Author Mary Hoffman, known for her beloved Amazing Grace stories, relates these tales in flowing, easy-to-read language, each one beautifully complemented with colorful artwork. An appendix offers information on the source of each of these timeless tales. Moreover, children of all cultures will be especially able to relate to the theme that being clever and humble is better than being big and strong.

The four blocks plan book is my life saver. I buy it every year. It makes my year so much easier. I love the sample pages it includes.

I originally read Mad as a 10-cent comic book (a sign of our times, no cents sign on a computer keyboard) and then as a 25-cent magazine. Wish I had held on to them. I could sell them and retire. Anyway, you electronic agers will probably not get a lot of the humor, but you can still appreciate the wonderful illustrations by Will Elder, Wally Wood, etc. And anybody should appreciate the multitude of sight gags in almost every illustration. Illustration these days is down the tubes. Take a look at what fine drawing used to be like.

My English and my background to understand Larson's humor are not the best but anytime I grab one of his books from my self I crack with the old jokes I have read many times. Each time I find a new sense and a new kind of humor, and all depends on my animus and circunstances. If someday I don't crack with a single one, I'll know my illusion for the common things of life and my youth have come to an end. David

This is the first volume of What's Michael I've read- and now I'm intent on buying them all (starting at volume 1)! If you love cats and manga, this is for you. It is really, really, REALLY REALLY funny. The short stories (only a few pages each) are funny in and of themselves but it's the artwork that makes it great. Michael himself is hilarious, his cat-friends, the manner in which he's drawn, it's all fantastic. I devoured this paperback in about 20 minutes and had to bring it over to my sister for her to read. I sat next to her on the couch, cracking up all over again as she was reading and laughing. I've read and enoyed Nausicaa, Osamu Tezuka's work, countless other graphic novels and I'm thrilled to start adding the What's Michael series to my collection!

It is a great book. The kids love it.
