Lord? Oh Lord what was I thinkin?
Yes, this is one book I bought that let me down. I read along its pages and was really let down. Why this book leaves out what WE the fan wants to know about baseball. But alas, this book covers what the "seldom sees". I n the game. This means the author is talking about owners. I thought it was interesting to choose Baseball a subject for a book. Alas, will there be a movie. But you wouldnt know unless you see more and more through the future. Hey now, Say Hey Kid. This books a winner, now go and buy@it. Despite this dismal review. It would be emancipating to be inlightened into the owners secret weapon. The secret is not what you think, Carlton.

An Overdue Perspective on the Front Office
Unlike other books in this genre, does not romanticize the Brooklyn Dodgers nor mythologizes Jackie Robinson's contributions to baseball. This is an honest, well-written insider's account of baseball in the fifties and sixties.

Sports Illustrated Article July 8 Issue
This is a Gem, Funny First Hand history plus Harold Parrott knows how to write.

I am finally startung to understand why baseball has the "problems" it has. As Mr Parrott says these "Lords" truly are "little boys with big wallets"

Enjoy

Not Worth the high price!
One of the worst books I have ever read period! It's full of useless information, and it's not tailored to every property as it should.

Additionally, The book is filled with obsolete sample forms that no one uses (at least myself and those I know within the industry), making the VERY HIGH price inappropriate

In short, this book "could" be used as a theoritical introduction to the Front Office Management at some junior college's hospitality course, but not as a practical guide for hospitality professionals.

This reference has everything!!
They don't always teach you everything you need to know in hotel/motel management courses. This book includes all those unexpected situations that you might be faced with in the industry. It is informative and written in a way that is easy to read. A true friend in time of need.

Basic Front Office Procedures
Like the title says it is basic. But someone should warn potential buyers that the book has not been updated since 1994.

I have been a front office manager for 2 years now and I thought that this book may help my front office clerks to learn some standard procedures. Instead I find that the book lists many outdated and unused procedures for "Reservation procedures", "Rooming procedures" and "Guest Accounting".

The last two chapters on communications and TA are helpful, but the information gained does not warrent the price listing.
