Get it while you can!!
I have no idea how this one fell through the cracks as it should have been one of the all time classics and a best-seller. It's absolutely fantastic, offering insight into a variety of salespeople's rise from various backgrounds and humble beginnings to superstars in many different industries. The individual accounts are easy to read in a short sitting. Each one inspires and motivates through relating real-life struggles and hurdles each superstar faced on the way to the top ... struggles that are strikingly familiar to all salespeople. It's a book to keep in the briefcase and review often as it's wisdom is timeless and encouraging without sensationalism. A must-have.

A Lonely Kind of War : Forward Air Controller, Vietnam
Published in Hardcover by Random House Value Pub (01 July, 1991)
Author: Marshall Harrison

Average review score:

The Definitive Book on the FAC
I cannot count how many times I've read this book. A very well written account of the making of a forward air controller (FAC) and his tour of duty in Vietnam. This book is filled with non-stop aerial combat interspersed with wit and humor. I swear you can hear the engines, the explosions, the radio chatter and the myriad sounds of aerial combat. This is the definitive book on the FAC. Harrison's vividly writes about the inter-service rivalries, fighter pilot and elite unit culture. Vietnam had them all, from the ticket punchers to the true professionals, the "conscientious objectors" to the patriots, balls-out young men and know it alls, politicians and name dropers, clowns and cowboys, the scared and all too brave. Harrison's seen and flown with all of them. You will not put this book down once you start reading it. Harrison will hold you in suspense screaming, laughing and dying over and over. You will read it again and again in between browsing the web about the FAC and that "war" fought on the other side of the fence in Laos. How good is this book? I have seen precious copies churned out of copier machines circulating with pilots of the Philippine Air Force, 15th Strike Wing, one of the few users of the OV-10 Bronco in combat in the 21st century. This book should be made into a movie.

simply excellent - both in style and content
This has to be one of the best books on combat aviation in Viet Nam. I've read a lot of book about this subject, but Harrison's ability to describe the life of a Forward Air Controller left me wishing that he had put more in print. There is almost a kinship that develops during the book - you share the sweat and I have seen no one else write about aerial manuevers as vividly. His style sems to assume that the reader has a basic understanding of aviation; he gives vivid descriptions of flight without excessive digression to explain the manuevers.

I won't loan this book to anyone.

Buy it.

Felt like I was right there in the plane with him ...
This has to be the best written book on the subject matter. Throughout the book I felt as though I was living his experience and now when I remember the book sometimes I can't remember if it was part of a movie or the book, that's how good the visuals were while reading it. I highly recommend it and hope that the author brings more out into print

Forward the Foundation

A disappointment
I would like to start by saying that I am a big Asimov fan, and that this is the only novel I have ever read of his which would earn anything under four stars. "Forward the Foundation" takes place about 10 years after "Prelude to Foundation" (which was one of my favorites by the way,) and continues to feature Hari Seldon as he develops his psychohistory. While all the other Robot and Foundation novels offered some unforseen twist or new emphasis, this book did nothing of the kind. The first two stories were fun and interesting and promised to make this at least a four star book, but it was all downhill from there. I grew so board with the reiterated speculations about "lemonade death," that it took me a week to read that one section. Although the epilouge provided a somewhat satisfying (if somewhat predictable) ending, for the most part the entire second half of this book is extremely boring. Another unsatisfying aspect of this book, is that Asimov never even answers all the questions raised at the beginning when the emperor is killed. He asks how could psychohistory ever acount for such random events as that? and then never answers at the end. although you should definitly read this book if you've read the others in the series, you may be disappointed, as I was.

Extraordinary
Asimov, in his final book of the classic foundation trilogy, never fails to provide though-provoking reading. In this novel, wea learn of the late life in the infamous Hari Seldon and the people he knew best. The book details his most intimiate times with his closest friends and damily members. Forward Foundation is written in a different style than the other books: it covers many more years, from Seldon's fourties to his death. Forward foundation is the kind of novel that makes one think about all the thing important to him or herself. We learn about the Second Foundation, the reasoning behind it and how it was founded. Faces from previous novels appear in this one as well. The robots from Foundation and Earth and Robots and empire are present. All in all, a wonderful read and the crowning achievment of Asimov's work.

The Sequel to Prelude to Foundation
This story is the continuation of Prelude and it fills the gap between Prelude and Foundation. It is a great piece of work--in fact one of Asimov's last before his death. This is one of those stories that sticks in your mind and stays there for years to come.

You get what you negotiate
Like the ads on in-flight magazines says, you do not get what you deserve -- you get what you negotiate, whether in business or in life.

This book gives concepts and advice on negotiating. It has good examples and description of the "gotchas".

Better Understanding Leads to Greater Success
John Klymshyn's "Move The Sale Forward" does an outstanding job of demonstrating that, while success in sales does require calculation, pre-planning, and extensive strategizing, there is also a great need for genuine human characteristics, such as emotion, understanding, and honesty. While many books have been written about the latest 'answers' to the question of how to be a better salesperson, John Klymshyn's book is unique in its focus on fundamentals as the keys to success. John talks about the importance of understanding one's customer, of 'making the human connection' with a client, and of how to carry on client conversations so that they are comfortable and productive, rather than forced and inefficient. Above all, Klymshyn's narrative is practical; that is, it provides legitimate recommendations on what to say to a client, when to say it, when NOT to say it, and, most importantly, how to "Move the Sale Forward." While I have been in sales and associated with salespeople for more than twenty years, I've not previously seen such emphasis placed on establishing relationships with clients, and then using those relationships to keep making progress towards the salesperson's ultimate goal, which is measurable success. In my experience and in my opinion, John Klymshyn's sales style of focusing on relationships is absolutely the right way to go, and his book, "Move The Sales Forward: Position Yourself and Your Business To Make Things Happen" provides invaluable direction and tools to make this happen for even the most experienced salesperson. Because this book professes a sincere philosophy rather than a caluclated style, its value to rookie salespeople and experienced veterans alike is tremendous. Salespeople's success comes from understanding their customer, recognizing their customer's needs, and knowing how to deliver those needs to that customer at the proper price. John Klymshyn's book takes these principles and lays them out in a fashion that makes them not only understandable and logical, but also easy to embrace.

Successful Selling With Nlp: The Way Forward in the New Bazaar

Successful? selling with NLP
All in all I have to say I found this book a little bit disappointing. It felt like I was merely re-reading ideas I've seen countless times before, presented in a way, that made them look new. If you're new to NLP and want to see some appications of NLP to business it might be worthwhile, but there are much better NLP sales books out there.

a solid NLP book for the Sales field
As you can read on the cover, this book translates NLP-concepts in a language directed to persons who need to do some selling. If you have some NLP training and some sales experience, this book won't teach you many new things. If you don't have both, or you are looking how to apply NLP skills is a sales context, this book can give you some directions. Part 4 ("Sales management") some stuff that does not directly relate to sales itself, but it is useful if you are a salesperson, or if you want to be come one.
