appeal as did the handsome production values with a volume sized perfectly for small readers' hands. After the happy ending there is a great picture with all the kids' favorite characters, plus the opening for additional books even after Moongobble has fulfilled his Mighty Tasks. May we hope for more, Mr. Coville?

Bruce Coville has written a wonderful trio of books for the beginning reader. The characters in this story are amusing, especially the Rusty Knight, and the talking frog. Edward is a bland main character, but serves a purpose as the straight man around whom all the magic takes place.

I will be using the book in my 2nd grade classroom this year, and feel that the short chapters and solid story will prove to be big hits with my students.

The Moongobble series is an excellent introduction to the world of fantasy, and should prove to be a gateway novel for younger readers that will eventually lead them to the Secrets of Droon series, and from there to Harry Potter.

THIS WORKBOOK IS ABSOLUTELY A MUST FOR EVERY PAGAN PARENT !! I was so impressed with the way it was put together. The numerology section goes right along with "The teaching song !! " Awesome !! I purchased this book and will purchase many more for my friends and fellow spiritual teachers. I teach the children about earth-based spirituality here in Utah at The Church of the Sacred Circle a public non-denominational earth based spirituality church. This has been an amazing asset to the tools that I have. Thank you. BB Avalon Starr

I bought this for my youngest son who loves it! Its just like his schoolwork in kindergarden and it is a great opportunity to teach children to be aware of not just wicca but paganism, which is why I love it. There are a few advanced pages for older kids but it is definitely mostly for young children just learning letter and learning to read. I really think they could make this book a LOT more affordable but with such limited options for children it isn't like there is anything similar to spend your money on instead....

I bought this workbook for my 5 year old daughter who has shown great interest in Paganism/Wicca for about a year now since she hi-jacked my pentacle necklace. She absolutely loves the coloring pages, and was thrilled when she seen the pentacle on the cover. This book covers all the things she is learning in school and adds the benefit of introducing her to items and symbols from the Wicca religion, some of which she is already familiar with. The activities include such things as pattern recognition, alphabet, numbers, colors, seasons, mazes, bigger->smaller, and cut out alphabet cards at the back of the book.

I recommend this workbook to any parents who follow the pagan/wicca path and want to introduce it to their children in a way that they can understand.

Very basic, very good!

"My First Little Workbook of Wicca," by Rev. Velvet Rieth is an excellent book for pagan children ages 4 to 7. Although I think it should have more parental participation than stated, it is a very good starting point for introducing young'uns to some of the basics of Wicca. A "homework" format, with lots of pages to color, covers the alphabet, colors, and numbers. I was a bit disappointed to find that the numbers weren't explained as the alphabet and colors were, though. The activities sections of the book are very nicely done, teaching the basics of the elements as well as everyday common sense guidance, pagan or not. The songs included are great (as long as you can remember the tune to the original songs). The "Wheel of the Year" is lots of fun! Lastly, the alphabet and numbers card games/studies at the end of the book are terrific! I highly recommend this book for the little witches in your Circle.
