These books are unusual in their focus on the history of technology, explaining how it works, and how it changed over time. It gives a comprehensive account of the development of these cars with many fine pictures.

Great color compilation on B&O rolling stock!
As another installment of Morning Sun Books' color series on the major railroads and their rolling stock from the early days of color slide photography, author Craig Bossler has compiled color photos from many contributors covering the equipment used by the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad. Although a bit pricey, if the B&O is your favorite railroad, you will not object to spending the extra money to get valuable information in an area rarely documented by rail historians, not to mention the added luxury of color photographs of rail equipment that in most cases no longer exists. An important addition to the library of fans of the B&O.

Carriage of Goods by Sea

Author: John F. Wilson
Amazon base price: $72.50
Average review score:

Great book
There are many books available on shipping law and carriage of goods by sea, but this one explains the international treaties, causes of dispute, conflict of laws, and essential shipping documents and contracts in a way that would make it an ideal text book. The writer runs a college course in the UK and clearly has had time to develop his methodology for clear explanations.

I Hauled These Mountains In Here
This out of print book is a facinating story of the settlement of the Colorado Rockies. It details the freight wagons role in carrying supplies to mining camps from the rail head. The book is full of personal interest stories that both inform and facinate.

comments by the author
Over the past couple years, many people have gone out of their way to comment to me that Inside A Freight Train is one of their children's favorite books. The children get very excited when they see real cars that look like the ones in their book. The best review I've ever had, however, was from my two youngest children. Each of them discovered the book on their own (at about the age of two) while going through the books on their shelf. I'll never forget the look on my son's face as he proudly brought the book to me, wanting me to read it to him. Of course, he had no idea that I had written and illustrated it. Ever since that day, the train book has been his number one favorite book and he still has no idea that his mother had anything to do with it. (The only problem is that he finds brand new copies sometimes (waiting to be mailed out to someone) and thinks that these are his books, too!) The artwork is very straighforward because I have found that that is what young children prefer. All of the backgrounds are real places. Some of these places are here in central Pennsylvania. I actually climbed down into a tank car at a train junk yard to get pictures of the heating pipes. The lack of variety in composition (cars are all seen from the side) was due to the preference of the editor.

Christian Comedy sketches at it's BEST
The material in this book is inspired by God. It takes simple biblical truths and humorously reveals them through drama. The only negative comment is that there will be no sequels.

Living Freight is a very good book. I liked reading about Emma and how she faced her hardships. I found it interesting that Emma went from living on the streets of Manchester to a good home overseas, where she found quite a surprise!
